By the time Rutger and Faye were roused from their sleep by Alicia's latest antics, they found it was already too late for them: snug ropes trapping them in a rather close embrace, with handkerchiefs stuffing their mouths quite thoroughly and silk scarves tied tightly over their muzzles, muffling their cries of surprise.
"Now, now." Alicia hushed them in a menacingly sweet tone while tucking the captive couple back in under the sheets. "Don't make such a fuss, you'll wake up Ashley!" Indeed, soundly sleeping in the living room was the endearing young kitten doll, Ashley White, who after an evening visit was staying the night on the sofa. Rutger and Faye had become close friends to his mother, Willow, and had happily agreed to look after her sweet and well-mannered son while she was out of town. Alicia shook her head at the muffled yelp as her prisoners realised the intruder was already familiar with their guest. "Oh, don't give me those looks, our families go way back, you know!"
Rutger responded with a defeated sigh: it seemed that no matter what he tried, he and Faye were getting tangled up tighter in Alicia's web every day. And as if on cue, a gentle paw knocked on the bedroom door. "Ow, now you've done it, it seems I'll have to grab Ashie too, now. The poor thing..." With a diabolical chuckle, Alicia hid herself in the nearby closet as the door slowly opened.
"Nya... miss Faye? Mister Rutger? What was all the noise...?" Ashley's soft little voice was barely above a whisper. Still holding onto his favourite plushie, the drowzy feline was still so sleepy that he didn't notice his hosts' predicament or frantic muffled cries that tried to warn Ash of the impending doom. But a sinister shadow slowly crawled closer from the corner...
