"When I was young, my vinyl 45's were everything; I would regularly alphabetize them in my room...THIS room, in Davison, Michigan in the early 80s" -Croc

It was a really awesome experience to sit down with my friend Croc, at his current place, while he was describing me by memory how was his room when he was a kid while I was sketching it (not this final result, I did a very different rough sketch). It was a really nice experience to listen him, and also to read him when he remembered something else and he also sent me many references.

"I really wish I had a photo of my real room, mostly so you could see how closely you've come to it without ever really seeing much of the room at all" -Croc

Some of these vinyls are based on actual 45 record sleeves. Can you recognize any?

Picture for the great Croc O'Dile.

Oh good grief, a Merlin! One of those drawers has a whole bunch of loose AA batteries in the bottom, I'm sure.

If you're referring to the image, that's an Atari 2600.

I noticed that cassette player. I've had several of those many years ago.
And the Atari video game system is an oldie.
And Mad Magazine...Those were really funny.

Kind of reminds me of Clarence Coyote's trip back to 1960 in a time machine, though what's shown here doesn't quite go back that far.

I still has a few cassette recorders now including this one from the 1960s when they were new and it still works but needs a bit of work, I even have a couple tapes from around that time and every time I've shown it to someone who grew up in the 80s, they always thought they were new when they were a cub and get really surprised this one existed back then. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/6623972235224023...

I had some of the same things Croc had when I was younger: an Atari 2600, 45 and LP records, a tape recorder, and a Montgomery Ward TV with the rotary knobs.  Though I still have most of my records, I miss having the other stuff.

My room is full of things from that time period and before and I manage to organize it in such a way that I can fit more then the room should hold.

Hah... so fun!  I always wanted one of those Big Trak deals on the shelf.  I definitely had Pac Man Fever (the full album, not the 45).  Great pic!

You're right, that is a Big Trak. For some reason I thought it was a Starcom vehicle.
