Character Sheet for Violet Akuchin (紫・悪神) [the kanji name may be a joke. see below]
Nickname(s)
Vi (バイ) (possibly as an insult, see below), Mas (literally Sam backwards), Silly (specifically Sammu says this a lot) [a possible allusion to her full name being 紫丽 (Zili). see below]
Species
Takir which is a race from the Albion series. The nearest comparison is the North American mountain goat but there are some notable differences (read below)
Age
Somewhat of a debate. Seems to be around her 20's and we know she's younger than Sammu as he calls little sister in Japanese.
Character Description
Though having the physical appearance of a goat the takir are in fact evolved from Sammu's planet's equivalent of the tree kangaroo as opposed to our planet's primates.
Vi has direction hearing which gives her the ability to hear the tiniest noises from far away but it has to be focused on a target so she can't hear around her. Counter to that she has 360 vision but it can be a hindrance in bright light.
Vi being a goat has a thick skull and can take a pretty had whack to the forehead which gives her the ability to wield it as a weapon. Her head is particularly strong as Sammu himself comments though it might have been as a metaphor, however it's not super-powered like Sam's so it's still nothing more than an animal skull.
She can also eat various poisonous substances which is common among Takir, mostly plant-based poisons and irritants but also thinks with high salt content such as saltwater for example.
Unlike a real goat the takir only have 1 stomach, don't ruminates, can't projectile spit clumps of vomit and don't have stomachs strong enough to crush a human hand, however not being a goat he's not likely to develop colic or bloat or contract ruminant morbillivirus AKA the goat plague, which is a variant of measles that can be deadly to cattle.
-
Violet's name is just brimming with wordplay. For a start we know she acquired the surname Akuchin through Sam and whether that was to say that he himself is evil or simply that Violet was is up for debate.
Secondly the kanji for Violet's name is 紫, which in Japanese is Murasaki and means the plant known technically as lithospermum erythrorhizon and is a rather pretty if highly uncommon name for a girl in Japan.
However the trouble with kanji is that they can translate into Chinese or Japanese and this particular kanji is one such case.
It would make much more sense for the kanji to have a Chinese origin since she and Sam come from China and have never really stepped foot in Japan.
I know this makes the Akujin kanji somewhat confusing but it could be that it's a descriptive term given to both of them from a Japanese person since Akujin is often depicted in human-like form with horns on their head.
However the kanji as Chinese reads as Zi, which is a boys name and even if it's an abbreviation most names beginning with that kanji are male.
However in the case of the name Zili it is indeed a female name meaning a beautiful purple and Zi might be an abbreviation.
Zili is still somewhat of an odd name for a girl though as despite being a female name the ties to the masculine purple name somewhat suggests gender confusion either a masculine female or a feminine male.
Sam uses the nickname 'Silly' to refer to his sister so it's possible her name might be Zili and Sam has adapted into the English word silly as a lighthearted insult.
Likewise the abbreviation Vi is often not used by Sam except when he's being derogatory about her feminist views.
That's because in Chinese and Japanese the name Vi is pronounced bai which, can be the adopted English abbreviation for bisexual (bi) and even a slang term for hermaphrodites or somewhat ironically used in its Chinese translation which means pure.
It's possible that Sam is using word play as a way to put down Vi's feminist beliefs by likening her to a man despite being female and since Sam named Violet it's possible that that was the idea from the start or that Vi has grown into her name from her own attempts at word play or turning Sam's own words against him.
Personality
(see backstory and preferences)
Likes/Dislikes
apart from her obvious man-shaming (see backstory) she has a few things she has preferences for.
first of all despite not sharing the same views she does have love for her brother Sammu and of the two has made more of an effort to spend time with him though she does refer to him as little brother despite him being older as a tease about his height.
She likes spending time with the girls which normally means Sam can't but he lets her since she's often not visiting for very long and he'll let her have that liberty.
She likes staying connected to her friends via phone and social networks and is one of those individuals that has completely absorbed teen culture.
She likes shopping for clothes and accessories and is rather image conscious which Sam likes to exploit to his benefit however she can be rather rude towards people who aren't so image focused.
She's into romantic dramas and love stories though her approach towards relationships is often a lot more ramshackle.
Background/History
Sam and Vi were living as goats with their family in the rocky mountains when their herd was attacked by hunters who proceeded to kill all the adults.
Sam took charge and managed to get all the children to a safe place before pursuing the attackers and killing them.
Later some animal rescuers heard of the event after encountering Sam who was now the leader of the heard were lead to the kids who they took to a sanctuary in Hubei, China.
However Sam soon ran away from the Sanctuary and it wasn't until many years later that he returned to give only Vi and the family that adopted Sam the ability to act human.
Sam begged Vi to come with him but she didn't want to leave her family so Sam managed to manipulate events so that Vi could work at the sanctuary as a staff member.
However, Vi grew up to have some pretty extreme views about the sexes believing that females are constantly downtrodden by males and women were the superior of the two.
This developed somewhat into an obsession turning every conversation into her favorite topic at the drop of a hat and constantly accusing people of attacking her people so that she could act as the hero stepping in to save the day.
This behavior though often just irritating to others in Sam's case very much drives him up the wall as he believes that women should be looked after rather than completely independent.
He's had to step in on multiple occasions to save some innocent person that Vi has decided to use as a punching bag for her hero complex and knows all too well how Vi can completely blow something out of proportion.
Unfortunately Vi has become somewhat of a voice for the feminist community and a minor celebrity where it's concerned, something that only adds to her attitude.
Luckily she lives quite far away back in China but she can sometimes visit either by choice directly or if her work as a spokesperson for feminism leads her to the UK.
Relatives/Family
Sam is Vi's older brother and the two of them have very different opinions on sexuality. Sam taught Vi how to be like the humans but the results he regrets.
Her and Sam's birth parents were killed when they were young and they were moved to a sanctuary. However at that point their lives went separate ways as each got different adopting parents and Sam went on his own adventure.
Sam enabled Vi to developed intelligence and take human form but he didn't do so for the goat family that raised Vi.
She still visits them returning to her goat form when alone with them but obviously they don't have the ability to use technology on their own.
World/Setting
To all intense purposes the main canon Vi belongs to is almost a carbon copy of the real world. For that reason Vi often takes human form in public but around John's apartments where everyone knows Sam's secret she can be found in goat form.
Vi can also appear in other canons by using the teleporting door of The HORS Hotel to hop dimensions, in which case the laws of that world apply, apart from anything that changes the Vi persona into something it's not.
In these kinds of settings it might be normal for anthropomorphic animals to exist so Vi will take the form of a goat if that's the case.
It's important to remember that Vi wont suddenly develop forward vision or become a planarian variant like Sammu even if you want. She is who she is and you gotta just live with that.
Body
Appears to be a mountain goat with white fur all over, orange-red eyes, bulky black horns and black hooves.
Vi can use her hooves much like hands and that includes her hind legs. She has 2 digits at the end of the palm and something resembling a thumb on EACH side of the palm. These 'thumbs' become the rubber nubs that goats have behind their hooves when they cross her palm so she CAN walk on them.
Even when quadrupedal Vi has the same mobility in her shoulders and hips as humans do and can rotate his wrist as much as humans too. However her ankles don't have the same mobility as her wrists.
Vi is comfortable on both 2 and 4 legs but prefers the latter if she gets a chance to get away public. She can even use her grasping feet to wield weapons and grab people when in a handstand or climb up things without the use of her hands.
Clothing
Vi actually has an array of outfits and it's completely plausible for people to draw her in something new in their own canon. However she has a few elements that occur most often.
1, peach color t-shirt.
2, black shorts.
Her outfit often contains more muted colors rather than explosively bright however she does like feminine clothes as well as masculine.
It's worth noting that Vi doesn't wear shoes in her goat form and the pants stop at her ankles which is the backwards pointing bend in her leg. Bare that in mind when drawing her.
Her clothes will change their shape somewhat to adapt to her shifting form so that they don't rip or fall down. However this may only apply to her default attire.
Accessories
Often wears quite large gold colored rings as bracelets and anklets.
Her accessories will change their shape somewhat to adapt to her shifting form so that they don't break or fall down. However this may only apply to her default attire.
Also never anywhere without her smart phone.
