HYPOTHETICALWATCHER: "You drew a seapony in MLP Tales style?"
No, but the characters from this animated series do have that aesthetic. :P
The series is 'Happy Ness: the Secret of the Loch', and our character pictured above is Bright-Ness the Nessie
...and, yes, there are others like Bright-Ness whose names all end with the suffix '-Ness'; Lovely-Ness, Sad-Ness, and Loud-Ness (among other similarly-names Nessies) inhabit Happy Land (an underground cave, which I'm sure represents some level of Hell---perhaps its attic?).
The main character of the series is Happy Ness (I think Will Smith is pursuing her), but I chose to draw Bright-Ness, for I think she's the most stylish of the Nessies (must be the glasses).
Bright-Ness here is the 'smart' Nessie. In light of that (pun!), the reader may rightly conclude the Nessies are on the Smurf naming system, by which one's name represents one's major personality trait or quirk ...somehow, it's more annoying with the '-Ness' pun ...the worst offender is 'Eliot-Ness', the detective Nessie (yes, I'm in pain, too). :P
So, what is Happy Land and what are the Nessies about?
According to the lyrics of one of their songs,
There's a world of Nessies living here, They're a bit bizarre, it's true But they aren't folks that you should fear, They're all a part of you There's a world of Nessies living here, Every one a [unintelligible] But they're not as strange as they appear, They're things you do and feel
...
So now you've met a few of us, And I bet you're wonderin' In all this hoopla, all this fuss, 'Where do I fit in?' Well, we'll tell you, it's real easy, When you've made friends with the rest, Right in the middle of it all, You'll find happiness"
In other words, no real explanation. :P
Granted, of the 13 episodes, I managed to sit through only one-and-a-half, so maybe the series explains itself (maybe), but considering the above lyrics are from the first episode (which 'should' contain the most exposition), I'm not optimistic ...at there very least, I haven't enough endurance to watch more episodes. :p Basically, there's assorted (presumably) fruit-flavored Nessies, skeptical human children, an evil old man, and songs, that lasted only one season---a series like this doesn't need much explanation ...it just isn't Nessie-sary! XDXDXDXDXDXD *shot*
I drew Bright-Ness via my Zephyr pencil, and delineated her with this Cascade pencil. I don't know what company made the Cascade model, but it's ...not partIcularly good---just your average school-use yellow pencil.
