Inkbunny's submission storage increased by 50%

A reconfiguration of Inkbunny's main storage array has increased usable submission storage by 50%.

This brings us in line with our new backup server, and is enough for over five years of submissions at current rates of growth (~1GB/day).

Inkbunny currently hosts over 850GB of submissions and thumbnails, thanks to support from our donors.

I remember my very first pc had a 20gb hard drive, and I thought   "This is amazing, no one will EVER be able to fill this much space!"

15 years later..

In a way, it's amazing that we don't use more. Our policies help - photo galleries suck up the GBs.

You can get 8TB hard drives now. Crazy. (Of course, there are other considerations for servers.)

It's totally amazing. Gamer buddy of mine has 16TB of disk space available to him. And now I'm thinking the same as Razrien did fifteen years ago.
1.2 Zettabytes (1.3 trillion gigabytes) is the estimated size of mans collective knowledge stored in cyberspace. And it's getting bigger, daily. In fifteen years, who even knows if a PC with 16TB of capacity will be impressive.

Reconfiguration? What exactly did you change? You don't usually hear about array reconfigurations giving more useable space unless you took it out of one array volume and put it into another....expanded the array by replacing drives with higher capacity ones or changed RAID mode (Which is obviously not the case I'm sure).

We did change RAID levels, in fact! Follow the link for full details - this is a non-technical summary. :-)

Woohoo, lots of surplus storage! Now let's make as much porn as possible so we'll run out of storage within a year! *bursts into maniacal and facetious laughter*
