So, I had to talk to my wife a little about the last panel. After going back and rereading this, I realized that we're not really sure what's made Chucky so upset. Is he crying for Merry because he'll miss her, or is he crying because he thinks she was his only chances at getting laid? I almost changed his lines in the thought cloud because I thought it seemed too selfish. Then I realized how genuine his way of thinking is. I totally thought like that when I was his age.

I'd say it's both. He certainly will miss her, and he also certainly thinks she was his best shot at having a girlfriend here. But he hasn't met even a fraction of the girls attending this school, so he could still meet a great girl, if he would just open his eyes and socialize, and not act so desperate for the first smile to turn into a torrid affair.

Maybe they got a misunderstanding and not everything got smooth, but they could've work it out.
Now it's up to - if Chucky ever gonna meet her again and BEFORE he'd hook up with another cutie. And what will he do in both cases.

Aww poor Chucky... he's always affective and caring to his friends. She's a bad gal and a cheater, but anyways Chucky miss her much. Likes much the new comic pages dude, you have draw nicely emotions and feelings on them, nice job, always improving your style and art, keep it up. ^^

Oh wow he is making a Jappesen or ATP test the four forces in flight, the angle of attack subject, I think then comes something about the glide slope with the PAPI lights and the relation between temperature and dew point its incredible my friend.

well, even just as a realy colse female friend would be good for him since people are rather emotional she could cheer him up. even more drama and chucky maybe just step outside a plane in mid air

I figured both, plus guilt for the fact he made her cry right before she got told that she was expelled. I was kind of surprised at how people were bad mouthing Merry previously. She had a problem for sure, but she was not poison or a bad person from what I have seen and read. What she probably should do is look into being a flight attendant. She has the personality for it, and they would love that she has a little bit of flight schooling in her resume.

Just because Merry won't be attending classes anymore doesn't mean that she and Chucky can't see each other again.
Although she will probably end up moving back to her hometown or something...

Naw, it's real; it's how EVERYBODY thinks at that age. Every loss, every heartache is always and forever- truly the end of the world. Mostly, it's the lack of perspective from being very young. You've never had to gut anything out, so you've got no sense of your own capabilities. Put some illnesses and injuries, some deaths, and about a million heartaches, and you find that you're a fair bit tougher than you thought.
Chucky should see this as emotional preparation for his first crash.

Looks like Chucky took my Option B from my comment on the last page "going to head to his test and feel miserable during it and not do as well, for can't stop thinking about Merry."

Anyways, feel real bad for him, know exactly what he's going through. He should have stayed out from the test when the teacher gave him the chance.

Honestly? I didn't read the last pannel as 'getting laid'. I read it both as 'close friend' and 'possible girlfriend' =P
Wasn't until reading your description that I saw it could also mean 'I'll miss the sex'

Altough most guys would think that way (a missed chance for sex), I don't doubt poor Chuck is sad about the missed chance to go steady as well. It's easy to tell how he really feels about Merry...

'True airspeed?' Seriously!? Some aviation airhead thought he would sound so smart by inventing a new term that is completely unnecessary? Aviation is all about physics! Why change a term for no reason whatsoever? Does 'velocity' mean something different in aviation?

Sorry if I'm hung up about something different from everybody else. I just hate it when people want to complicate things for no reason other than to make them feel like they contributed something when they didn't.

By the way, that instructor is pretty damn cool. I wish I had more like him when I was going through college.

And Chucky aces the test despite being distracted, thus proving he has the right stuff. :p After all, in real life, pilots typically don't get the option of sitting things out if they're emotionally upset.
