Little Gobie (Fan Art)
Pinkfong (Fan Art)
Just some fan art of "Leroy the Redneck Reindeer". The character was created as a tongue-in-cheek parody of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Joe Diffie, a country music singer, released the Eponymous song in 1995 and it enjoyed some popularity. He's basically the hillbilly cousin of Rudolph according to the songs lore. A music video was also released that includes animation of an anthropomorphic reindeer with a green pick up truck (This is somewhat odd as Santa's other reindeer are drawn walking on fours).

Here I've been able to imitate the art very closely. This is how he appears standing next to his truck when he arrives at Santa's. Normally I'm not very good at imitating another's art style, but this time I have gotten very close with only very minor differences (slight differences in proportion mainly). I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out. It's much better than I was expecting. Last fan art I drew of Gobie wasn't nearly as close to the source material, though Gobie is a 3D character so perhaps that is a factor. I had to guess at what Leroy's left foot looks like because it's actually cut off in the original music video. Leroy wears blue overalls, has a red hankerchief around his neck and wears a green hat. I approximated the colors with shades of grey here.

It's fitting that this should be the last sketch in my sketchbook because it was this character that started me on my path back to furrydom. As "Earl The Fat Earther" he was the first character to appear in the discord roleplay that eventually gave rise to such characters as Peter and Hogu. That eventually lead to making an account on Ink Bunny and uploading art of Peter, which eventually lead to the creation of several newer characters (Kyaw and Sven). So I owe it to this character for getting the ball rolling.

P.S. yes, I got the date wrong, it's 2021 :p

They did alot of casual anthromorphic stuff back in the 90's, it was nice. I love your traditional art style too. Good job :3

Yeah the 80s and 90s were great for furry media ... then it just fell off the map fur some reason ... :/

Thanks I'm glad you like the style. I knew it was different than modern furry art but it didn't occur to me to think of it as traditional. Its probably inspired by those 80s and 90s cartoons of my childhood without realizing it.

My only actually good work of art in my entire gallery. At least by the criteria of being able to imitate another work.

I found an ideal song that fits with Leroy the redneck reindeer.

It's an old Bob Morris song, Silly Willy.
