Another character concept of a character for my comic Demordicai Diamonds. This is my first time drawing him and I had a heck of a time trying to get the colors right. I'm satisfied for now at least. It's better to finally get him on paper than have him hovering around in the void.
Sidian is one of the three dominant ruling lords of the island of Relma. His holdings, while fairly large in land size, are poor economically. Most of the villages that are in his domain are small farming and woodcutting villages with little to brag about besides hospitality and food. Lord Sidian is a darkri but cares little for the affairs of his more tribal kin and prefers more higher pursuits than hunting, gathering, and trivial basket weaving. The fact that he is a darkri is a little upsetting to others but at the same time proof that they can be civilized.
The name Sidian Valcor is quite well known on Relma, maybe a little too well known. It is known by many of the inhabitants, their parents, their grandparents, their great grand grandparents, and much further back down the generational lines. Old texts have been found with his name mentioned in it in various business endeavors and land transfers but Sidian denies that they reference him.
Some conspire that Sidian is much, much, older than what he looks while others point to a long but more private family line where the name is given to the first born son and a tradtion of Valcor males taking darkri wives in secret. There are many rumors about the matter but no one, at least not of the common folk, really know for sure.
Sidian is a very private individual who rules quietly and modestly over his people. He is strangely lenient on taxes and doesn't live as extravagant a life as others of his status. His people respect him and though they may have many questions about him, Valcor rule over the years has been very prosperous to those living under it.
His dwellings are not regal but he does possess some finery and has a taste for a certain level of sophistication but not going overboard. Sidian lives inside a large, hollowed out tree on the outskirts of Aspen Village on the opposite side of the nearby lake. He lives alone with the exception of a single man servant and seems to genuinely have no fear of his solitude but revels in it instead.
When he does show his face out in public, usually on holidays, festivals, and days of great public importance, those who meet him find him a tad creepy but generally polite and amicable.
