I can't help thinking holding a ship like that in the air has to be a massive waste of energy. And maybe kinda loud? >_>

A bit of technical info to help make clear what kind of tech is here:

Most of the acceleration potential of the ship's engine systems is a generated gravity distortion field that is precisely manipulated to create acceleration in any direction, but most efficiently in a forward or backward one. The force effect of the field is close to uniform in strength inside the core of the field, so effects of high G accelerations are strongly mitigated for anything inside the ship
An effect of the generation of this field can be observed on the distorted path of the falling water near the field emitters (practically speaking the engines)

It doesn't consume much energy to stay afloat in compensation for a gravity pull of around 1G, the ship is capable of achieving a few orders of magnitude higher acceleration than that, which also needs to be sustained for prolonged periods of time with its power supply.

The noise it makes at near-resting state (or at 1G output) is a very soft humming noise, easily blending into the noise of the nearby waterfalls.

In a related note, the glow of the engine is actually exaggerated for visual effect on this image as it would only glow visually like this in a more intense acceleration.
