Escape the Arcadia (Game!) by SeruleBlue

Forget waiting around for help. You're better than that! How fast can you escape? >:D

This game will probably take about 10 to 15 minutes at the most; I'd say it's one of the easier games of this genre.

I wanted to try completely finishing a smaller game. This took me about 2 days to make. Good luck and have fun!

I suck. got stuck at the top of the elevator. no card.
Nymousano
10 years, 9 months ago
There is a card; it´s just hard to find.
Nymousano
10 years, 9 months ago
Okay, it was hard to find the *beep* to remove the *beep* and take off the *beep* where the *beep* to unlock the *beep* was hidden so the door would open or to find the *beep* to unlock the *beep* at the *beep* on the *beep*. Finding the *beep* behind the *beep* wasn´t easy either. But if there´s a *beep* reader, you need a *beep* to activate it, of course, and to finally escape the elevator it was neccessary, so it must´ve been hidden anywhere in the elevator... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still didn´t find the secret though; could you PM me? I found the *beep* but don´t understand it.

Thanks, I just read the guide, I was thinking in factorial numbers and making superextrange operations with the button numbers ! lol!

numbers with ! are factorials , but also "not" in programing . Lol I not catch the similars with that thing

Well, it is and isn't, If it was a building that had around 13 floors, teh builders would add one more floor to avoid the 13th, so in that sense you are right, but in this case, the 13th floor is avoided as teh final floor, so it is a building

Imageshack removed the solution guide. I beated the game in 9 minutes and some seconds, but without the secret. And now I probably found a 'part' of the secret, but I can't tell if those are factorials, matrices or whatever else. x3

Refresh, please. I changed the link since the first one had a small typo.
Don't worry; there's no math involved for the secret.
And thanks for playing! c:

Got it! Man I had to look at the guide because, well, I managed to do everything right EXCEPT for the switches. I inverted the combination.

I found the loose panel completely by accident. I might have gotten stuck there if I hadn't
Nymousano
10 years, 9 months ago
Same here. I found the lock´s combination by starting with 001, then I tried 002, 003, 004, ... -_-;
MystBunny
10 years, 9 months ago
Not that lock. The combination is written somewhere. Gotta open the doors first. Opening the doors were the problem. But wow, that's 1000 possible combinations you were going through. hehe
Nymousano
10 years, 9 months ago
I know what you mean; I also found the loose panel where the keycard was hidden by accident. The lock was just another example. And yes, I made my way to the combination this way. Took me not that much time. Also I knew I´ll get it eventually, sooner or later, and if I´m sure I eventually reach my goal, I have the patience of a donkey! XD Well, not only the patience but the stubborness either... ^^; Just call me Stubborn The Stoic. ;-)

Hi there. I escaped in 9:21.27 but apparently I didn't find a secret. Anyway this is pretty nice. Were you inspired by Mystery of Time And Space?
SeruleBlue
10 years, 9 months ago
Thanks for playing, and I hadn't heard of that until now.
I remember playing other games like this (Escape the Car, Escape the Phone Booth) a long time ago, and now I was like 'oh, I know how to program and Flash now; let's try making one'. xD

If you like this sort of games, I strongly recommend checking out Mystery of Time and Space. It's one of the best games of this type. It should be easy to Google for it if you want to take a look. :)

What I'd do when I'm stuck on an elevator? Watch this on my iPad and hope my situation won't work out as bad as Pinback's! :P https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5YTXnnQjC4
SeruleBlue

DaddyDuckyBE

It's not even the whole elevator scene that's on YouTube only in b/w:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWPrYaFr9yM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PePSQtc5YPU

The ending to the scene is even more hilarious! XD

It's from one of my favorite movies, Dark Star (1974) which was John Carpenter's master thesis on film school, a black-humor parody of Kubrick's 2001 which holds up well on its own. Basically, it's about the antics of four hippies in space getting on each other's nerves, and their ship's toilet paper supply has been destroyed by a close encounter with a cloud of small meteorites long ago! :P

It was co-written by Carpenter's co-student Dan O'Bannon who also played Sgt. Pinback in it. Because of bad marketing as serious sci-fi, the film didn't reach its target comedy audience and turned out a box office bomb, but became a cult hit on VHS a decade later. Because of the film's bad cinematic run, O'Bannon decided that, "If I can't make people laugh, maybe I can scare them", so he went and wrote Alien which has many plot similarities with Dark Star.

Although because of being a student project most of Dark Star was filmed in 16mm, the image quality is nowhere as bad as that of most video telecines or all DVDs of it that derive from an early-80s telecine that was made by Carpenter himself directly onto an NTSC VHS tape. Carpenter's VHS telecine is blurry, shows a strong red color cast, and has pinups shown in the background in the crew's sleeping room further electronically blurred. A good PAL telecine of the film exists, but it was never issued on VHS or DVD (although some DVDs show an amount of more or less color correction to compensate for the red cast of Carpenter's telecine), and as far as I know was only shown twice after midnight on VOX, a German cable TV channel, during the 90s.

BTW, in the second part linked above, the elevator scene doesn't continue until 2:40.

And here's the Wikipedia link to the movie: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Star_(film)

Hammerspace - the place where toons store hammers, pies, and any other tool or weapon they need, until needed. The Fan-fic FAMILY qbout the Warner kids describes in detail how the hammerspace is developed & used, by toons genetically gifted with such (Warner preferred to use toons with hammerspaces, while Disney was satisfied with ungifted toons.).
SeruleBlue
10 years, 7 months ago
Gotta love Hammerspace. Not just toons have it nowadays, either - video game protagonists commonly possess this ability, too.
I give it a shout out in Cyberslide in the form of Hammerspace Tower; the skyscraper where the protagonists live in. ^_^

I made substantial progress in this game, getting the doors open and the ceiling hatch open to look around on top. The ID cartridge has many functions, incl. setting volume on the music.

Right now, I am having serious problems with a virus or viruses. Trying to run- heck, even starting - the 'net gives me nothing but a stubborn fight with crap error messages and endless crashing. I earlier stopped and corrected a deranged McAfee with a system restore, when that psychotic behaivor continued the next day- and now I will try certain options, the instructions to which are stored in my eMail and in the wiki. I am running on "safe" mode. Your escape game won't run in "safe" mode. It locks up at the start of the countdown.

I am also having personal problems in the real world. any confusion in the above wording - blame it on my messed up head.
