It's been a while since I last made a sketch dumpling. Truth be told, I made the last batch just to reduce my draw list ...and it's time to do so again.
Some watchers have been volunteering suggestions for Halloween/spooky characters ...some suggestions more fitting than others. ^^
Anyway, though it's true I don't take requests, I do look at suggestions from time to time, esp. during times when my draw list is boring me. So, here we go with some speed sketches of SOME recent suggestions...
Before I begin, I must remind THESE WERE SPEED SKETCHES---the goal was to draw each subject quickly (didn't aim for ACO quality here). With this batch of sketches, I looked at screen shots of each subject and drew what I saw, as doing so requires less thought than drawing each subject in an original pose. I used my Zephyr pencil to draw, then went over the line art with an ordinary pencil (so the lines would be easier to see). After, I cleaned these up (somewhat) with an eraser.
Anyway...
From top left to right:
1. One of those cats from 'Katy the Kitty Witch'.
Ok, no one actually suggested this one, at least not directly ...but, someone did mention Katy, and that brought this abomination to recollection.
I decided to share this with some of my watchers, without saying anything about what this character is or why I was showing it. These are copy-pastes of their replies,
WATCHER: "what the?" WATCHER2: "What's that?" WATCHER 3: "what is that?" WATCHER 4: "Whats the weird thing? Looks like nightmare fuel"
...It's a cat. Perhaps it's some sort of cat-llama, wuzzle-hybrid thing.
Either way, it provided me with some amusement. :3
The dark spot in the center is its nose. The (invisible) eyes sit just above the top of the light-brown gradient. The head lifts up South-Park style at the base of this divide (to serve as the animal's 'mouth').
It's really quite fascinating (expect to see more!). :3
2. Scarybit (from 'The Littl' Bits')
An indirect suggestion. You know, I grew up watching Nickelodeon during which time 'The Littl' Bits' was on the schedule. I've seen every 'Bit' episode Nick had to offer (so it's safe to say I like the series), though I've never committed any of the show's cast to ACO. :P This will change very soon, but between now and then, this speed sketch of Scarybit will suffice. :3
3. Toons from the Crypt ('Tiny Toon Adventures')
Now, TTA has/had at least one entry in just about everything I do, so one more example won't hurt.
This is Buster Bunny in his parody of the Cryptkeeper.
...I don't think I've seen Toons from the Crypt---I didn't recognize anything from it's YT upload, though I was sure I'd seen it (on mention of the title). :P
4. Stanley ('Stanley the Ugly Duckling')
Ok, this suggestion came from a nonwatcher, but I had to take it...
USER: "Hi. I just came across some of your artwork here, but it gives me a question. Have you actually seen this obscure animated special from the early 1980s that I saw online a few years back? [link]"
I checked the special out and watched it all the way through. Doing so gave an odd feeling, as I was certain I'd seen it before (and I had), but found I recalled very very little about it (like, I didn't know what was going to happen next in the story).
I'd seen this thing decades ago via The Disney Channel (if memory serves), and---
HYPOTHETICALWATCHER: "What's 'spooky' or 'Halloween' about this duckling?"
Rude! ..Anyway, can't you tell? Just take a GANDER at how ugly Stanley is---he's almost as deplorable as my punning!
No, seriously... the cast says Stanley is ugly, but he looks almost exactly like the other chicks---they're drawn from the same model (trust a cartooner on this; there's only VERY slight cosmetic differences here). So, yeah, this is a bit of an ironic entry (but it's my sketch dumpling---I'll include who and what I want in it)! D:
I don't care for ponies. Being a furry, I understood the 'Brony' thing, but I could never get into the source material (despite the earnest efforts of a particular friend). ^^
I won't win any friends with this, but I sorta liked the ponies I saw on Disney. I saw two versions: the one from (what I'll call) the 'Megan' era, and the other was the one that was presented as some kind of pre-teen drama.
Without looking it up, I think one of the MANE characters was a blue pony with a comb as his cutie mark (...ok, I'll stop). ^^
...I looked it up. The pony is 'Teddy' and the show was 'My Little Pony Tales'. ^^
Anyway...
Someone (facetiously?) asked if I could draw The Great Pumpkin. Now, The Great Pumpkin has never been seen, so how can I draw it?
Ah, I think the better question is how CAN'T I draw it!
Not seeking critique ? Well you will have it anyway ! There is .... THERE IS .... nothing i can complain about because it is a nice drawing ! Have a nice day(night) ! XP
