I landed on my wrist while taking down someone and it very much hurts. And then a mosquito ate me on the injury so now I have that itchiness. At this moment, I regret drawing.

It blows my mind that people can think like that
GrimArt

To be honest, when I was younger, I was of this mindset once, too. As time went on and I had more responsibilities placed on me to protect not only my family, but strangers, this mindset was destroyed. This mindset can be very selfish, and I am ashamed of it, but I am glad I could move past it.

Now it was nothing related to this specifically, but I tied in some drama I'm in currently to it to make it more relatable and easy to write. If you see something, say something. If you can, DO something about it. Even if you don't think it will help, one call to the right person can save multiple lives.

Absolutely. When you're young and don't have much to lose it's hard to care about the big picture of the world around you, but as you get older and have more to lose you start developing more compassion and caring about others and what they have to lose. When I was a kid I never cared about what happened to anyone else as long as nothing bad happened to me or my friends, but as an adult I can't help but feel empathy for almost everyone. I guess the weight of responsibility has a way of changing your perspectives.

Its a matter of depth perception. You wont find a single human being who does not close its eyes over immoral things when it suits him or her. That includes you. Your family. Your (possible) children. Your friends and with probably some really extreme exceptions, 100% of humanity.

Do you care about how many people die or slave so you have gas in your car?
Do you care about how much animals suffer so you have meat on your plate?
Do you care how many lives were ruined to have your coca cola?
Do you care about abuse of drug companies?
Do you care about child labor that puts your phones together in china?
And it goes on and on endlessly with things you didnt even know about or even expected.

Here is a revelation for you: The only true a**holes in this world are those who think of them self as morally elevated.
Those who sit along with you on the bottom of a cesspit, but they think of them self as cleaner than you are because they had only 3 pieces of turds on them when they surfaced instead of your 5.

Some of the worst hypocrisy that exists in this topic happens to be in the fetishes and sexual preferences department, because hey: Only my sexual preferences are "normal" and everybody else is a sick, amoral f@g.

I'm going to be honest, i could go on and on with my opinions on this subject, but the thing that got me to write a reply is your use of depth perception as it has nothing to do with morals or being selfish/selfless. Depth perception: the ability to perceive the relative distance of objects in one's visual field....sorry it bugged me to much not to leave it alone i'm sorry! Q~Q

Sigh... or you can choose to interpret it free from its original definition and by its context: Thinking with depth instead of being shallow.
CoffeeCario
5 years, 8 months ago
And then you end up confusing the hell out of everyone because they'll never know what YOU mean and it'll lead to misunderstandings, there is a reason definitions exist.

I understand mrs literal. I will try to stop confusing a place of torture and molten rocks out of people.

People can be selective and they can be hypocrites, this is true.  Some people simply pick their battles because the scale of the issue they're faced with is beyond their power as an individual, and a grand sweeping crusade for change is out of their depth.  But most people should want to do good in the world, leave it better than they found it, and help out where they can.

We may all be sitting at the bottom of the cesspit together, but we should aspire to do our best to improve our little corner, and we should be willing to reach down and pull up those who are buried deeper.

Yeah, we're all shit in our own ways.  We're all hypocrites and consumers of suffering in the grander picture.  But we can aspire to be better and leave the world a bit better for it, rather than simply wallowing in the state of things.

If intervention in a situation like this could spare even one potential victim from the nightmarish evil shown on that site, it would at least be worth a shot.  Simply a tip-off to those with the power to help could be the difference in the long run.
Labyrias
5 years, 8 months ago
Intervention and helping is different from taking a moral high ground by principle and then judging and berating people for things they didnt have an agency in, in the very first place.
Sexual orientations is one such example. Nobody chooses what their genitals react to, so labeling them this and that based on one's own opinions is utterly ridiculous at best.

If Ambus wanted to support Mindes in creating his own site just for what he's into, I could be down with his point of view, but it's at least one person's full-time skilled job; and good luck supporting both of them on a trash-collector's salary.

In practice this has - once again - shown the need to lock your phone. (And shinies can be pretty and petty. Or at least that they're probably no better or worse than anyone else in terms of acceptance.)

Also, Ambus makes a huge leap in saying that the subscription fees go to the content creators. How much money does a site like Inkbunny or FA give to artists? In practice, it's often reverse. A site like that could easily be spending thousands of Pokedollars a month just on servers and bandwidth, let alone web design. They're probably using the exclusive content to pay for it, and anything else they host for their community.
GrimArt
5 years, 8 months ago
He's not saying that the money is going to the content creators per say. The fact that the subscription site is hosting this kind of content alone, and Mindes paying for it, is supporting people who distribute this kind of content in the first place.

Secondly, Inkbunny does not require payment to view. The site Mindes goes on does. Third, Inkbunny isn't harbor to actual illegal activity. With the exception of bestiality and cubs in some states, both of which are fictional. Real illegal activity is being involved on this site with real people, as Ambus has stated some of the shinies involved on the site have been missing for months. That doesn't mean all of the content is illegal, but paying for the legal content doesn't mean you aren't also giving money to keep the illegal content supported and distributed.

Hosting illegal content is illegal. There is nothing morally justifiable in that aspect. Pedophile rings host pedophile content and also some kitten pictures, and they charge you to view the kitten pictures, which just happen to be alongside child porn photos. If you learn that this is a thing, and you don't report it, you're allowing children to continue being harmed, and additionally, you will be arrested if you are discovered to have paid for this content more than once.
GreenReaper

OK. That just wasn't what I got from the plain reading of "giving money to the people who hurt these kidnapped people". It's possible that the site owners are commissioning or funding certain content directly anyway, even if they're just one of many, and in that case his assertion would be almost literally correct anyway - like BD funds e621 and F-list, and IB a bit [cache donation].

I don't think IB hosts bestiality because we don't allow humans in porn. It's all just animals. ^_^
Though it'd be great to be a fly on the wall in a court where they were arguing out human vs. anthro vs. feral. (Ideally we wouldn't have a member in the docks as well. >_>)

It's weird for me to think of Pokemon as subject to those kinds of laws considering all the stuff they get put through in the games. I guess if they are the top species in a modern equivalent of our world they'd likely have similar laws, except perhaps in lawless countries or those where certain types are subject to discrimination (where some of the content-creators could be based).

Why do you keep comparing the site in the comics to inkbunny? The inkbunny is drawn art, the site in the webcomic has video of missing people being tortured as porn. Very different kinds of porn sites.

Apathy is one thing.  He doesn't exactly need to be a hero and it's understandable to not take the weight of the world on all the time.  But there is a difference between something that's simply "immoral to society" and something that would fit right in on a list of "horrific ISIS atrocities", and his shrugging it off so easily is borderline sociopathic.

Mindes isn't done answering all the extremely fair questions and concerns this site and profile brings up.  And it IS fair for Ambus to expect some empathy from a partner.  His attempt to go on the offensive here and twist the pressure onto Ambus is totally misplaced.

As much as I'm completely unsatisfied with Mindes's explanations so far, what I really love about this page is the reveal of the true common ground they share here.  They're both very insecure about their worth and chances of being with someone, and they seem to give each other hope against that fear.

Moral judgement of others is the hallmark of ignorance, and as i said in my previous comment: You wont find a single human being who does not close its eyes over immoral things when it suits him or her. That includes you.

The most ridiculous thing in existence is when a human being attempts to establish a moral high ground.

Yes, I responded to your post of essentially the same comment already.  And I agree that you have a very valid point.

But I still believe that we should try to be better where we can, and not just flop over because "fuck it we're all awful anyway".

I recognize we're all guilty in our own ways, and all selectively blind.  We're simply not built to take on all the evils of the world at once.

I don't necessarily condone self-indulgent moral grandstanding.  I certainly don't want to see people judged and made miserable for things beyond their control, either.

Taking on all the evils of the world all the time is just an impossible standard of decency.  Just do what you can, where you can, to make the world a better place.

(I'd also argue that there IS a meaningful difference in evil regarding malice, intent, magnitude, willfulness, etc., and that not all evil is created equal.  Some crimes ARE worse than others; I'm not about to shrug off those actually perpetrating the serial kidnapping/torture/rape/murder shown because of the circumstances of my phone's manufacture.  But I'm also hesitant to bloat this comment section further with my walls of text.)

I bet that if you find out your neighbour could potentially be a series killer who may be interested in your life, a theoritical discussion on the moral implication of his behaviour would not be the first thing on your mind.

In order for me to draw furry porn, there's got to be something interesting going on to involve it. Otherwise I'd just be doing what everyone else is doing. I want interesting plots!!!

definitely makes a greater draw to it than just generic furry porn with bad writing! ^^

He isn't the sharpest marble in the bag if he thinks his videos of children being raped and murdered doesnt actually hurt anyone.

"ME GETTING OFF TO CHILDREN BEING MURDERED ISNT HURTING ANYONE BTW UR KINK SUX"

when's he gonna punch him and explain why he's wrong because this dumbass clearly aint gonna listen otherwise
builderman1q2w3e4r
5 years, 8 months ago
it's also fairly telling that he probably watches that shit and likes it if he found so many of the same videos so easily but conveniently no BDSM ones. Mindes is clearly lying because all of the videos shown were child pornography, snuff, rape, torture, and other shit, no BDSM, unless he thinks BDSM means  'disemboweling children' or something. And considering how stupid he's been and how he's admitted to thinking shinies are inferior, I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks that.
builderman1q2w3e4r
5 years, 8 months ago

As far as we know, the BDSM he's referring to is his warped perception of the videos that were shown a few pages ago. He has yet to prove any of his points, only deflecting and accusing. He still has to prove that the 'consensual BDSM' things he's "actually" interested in are even real. He sounds an awful lot like someone who gets off to child torture snuff porn but knows he'll go to jail for it so lies to save face.

It's also telling how calm and quick he was to say 'oh its just bdsm' instead of trying to reassure his partner.. More evidence against him for when this racist pedophile goes to jail I guess~
GreenReaper

Counterpoint: maybe some or all of what was shown was actually consensual. I'd say "obviously not all", but we don't know for sure that the shinies going missing didn't actually consent to it, or that those who have been shown aren't just role-playing. Though to me Mindes' past responses suggests that he doesn't really believe that either.

(The usual legal counter-counterpoint: even if it was consensual, it makes a market for that which is not, and/or is dangerous in a way that should be prevented even if individuals want to allow it - possibly because society will have to pay for the medical care likely to be required, and/or "dignity of man/pokemon" arguments.)
builderman1q2w3e4r

I dont think a child begging for his life or a braixen being choked to death is consensual

Yeesh.. it gets a bit more scary when it's a position I know I wouldn't know how to handle myself, that I've been in before, not knowing what the right choice to make is, yet the moment with the person is ruined...
WerewolfSummers

I don't see what the big deal is, why he can't just go to another website. If there's internet, obviously there'd be more websites that would pander to that specific type of fetish more than just that specific one. If anything, Mindes is just using his fetish as an excuse to not switch to something else because he's comfortable with not caring about others but himself.
I get both perspectives, but seriously....paying for porn and not switching to something specifically about that particular fetish, but staying with something illegal and abusive that comes along with it, let alone endorsing it with money?  Mindes is most definitely in the wrong here.

ImaginaryVoice

Question, is Page 34 the stuff Mindus recently looked up or are they new submissions on the home page? Because if it's the former, then Mindus' fetish does indeed hurt people. Besides BDSM, there were Abuse and straight up Depressing pics.(The Braxien getting strangled, the Zangoose painting itself to look normal, the Salazzle getting burned alive, and of course that Zorua getting hated on.) Wanting to screw/get screwed by a sentient blob of poisonous slime is self-harm at worst.

And if it's the latter, he'd still be a little in the wrong even if it's not entirely his fault. Paying for this site would be a huge red flag if any lover figured it out.
