Hmm? A little bit about me? Well...
I draw things. That's really all it is when you get down to it. I prefer wood as a medium, as it seems to speak to me more than paper. (I know... Wood speaks to me... Sounds crazy, eh? It's a good thing I'm not saying this literally. I'd need a shrink...)
However, since it'd be a pain to try lugging around a wood burning kit and several scraps of wood everywhere I went, I do occasionally sit down and draw things out, Not only do I find it cathartic, but, like most folks, drawing was my first step into the artistic world.
I'm usually pretty upbeat about things in general. I dress pretty nicely, I've got a friendly demeanor, and I try to be a pretty happy guy. Despite this, I do have a serious penchant for the macabre, Most of my artistic endeavors tend toward darker subjects than one would hope to see in everyday life.
I don't know why this is, though I like to think that it gives me a release for aggression, depression, and stress, rather than letting the angrier parts of my being control my life, or forcing them to rot in the pit of my soul.
I appreciate criticism. Now, when I say this, I don't mean to give everyone free license to gurgle out an illiterate insult of my work. (Please, "YO DAWG MAKE IT BETTA," is not necessary, nor is it wanted. It does not make you cool. It makes you an idiot.) Nor am I asking for any form of 'sucking-up,' as it were.
I am asking for people to, in a civil tone, pick apart my work and tell me what they really thing, not from the technical stance most people take, but from an artistic one. If I wanted a two word criticism telling me how good it is, I'd ask my mom.
Having said all that, I'll cut this short before I begin to ramble.
Keep your stick on the ice!
Cheers,
Dizzy.
