I'd done the lineart and base colors for this, but didn't have any idea how to do the glowing platform she was standing on. I asked him about it, and after Anthrocon, he had it done and it ended up looking pretty much exactly how I'd imagined. I'm really happy with it.
Mostly just trying to get more practice drawin' mechanical stuff. I started thinking about the roboticizing machine and how, if Gadget could tinker with the machine and get rid of that pesky 'destroying free will' thing, she'd probably be really fascinated by the process!

Retaining free will HAS been done, and was part of the original concept -but Robotnik messed up the machine. Uncle Chuck was horrified when his test subject,a mortally wounded Mobian (Sonic's dad) became a robot slave. An override chip behind the ear would sometimes retain free will.
When Knuckles, robotized with free will, grappled with a robotized Sonic, now loyal to Robotnik, an epic battle of nuclear intensity resulted ! (a trilogy).

Robotnik was bothered by the fact that occasionally a will-less robotized slave would hesitate to do something . (1) In #29, the robotized Sally could not bring herself to press the button to robotize her comrades. The raging Robotnik shouted HE would do it, but the time wasted while Sally struggled with the command, was enough for the cavalry to arrive !
(2) In the epic #49-50 (and a Special) Mecha-Sonic was to fire on and KILL Tails ,but didn't have the heart to do so. This, in spite of Robotnik's upgrade,to BURN OUT any vestiges of free will in a slave. He then asked Sonic to give the co-ords of Knothole,and he was about to give that data -when Mecha-Knuckles attacked ! I think the accumulative effect of all those power rings Sonic handled over the years,had something to do with this resistance.

I don;t know why I didn't announce it with my earlier comments, but ,., I walked away from Sonic some 11 years ago, with #135. I no longer care what is going on now. I reached the same with DC and MARVEL earlier.
