I had a leftover Ergotron LX HD arm that supports between 14-30 lbs, but the Elitebook weights a lot less than that. So, I took the advice of a skunky friend and made a box to put a bunch of rocks into. It's roughly about 10 lbs :P

Then I thought it would be really cool to finally have a full size keyboard just under it. So I made a longer lid and some little holes in some wood blocks where the keyboard tray would attach to. It's centered, so it stays flat when typing on it.  I was going to try putting this whole thing together with screws but a lot of the wood is too small or thin so I played the waiting game and glued it down. Those two pieces of wood at the bottom of the laptop support it's weight and also allow access to the power and lid buttons.

I gotta say, this is the best stand I've built to date ^__^ No more wedge shaped wood stuff on my desk taking up space, no sir! This one floats above the desk, moves up or down, moves side to side, and tilts up or down.  Very easy to reposition! Didn't cost a lot to build. Maybe $15-$20. Already had a lot of spare wood laying around, so most of what I bought was nuts, bolts, and screws. If this was on an LX instead of the LX HD, I could probably get away without using the rocks box :P

Howdy, and using craftsmanship mixed in with a little improv to smooth out the workspace is more creative than it is crazy, so props! Workarounds and using every part of the metaphorical buffalo is highly respectable! Mazel Tov!

Daaw thanks skwirly!! ^///^

My hand's a bit better. I can squeeze or pinch things okay and put pressure on it in that direction. Going inward sideways to my palm though, can't do that quite yet.

Hey big bro  :) Can you believe I've changed my desk setup 17 times since 2011 ? 12 of those happened this year ^^;   I've started cataloging it just to keep track!

The Dandelion plushie came with the season 2 boxset ^^ I had to order it from France. Cost about $80 x___x Not sure if it's still available or not today.

Yeah, I felt like I needed some protection from my environment ^///^ My mom got some kind of viral bronchitis which nearly turned into pneumonia. I had bad allergies too....until i started eating garlic + turmeric (read that it's good at quieting the body's histamine response).
