Gender is not a social construct

And saying that it is actually harms the general public's understanding of trans people and transgenderism. Transgenderism is a medical condition where you're brain mapping does not match what your body actually is. E.G. A trans man is biologically female but they have the brain mapping of a male.

I'll call a person whatever they want me to call them. That's respect.
But I quickly become called intolerant when I am asked to accept gender spectrum theory as scientifically sound and not fantasy, and do not.

IMO most people who claim to be non-binary or on the gender spectrum between male and female are:

1. Confused.
2. Conflated gender with gender roles/stereotype.
3. Special snowflakes.

There's hardly any research on transgenderism, and next to nothing on bigender people...but it doesn't really strike me as odd that a brain can be a mixture of male or female. It wouldn't be nearly as fun as some of these college kids make it out to be.

Part of the trouble is trying to overload a single word with multiple concepts. Some people started using "gender" as equivalent to "sex" in some contexts (perhaps because they don't like using the word "sex"), and then based things on gender rather than sex, despite differing concepts of what "gender" meant.

Some of those links probably shouldn't have existed in the first place, while in other cases there were at least some concrete grounds (e.g. supporting childbearing), and breaking it causes problems.

I'm not entirely convinced that there's a "male brain type". It seems like a form of stereotype-preservation - "oh, they don't match the expectations of how a female thinks, so they must be male in some way" - rather than questioning whether the grounds for categorizing people's thought patterns based on sex are flawed.

As for the issue Kupok raised… pronouns can be a factual assertion by one person about another person, and problems may arise if you have different ideas about what those facts are - are they talking about sex, gender identity, social perceptions of the person's gender…? In some cases using a neutral pronoun such as "they", or the person's name, can be the best compromise.

I'd say for the majority of cases, gender and sex can be used interchangeably. It's only in the rare case of transgenderism where it makes sense to make a distinction between the two. As far as pronouns go...I think it's safe to just respect someone's pronouns unless it's some stupid shit like buns/bunny/bunself or xir/xer/xem. A lot of recent confusion around transgender issues comes from these so-called progressives (called social justice warriors, or SJWs, by many) who get these weird ideas in their head and don't really question them. A lot of people seem confuse sex and gender with each other.

-Sex is different than gender, this is why they both have their own definition, though many people often confuse the two.

Sex: Biological/Genetic. There are 2 sexes: MALE and FEMALE, with anything not being strictly MALE or FEMALE being an ABNORMALITY (sometimes called intersex). Not to be confused with "gender".

Gender: Identity/societal/psychological. How individuals and societies view actions and objects on a scale of MASCULINE or FEMININE (that is right, there are literally 2 genders, anything in between the two is usually just called neuter), this not to be confused with biological sex.

I can break it down even more with the "Nature vs Nurture" argument. Sex is NATURE/genetic. Gender is NURTURE/learned.

A transsexual is a person that has permanently genitally mutilated themselves to be a different sex than they were born. They still have not changed their genetics or biological sex and will need a life of hormone therapy, but for legal reasons this is usually considered a sex change.

A transgender is a person that is still their birth sex but acts/dresses/believes they are not that sex, but usually do not go through with any permanent operations or genital mutilation. In the past, transgenders were called transvestites and sometimes cross-dressers.

Also, "brain-mapping" or "body-mapping" is based off of "Phrenology" which has been massively debunked as Pseudoscience. This is the same crap from years ago when people were trying to say "GAY brains" and "STRAIGHT brains" are different, while the answer to this may be "yes" (two different people having different brain imaging results), people often forget to mention that "all brains" are different and results of the "studies" were "inconclusive".

Sorry, but male and female brains are structured differently due to sexual dimorphism. It's not based on silly stereotypes  but certain centers of the brain are different in men and women. Some aspects of gender roles are nurtured into us, however plenty of those same gender roles and stereotypes have their basis in biology.

By the way, look up the tragic case of David Reimer. His case is a perfect example as to how gender isn't a social construct.
