Ion didn't realize how fun the first kill would be on the Hunt as part of his work for the Contract Hunters. The thrill of tracking and Hunting down you enemy gave him a sense of excitement he has never felt before and to his admittance, could handle. The spray and the feel of blood on his body as well as the taste of what got into his mouth, unlocked something darker within. Ion basically became a demon, killing and spraying the blood of those around him as his senses were overwhelmed, his muscles tightened and he gained physical strength and durability that he would not have otherwise, but at the cost of losing sharp mind. Luckily for him though, Zephyr is at his side almost always and is able to calm him down and pull Ion out of his bloodlust state. Ion tries to control his lust for blood while out on Hunts and for a while is able to get it somewhat under control. However as the years and the Hunts go on, even small amounts of the enemy's scent and taste of blood causes him to go into a frenzy. This prompts Ion to eventually war an assassin style face mask while out on Hunts to prevent the scent of blood from becoming too powerful or the taste to get into his mouth. Though not as mindless as he once was while in his frenzied state, Ion does sometimes delve willing into this state as a sort of ace up his sleeve, making sure Zephyr is there to pull him out of it in a moments notice. Ion also does fear this state as his biggest fear is loosing himself if he goes to far with it
