Frequently Asked Questions

Since I haven't written a journal in a while, I figured I'd take the time to answer some of the most common questions I get. I've separated them by interest for ease of viewing.

Professional

Q: Do you take commissions?
A: Yes! Details are here.

Q: How about trades? Requests?
A: I don't take trades in general unless we're already pretty close art-friends, and even then I tend to just prefer doing stuff off the cuff. I don't take Requests, but I do take Suggestions. The difference is that a Request implies I'll draw it whereas Suggestions are just things I can add to my maybe-some-day list of stuff I'd like to draw.

Q: You must make a lot of money!
A: My commissions are dirt cheap and I take a ton of them. I make enough money to eat and pay for
Chaytel
Chaytel
's care and that's about it.

Q: What won't you draw in a commission?
A: Gore, Vore, Scat and Watersports are a hard 'no.' Anything else is largely fine, but be aware I ultimately still reserve the right to turn down your idea.

Q: In my commission from you, can I do a sex thing with this character?
A: Sure! Unless they're from Partners, then it's probably a 'no.' They're totally down for canonically consistent sexual encounters though!

Q: Can I draw//write/commission someone else for a picture involving your characters?
A: Yes. Unequivocally yes. If you're trying to do something that I would like myself, then there are guides further down as to help that, but I will not make a single move to stop you from using my characters any way you like, even if it's something I'm not personally into. Artistic Freedom goes both ways.

Q: I see you do Let's Play as well, is that a business venture?
A: First of all, you're probably thinking of
Chaytel
Chaytel
, who does the majority of LP between us. Secondly, I just do my portion of it for fun.

Q: Is Chaytel's Patreon also your own?
A: Nope. All funding to his Patreon goes squarely to Chay Plays and to him.

Artistic
Q: I love the way you draw! How can I learn to draw like that?
A: Thanks! If you'd like to know what techniques I use, you have several options: Attend one of my streams, look into my Art Journey pool, or just ask me for a specific tutorial!

Q: Do you accept critique? Do you give it?
A: Yes and yes! As long as that critique doesn't boil down to "I like x better, you should have drawn x," I'm more than happy to accept input. If I say, however, that I'm intentionally drawing something a certain way, I'm not refusing to take criticism- I've simply already considered that angle and like to draw that specific thing wrong on purpose for aesthetics.Things like impossibly perky breasts or thighs too small for the hips/ass they're attached to. I know how to do it 'right,' I just like contrast. And if you want critique, I will happily give you some constructive criticism and constructive praise. Because it's just as important to know what you've done right as wrong.

Q: What art programs do you use?
A: Paint Tool Sai 2 and Photoshop 6. I legally own both programs, and enjoy using them. Well, Sai anyway; PS6 is a dinosaur, but it's good for post production and that's all I use it for.

Q: I like your art, but I hate this one thing you draw!
A: I exhaustively tag all of my drawings for your convenience. Go to Account -> Settings -> Block By Keyword, and add the tags you don't like! You'll never see another picture you don't approve of. And if you don't know what it's called, ask me! If it's not a tag, I'll make it one. Isn't Inkbunny the best?

Q: Yeah, about that. You draw a whole lot of not-cubs. Why Inkbunny?
A: It's true that the majority of what I draw wouldn't get removed on other sites, but I like having the option to upload those things. Besides, I brought the 'oppai_loli' tag to this site and straight-up invented 'lolidonk!' I'm into it, I just have a lot of interests.

Q: I wanna draw/write something you in particular would like! What are your fun kinks?
A: Oh boy, delightful! See this reference for information on my kinks.

Q: What the heck is Orientation Play anyway? Is that DLC?
A: It's a situation where a staunchly straight or gay person is brought into bisexual sex by someone exceptionally attractive or comical circumstances. Emphasis is placed on characters being exceptions to the rule.

Q: What is Partners? Is it a porn thing??
A: It is my original fiction furry sci-fi adventure novel and it starts here! No, it's not a porn thing, despite what my art might imply. Still, I encourage you to give it a try! And if you want a porn story, check out that particular pool, or Razz 'n Daz.

Personal

Q: Are you a Pedophile?
A: Nope! I'm a hebephile. But I'm also attracted to adults. Also, more importantly, I don't touch kids, and I don't tolerate other adults touching kids. They're germ factories, don't do it.

Q: Are you a SJW?
A: Kind of! Compared to your average person I'm definitely more on the progressive side. I think enforced gender roles are dumb for men and women, I believe in Universal Basic Income, and that people should generally be in charge of themselves but considerate of others- either side of the usual debate likes one of those and eschews the other. I frequently butt heads with other progressives, however, especially in the subject of porn.

Q: Are you nuts?
A: I am in fact Paranoid Schizophrenic. I've improved over the years in general, but there's only so much I can do about it. I have problems not feeling irrationally targeted and hated, and build grudges out of nothing without realizing it. The Paranoid part is very very important, and I ask that you keep this in mind when dealing with me.

Q: I've seen you let people talk about politics in your stream. Why do you allow this?
A: People's ideas remaining unchallenged is the biggest sin of modern media. If you can't hear from the perspectives of people who have lived different lives than yours, you can't really develop a nuanced opinion. A good rule of thumb is that if your opinion came from someone else, you haven't thought it through enough. I just ask that people be respectful of each other in general.

Q: Can we chat??
A: I don't generally chat. Not because I'm unfriendly, but because my time is taken up by many many things. God knows the friends I already have hate how little I sign on!

I can confirm the amount that Nori signs on is infuriatingly small. :|

I feel that me and you share a lot of similar views, I too fail to see the point and usefulness of people feeling a need for men and women to take on gender roles, it just doesn't make any sense in a world that is trying to rid ourselves of the shackles of ignorance our ancestors created when concerning the treatment of men and women.

To me gender only tells me what type of body you have, even knowing that, a man can still claim to be a woman and vice versa because its how they truly feel deep down and its best to respect that. Also I am a big fan of people being free to be honest about who they are, since its always more interesting that way. Women can be just as tough as men and men can be really into their feminine side no matter what their sexual orientation.

Though as much as I would love to see a world where everyone will ignore what they see and just do what's right regardless of gender of the person in question, but sadly too many people just don't want to stop looking at people's bodies for judgement on how to treat others and that just saddens me. Ack! I babbled so much here, sorry about that ^^;

I've got one you can add to the FAQ: "How does the correspondence commissions list work?" I only ask 'cuz I've been checking the list for months and it seems to barely move at all. ^_^;

It's slow as dirt is why. I've been trying to work at it but I don't have a ton of time to, and everyone buys like 5 page colored comics. :p

Ah, I see. So many of the correspondence commissions tend to be bigger projects.

Too bad you can't feature journals like you can feature submissions. This could be a very useful page!

Sorry, just to clarify, about the paranoid schizophrenia: "I have problems not feeling irrationally targeted and hated..." This sounds like a double-negative and throws me off x_x (not trying to be a dick, btw)
Norithics
8 years, 6 months ago
Well if the sentence was "I have problems with being irrationally targeted and hated," that would imply either other people are at fault and/or that my problem is with other people doing that. The way I wrote it means that I feel irrationally targeted and hated and this is a problem for me.
Zevaxx
8 years, 6 months ago
Ah, I see- the problem for you is that you feel this way, correct? ...Still, I don't get that detail from how you wrote it. Just me, I guess x_x
Norithics
8 years, 6 months ago
Yeah it's 100% a perception problem, ergo the "paranoid" part.

By the way, thank you so much for always tagging your submissions appropriately. Everyone should, but it's a bit of consideration on your part that saves me a whole lot of headache.

FAQs from artists are one of my favorite things, and I've been hoping to get one from you since I first came here (the whole reason I'm on Inkbunny is because I followed you here.) Anyway, I find that I strongly agree with you about a lot of stuff mentioned here, particularly the gender stuff.

Also, props to you for being open and unashamed about your mental illness and sexuality. That's not always easy, but it is important.

Interesting read. I think I knew a few bits from this just from following you for so long, but it's good to have it all in one place!

For the gay/straight-to-bi kink: Does that interest also apply to straight-to-gay conversions and vice versa or only to bi? Even in only a "it's good, but this kind is better" sort of way, since I can understand that going bi would be much more realistic than an entire orientation conversion. Even if not, I might might MIGHT want to write a short story for you involving such a topic, if I can get off my lazy butt and write more than a paragraph before stopping forever.
Norithics
8 years, 6 months ago
Well that's the thing! We've all seen the straight-to-gay conversion stories, there's a billion of them. But like you said, it's not really realistic for someone to go "I completely dislike this previous thing now and only like this new thing." It's much more exciting when it's like "Oh god wait I had it all figured out but now I want this! I can't reconcile it! Which somehow makes it more hot?!"
Seth65
8 years, 6 months ago
Ah, alright. Thought I'd ask. I'm just more used to the black and white straight-to-gay kind, so wasn't sure if that was also acceptable. I think I might have a handle on the concepts driving the bi version though. But then, maybe not.

Also I would love to look through this trove of a billion straight-to-gay stories. They're quite hard to find in my experience. They're there, but usually only like a handful per site.

I can totally relate to the lack of chat sign-on. Lots of good info here. Neat!

I know it would be a huge challange, but imagine if Nori drew/animated some moments from Chaytel's stream just for the lol and to raise awareness of it.

*nearly chokes on his drink on one of the questions* What?! There's someone else on Inkbunny who casually announces an attraction to children, AND who differentiates between pedophilia and hebephilia?! Good God, man, you're as crazy as I am! Though, I have opted to announce my own hebephilia on my profile's first paragraph, so I guess I'm still the craziest one. Seems we differ on the philosophical component, though we also probably have similar tastes in characters.

You also get bonus points for rather blithely admitting to paranoid schizophrenia, which I suppose trumps autism in that regard. Do you need medication for that, or did you go the therapy and self-management route? I have no experience with that disorder and I like acquiring knowledge, so I might as well ask about this while I have you here.

I can't believe we're both femboy raccoons (at least, our personae) and both love pontificating on Inkbunny. Long live Inkbunny and perverted 'coonbois!

Small world, right?

Schizophrenia is one of those diseases where you aren't medicated because it's good for the patient, but rather because it's more convenient for your family. My situation is... manageable. I know that I'd much rather deal with the worst aspects of it than to ever get back on the drugs; they're far worse than the disease.

I'm also of the opinion that mental illness isn't really a competition, everyone's struggle is their own. But either way, it's nice to see anyone being more open about these types of things.

Oh, yes, I've not heard good things about anti-psychotics. I'm sure at least for some people they greatly improve quality of life, but, they tend to cause unpleasant temporary and permanent side effects, like akathisia and diabetes and tardive dyskinesia. They tried a few of them on me for anxiety, but none of them worked, nor did any of the others work for anxiety. The industry seems way too eager to go with medication. I personally would rather die than have to be on SSRIs or anti-psychotics and have such a terrible quality of life either way. Ironically, of course, our culture sees allowing death as immoral, but not enforcing a life that is worse than death.

Is there any specific type of therapy that you use? How do you determine whether a fear is rational or not, and how do you combat those which seem erroneous? How are such fears set off? Does it cause disablement or is it merely disruptive? I don't have much experience, commonalities, or knowledge to go on. I of course have similar fears and internal debates as to whether people actually harbor ill will, but they don't rise to the level of paranoia and often I really AM hated. The FWA chairman this year admitted to my face my panel was rejected merely due to my ideology, which just confirmed my rather exclusionary and suspicious social doctrine and original assumptions about them. Most local furries probably don't give a damn either way, but a core group does wish me ill will.

Well, no, I wasn't actually asserting there's a real contest or that it would be good if one existed. I just have a rather perverse sense of humor which is greatly enhanced by my natural repulsibility due to my political beliefs and the lengths I'll go to insulate myself from negative outcomes and people. I've actually had two psychotherapy candidates basically say I was too ill to wish to treat (both of which have heightened expertise with autism), the second also being rude to me and was right after my community services and I concurred I was too autonomous and stable to warrant any further help from them. Of course, their reactions to my document to vet candidates affirms that decision. Therefore, it's rather humorous to facetiously turn it into a contest and proclaim I'm the winner.
