back story: the care taker blob was a lab accident that seemed to go past the original intent, the lab techs were trying top create a stem sell goo that could be used to create cloned tissue and possibly whole organs, when they created the first prototype batch it started to compress into a solid ball 1/4 of an inch big. It then grew hair thin strands that grew to over half a meter in length. they put it in a storage jar full of water and had left it there for the night. But when they came back they found the huge blob oozing around the lab with several sounded and sick pokemon inside it, they assumed the worst and tried to get one out. to their surprise the blob did not resist or try to stop them. They then discovered that one of the pokemon that had a terminal organ defect was actually recovering, the slime inside it's body still was repairing the damage cell by cell. they studied this in greater detail and found the creature was slowly healing them from the inside out, providing them nutrients as well as oxygen directly into their bloodstream. they were very excited by this happy accident and quickly told their boss about this, but when he heard it had no military value or any thing like that he ordered them to destroy it. they knew what this meant and had a plan for that, but they couldn't just kill this wonderful creature.
