This isn't something I've drawn recently, this is something from my extensive back catalog of furry art. It was a one off drawing with a scenario in mind. Basically this pair is kinda like Ernie and Bert, or Spongebob and Squidward, or Pinky and the Brain. Basically the squirrel on the right is always getting on the squirrel on the lefts nerves.
They dont have names. Mr happy go lucky here is inexplicably attached to grumpy puss, constantly wanting to hug, cuddle, and be near him. The grumpy one can't stand the constant man handling and is constantly trying to get away but can't seem to lose this obsessed lunatic. The grumpy one is only truly happy staring at the girl of his dreams, but she is well out of his league. But he can't even enjoy this because cloud coo coo lander is constantly getting in the way, literally blocking his view and demanding his attention. Classic love triangle stuff.
I originally had a short animation single short story in mind, so there isnt much more to it. It is meant to be comical and light hearted. These were just preproduction sketches to figure out how I wanted the characters to look. It never went beyond this single drawing.
Unfortunately its undated but the flip side has some stuff that suggests it was probably late high school so maybe early 2000s. It has Yu-Gi-Oh stuff so its sometime around the US release. Cant pin it down more precisely than that. Suffice it to say it was a long time ago.
I was actually looking for this and couldnt find it amongst my stuff. I recently visited my parents house for the holidays and was able to find this exact drawing. Ive been planning on sharing it for a while. Might try to do something more with these characters next year.
