The seemingly helpless orphan. It's a trap that's been sprung on dozens of unfortunate cartoon characters, both malicious and well-intentioned. However, Elle's too genre-savvy to take the bait, sending L'il Sneezer out the door before he can wreck up the place.
The original pencil sketch was given a surprisingly chilly reception by my friends... one was especially hostile, channeling Don Rickles as he mocked the use of perspective and even Elle's personality. I don't know if he was having a bad day or just hated the comic that much, but his adverse reaction nearly convinced me not to finish it.
You know what, though? If you let yourself worry that much about how people will react to your artwork, you'd never get anything done. If Seinfeld taught us anything (aside from how to be vain New Yorkers obsessed with trivial details), sometimes you've just gotta ignore your friends' advice and go with jerk store.
By the way, this comic was done both as a present for TailsCorra, and to shake off the rust after two weeks of inactivity.
(Also, I know this isn't going to get a lot of attention here. The shameless panty shot and diapered butt stuck in the camera might help, though.)
I'm sorry but I'd do the same thing. That little punk is trouble! I love how he has a warning label though, that's just fantastic. I can't see why anyone would hate this comic... but I really think it manages to be both cute and funny.

Oh yeah, anyone who doesn't is opening themselves up to a world of hurt.
I'm glad I stuck with this. Too often I abandon ideas because I don't have the confidence to see them to the end. As the saying goes, "nothing ventured, nothing gained," right?

Definitely. I've come pretty close to never finishing ideas because I stop and think "Is this too far? Will anyone like this?" and many times they end up being pretty popular. The thing is you can't please everyone, so when you're deciding whether to do or finish an idea it's best to ask several opinions and take them with a grain of salt. Especially because this idea is really funny and it woulda been a shame if you didn't finish it. I hope you'll make more little shorts like this besides the main comic!

Héhéhé I've always found sneezer cute... But his li'l prob with his allergies make cohabitation impossible like we say... But... thinking of it if I would have the choice between Sneezer and Elmira... I would take the less painfull

Oh yeah, you get the full monty of humiliation and abuse with Elmyra. She was especially designed to be obnoxious, yet the WB executives tried so hard to give her her own spin-off, ultimately pairing her with Pinky and the Brain. It was a decision so hair-brained it could have come from Elmyra herself!

Haha!! I wish people came with warning labels like that sometimes!! I'm glad you finished this despite what others reaction was. I get really good ideas too sometimes and then my brain gets to work on imagining how other people will take it. The end result of course is that nothing ever gets done and the art that could be doesn't get made.
I heard a quote once that went something like this: "The best way to kill a new idea is to show it to other people". I would add "critical people" in there too. Maybe that's why artists tend to work by themselves before letting their art out into the world. I remember when I had a really bad artblock, I was way too concerned with what people thought. Back in 2008 though, I would make art pretty much about everything going on in my life or fun ideas. I swear I got way better at drawing then too just by shutting that inner critic up and letting myself go wild with drawing ^^
