Hey everyone! I thought I'd create a journal for the first time since opening substar almost a year ago, and wanna give everyone an update about how I'm doing, what I'm doing, and what's planned ahead...
I keep an open door policy on requests. They can be referred to as "Mystery Box Requests."
How Mystery Box Requests work
Mystery Box Requests work more like a raffle where it's not guaranteed you will get an idea drawn once submitted. Basically, they're art requests you throw towards me in hopes that I would accept and draw.
Send me a DM on either telegram or IB (I no longer use discord for art), and let me know what you would like me to do! Simple! Here's the catch.. If I choose to accept it, what you get in return will be sort of a random crate of sorts. You could get a doodle, or even a full blown painting if you butter me up with the right ideas.
Do Mystery Requests cost money?
Simply sending a request costs absolutely nothing! Money will only be involved AFTER the art is completed or doodled. Depending on what you receive, I will ask how much YOU THINK is an appropriate amount to pay for it. DO NOT FEEL OBLIGATED TO PAY ME! Free can be an answer! If you are adamant about paying money, give me a range of your budget beforehand with your request. Sometimes I will draw for free depending on the mood but its all part of the mystery! Examples of requests below.
Good Example 1: Hi! I love your art and would love to see you draw my girl! I'm not looking for a really big thing since I don't have any money but I would love to see what you come up with! End Result: I gave them a full painting for free!
Good Example 2: Hey ya! I saw that you do requests and was hoping if you could draw my oc with your otter. I'm willing to compensate ya for your time depending on what I get! End Result: Offer accepted, and I drew them a hot scene without a background. They chose to tip me $80 wow!
Bad Example: Wassup Coma? Could I get a doodle of my boi naked in a side view with his pants on the ground all cute like? He's in the restroom with his friend who is in a 3/4 view with the shadow casting down on the floor in front of him. Also, can he include this cool sci fi ultra detailed uniform. They're fur color is magenta not purple and he has cool detailed dragon wings. I have $50, what do you say? End Result: Offer declined, too specific and also I don't know what a $50 painting looks like.. also wut? I draw cartoon cubs not sci fi detailed dragon boys
REALLY IMPORTANT: Do NOT assume that simply because you contacted me, it will guarantee I draw something in return. Remember its a request (w/ tips), not a commission. I'm not a fan of being ordered around. Be nice to the ottie plz!
Rules and Tips for a successful request
Things I love to draw and/or I draw the most include cub or adult, all mustelids (otters, weasels, badgers, etc), all foxes, cats, dogs, rabbits, raccoons, rodents, zootopia style stuff, some anthro bird characters, most cute anthro mix type characters, some ferals (depends on the type)
Try and keep very detailed stuff out of the request. This includes complex time consuming details and also incredibly specific ideas. You're chances of success increase greatly with this in mind.
Also just simply take a look at my gallery and get a vibe of what I like to do kink wise and character wise. This knowledge will also greatly benefit your request!
I DON'T or NOT INTERESTED in drawing include gore (slight blood is okay), scat, hyper, violence, snuff or watersports. I will do some non-con but as long as it's not moderately injuring one of the characters. I'm not against these things, just not interested in drawing them.
