Here is a family portrait with Kyaw and his three cousins, Flipsy, Skipsy, and Naw.
All his cousins have the last name carrots, and if you look carefully you'll see that each of them feature at least one carrot in their design. Flipsy Carrots has a carrot hair piece, a carrot head band, and a carrot necklace. Skipsy Carrots has a single carrot ear ring. Naw Carrots (pun intended) has a bib with a carrot design.
Kyaw and his cousins all get along real well, although Kyaw and Naw are the closest and also about the same age. Flipsy and Skipsy are his older cousins, and while they certainly get along with their sister Naw and cousin Kyaw, and more often hang out with each other. They are actually fraternal twins, but they are quite different in interests and personality.
Naw likes to eat, and she is very attached to her bib which she has had since she was a toddler. She insists on wearing it for every meal, and sometimes she just wears it even when she is not eating. Naw is unusual in that, unlike other kids her age who are in a hurry to reject "baby stuff", Naw seems to have to retained a nostalgic fondness her toddlerhood. She still likes to drink from a bottle, use a pacifier, and use a bib (as discussed before). She likes baby toys such as rattles and mobiles, and she insists on still sleeping in a special large crib. Everyone in her family accepts her and doesn't judge her for wanting to stay connected to her toddlerhood, but outside the family she is a bit of an outcast for her odd interests and sometimes strange playful nature. She is best friends with Kyaw and they both share a playful irreverence to life, an inability to be anything other than themselves even when faced with ridicule, an a general open mindedness to try new things. Naw also likes cooking, baking etc. hence the apron. She's learned how to bake cupcakes, make pancakes, and a few other things as well. Kyaw is happy to help and learn from her. They also like to pretend to cook with Naw's cooking playset.
Skipsy and Flipsy are both tweens, and very much into thinking of themselves as already teenagers all ready to do older kid stuff. Skipsy is a big music aficionado and has a large casette collection of all kinds of music from rock to electronica to classical, to modern art music, etc. Her fashion sense tends to more of a tomboy asthetic, but she still very much loves girly things like highlights in her hair or painting her nails (a common interest she has with Kyaw). She likes going to thrift stores and finding offbeat clothing and then mixing and matching them in all sorts of ways. Her style is more towards the chaotic and garish side rather than prim and proper. She likes wearing wornout clothing like ripped jeans and faded tee shirts. As is typical in the carrots household her self-expression is never questioned, but in junior highschool her fashion sense gets mixed reviews. Some appreciate her willingness to experiment, while others think her insistence on avoiding namebrands, deliberately going after old used clothing, and customizing stuff, as tacky (or something). The kinds of girls who think this tend to be the sorts that are very well put together and very experienced with make-up. Skipsy hates facial make up, refuses to use lipstick, and doesn't really use eye shadow much, although on occasion is willing if she thinks it enhances an outfit. Generally though she prefers the "natural" look with no makeup save for nail polish, where she often wears multiple colors, a different one for each nail. Of all of Kyaw's cousins, Skipsy is the one who most genuinely enjoys video games and will join Kyaw in his gaming, but she doesn't play with him as often as he would like, which leaves him still wanting to find another gaming partner. Naw doesn't seem to have much interest (or aptitude) in video games. Skipsy also likes skateboarding, rollerblading, likes shooting hoops, and kicking soccerballs around, though she is somewhat casual when it comes to sports, mostly just practicing with friends. Skipsy also likes "skipping", jump rope, hopscotch, jacks, and skipit.
This only leaves Flipsy. She is far more feminine then her twin sister Skipsy. She is easily the most feminine of all her sisters. Flipsy likes having her hair very long so that she can style it in different ways. Since she has reached her tweens she has taken up make up and takes her craft seriously always trying to improve. She particularly likes eye shadow and eye liner. She likes to dress in the nicest clothing she can get a hold of, although this can be a bit difficult for her since the Carrots are by no means rich. Still she works wonders with what she's got and manages to maintain a fairly respected status among her peers. Flipsy is easily the most "conventional" of her family, but she does not judge and loves her sisters and her cousin Kyaw, and all their quirkiness. If anything she feels a bit left out of all the odd-ball fun. While she tries her best to fit in she absolutely will not tolerate anyone making fun of her family. She embraces the family belief that everyone should be free to be themselves, it's just that in her case being herself is not being too atypical. She has a very close relationship with her twin sister Skipsy, and despite them being somewhat polar opposites, somehow manage to get along better than most sisters. They even influence each other to some extent. Flipsy got Skipsy into eye shadow, at least a little bit, and Skipsy has gotten Flipsy to incorporate at least one or two unexpected elements into her outfits to make things more interesting. To Flipsy's surprise, sometimes breaking with convention can actually get you ahead of the fashion curve ... as long as it's not too severe of a deviation (a consideration which Skipsy cares nothing about).
All three cousins regard Kyaw as the baby brother of the family and generally pamper him and are supportive of his willingness to try and often embrace feminine things. He is by no means left out and often joins them in their various hobbies. None of them are interested in ballet but they like how commited Kyaw is to it and praise him for his aptitude for it.
