As many of you are aware, I now live in the coldest state in the country, and there is snow EVERYWHERE. Usually. That also means that I have an entirely new medium to create art with. But, as I found out, it is not often that we get a substantial amount of the right kind of snow for making snow sculptures.
So, on one lucky occasion a few months ago (I forgot to upload it then), that we had enough (just barely) of the good snow, I jumped at the opportunity to make a snowman. In a spur of the moment decision as I was making the head, I decided to instead make a furry-themed snow man, and the end result was this here fox. Isn't he pretty awesome? The whiskers are very thin clusters of twigs I pulled off a nearby bush, and the tail was a branch broken from one of the many evergreens that grow in my backyard. The poofiness of the tail is what made me decide he was a fox. The head was easily the toughest part. I used an additive process and attached the ears and muzzle to the normal snowman head base, and getting them to stay on was not easy.
He stands proudly upon a pot that once held some kind of plant that is now very dead. I put him up there to make him more easily visible from the kitchen window, and to protect him from my real dog's perpetual habit of "marking" anything new. No sense in Foxy here looking like he couldn't hold it...
I'm glad I took this picture when I did, because the very next day it was ~40 degrees and pouring rain, which quickly melted the snow and reduced him to only the core of his base :c
