Demon Hunt
Last in pool
(Apologies for the funky patterns in the other corners. The drawing was squeezed in on a page with several others, which I could not crop out.)

Among the Fallen, beings who have learned to craft the elements, and bend their will into reality, are highly valued, as their abilities are often the only way to counter the acts of sorcery performed with zeal and regularity by the enemy's Lesser Demons. More valuable still, are those who have honed their abilities with the elements to a mastery of their craft, as well as becoming quite fearsome with a blade.
Here we see the Fallen warmage Archarius, accompanied by his apprentice and friend, the mouse Adonis.
In life, Archarius was pure white in fur, but his transgressions on the mortal plane left him marked in the afterlife with streaks of pitch black. Though small and somewhat less noticable at first, they spread slightly as his abilites in elemental coercion increase. They are thus, not only a reminder of why he is not worthy to set foot in Heaven, but an indicator of his strength.

The textured edges on your piece of artwork has something wonderful in it that I don't often see in many illustrative artist's work. You used a textured surface to shade that, right? It' a pretty inventive shading technique, and you should continue to play with methods like that, because it seems you have the capacity to pull it off. :) Also, it's amazing that you put that much thought behind the image. It's not just one of those "look gais, he's swummin," or, "ohmagawd, they're doing it. . . >..<," types of things. I'd like to see more, keep up the good work.

Actually, the edges, assuming we're talking about the same ones, are simply the result of what I do when speedsketching. No special surface was used, just the next page of the sketchbook. Nevertheless, thank you!
And I completely agree with you on the idea of putting thought into an image. If there's one thing I know about art, it's that it's supposed to have at least a bit of depth and some form of meaning. It is for this very reason that I have developed a seething disdain for the simple fact that pornographic artwork is as popular as it is. It just bugs me to see some of the most amazing furry artists retain a shadowfur status, while every jagawf who draws sex scenes gets thousands of views. It's not about "integrity," as it were... It's about the difference between drawing and art, and I have every intention to make sure that any of my doodlings that aren't the result of both an emotional and logical process, never make the public eye.
