It's been 2 years since I've last drawn any concept of Taria. She will eventually appear in my comic, Demordicai Diamonds, probably around the 2nd or 3rd story-arc.
Unlike most of the ikeeri characters that I have drawn so far that will eventually appear in Demordicai Diamonds, Taria, while of the ikeeri species, is of the darkri race of ikeeri. Her kind shuns most modern technology (though they do often keep the items of their enemies) and ways and lives in the darkest pockets of forests. They tend to be very much nocturnal and have a more tribal way of life that mainly includes hunting and gathering but some tribes have started to learn to farm.
Taria comes from the only darkri tribe on Relma that originally came to the island many years ago escaping a bloody revolution that was sweeping through the tribes on the mainland. Her tribe has a more isolationist mentality but often responds with extreme violence when provoked or when their territory is encroached upon. Compared to her kin on the mainland, Taria's tribe would be considered quite pacifistic and weak but they still implement certain grisly ornamental forms of psychological warfare.
Amongst the more civilized communities of the land, darkri tend to be viewed as bloodthirsty, cannibalistic savages. It is not uncommon to hear tales of darkri allegedly consuming the flesh of their dead and the enemies they slay in strange, usually demonic, rituals that is presided over by the tribe's matriarch. Some tales claim that their creation involved demonic intervention at some point many centuries in the past but getting both sides of the story is much easier said than done.
Taria is somewhere roughly between 23 and 24 years of age. She's lived on Relma all of her life and has had little contact with the world outside of her native forests besides the business of her tribe dealing with trespassing outsiders. That all changes for her when her tribe captures a certain traveler and the shamans insist that the usual way of dealing with trespassers be forgotten for this particular instance. It becomes Taria's duty to watch over the traveler and watch for signs of spiritual significance. In the following days, Taria's curiosity of the outside world is perked.
Taria has a general dislike of the ways and customs of civilization but still has a curiosity with it. She considers clothing to be more of a ceremonial thing and has a hard time understanding why people wear them so much. She will wear clothes simply for the fact of being respectful of the cultures she encounters and not cause any problems. If given the choice, she would rather wear clothes that she made herself rather than having someone else make it. Even when she is trying to be decent, she sometimes forgets to wear some of her clothes especially when being woken up early in the daytime.
Taria is almost completely nocturnal and has a hard time adjusting to a more solar-oriented time schedule. She is somewhat claustrophobic and prefers to be outdoors rather than indoors but likes to be in little nooks, crannies, and hard-to-reach places if possible while indoors. She isn't very lady-like and has a tendency for certain bad habits like nose-picking and scratching while in public.
Bold and brash though more nature-oriented sums up Taria's personality. She values her freedom and the natural world the most and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty with blood if need be. She can be easy to get along with as long as you don't insult her or her tribe's way's. She does have a strong spiritual side and believes that everything has a spirit from rocks to trees to people.
