Well as you can imagine, it was very depressing to have my first snow sculpture destroyed within 24 hours of its creation, but like a true artist I got back up and went at it again. My second snow fox used the leftover tail of the first, and while overall smaller he looked a lot better. Instead of the additive process used in the first, my second fox was made with a subtractive process, wherein I deliberately made the head too large for the body and carved the shape of the muzzle and ears out so they and the rest of the head were all one piece. All in all, a much better-looking fellow.
TOO BAD HE WAS DESTROYED BEFORE I COULD GET A PHOTO.
Yes, my camera was dead at the time I made my second fox, and he suffered a similar fate to the first. However, instead of the rain melting him down, it was purely the warm weather. While the rest of the US was going through that major cold spell, up here in Anchorage we were getting an early taste of spring. 40+ degree weather for weeks, and ALL the snow and ice was melting, which led to a very ugly environment. Slush and water and mud as far as the ice can see. Poor little Foxy Jr never stood a chance. He was gone within hours.
FAST FORWARD A MONTH OR SO, and a few days ago we finally started getting good snow again. It packed really well, but there just wasn't enough of it to do more than make snowballs. Then yesterday the skies opened up and it must've snowed nonstop for over 15 hours. We accumulated about eight inches on top of the previous three or so. SO, I decided to make good use of the bountiful good snow, and here is Foxy the Third. I made him just like V1, including re-using the tail that miraculously survived, but the head in the fashion of V2. By the time I finally finished this big boy I nearly contracted frostbite in my feet (the boots I was wearing had no insulation). I decided to forego the whiskers and buttons, mainly because I had lost all feeling in my extremities and just wanted to get inside.
So behold, my third snow fox. Hold your applause, please. He doesn't like the spotlight.
