Chapter 50 - Farewell Millennium Hospital

Optional track to LWR - Listen While Reading
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eTsQ99mQT4

After the events revolving the roller coaster, the MPD remained on high alert for quite some time, scrambling throughout all corners of Millennium City in an effort to find the right Gardevoir and Servine, in the end causing more trouble for everyone in the city than the search was worth as they hunt down the wrong Pokemon and trainers repeatedly, up to the point the citizens throughout the city began protesting the MPD more and more with each passing day... During all of this chaos, the two remained in the hospital for the most part during Chris's recovery, obeying his orders to lay low until things died down completely. Because of this, the two Pokemon spent plenty of time learning the hospitals interior from top to bottom, essentially becoming residents themselves as they slowly became familiar with countless patients and staff within the building simultaneously. More often than not, whenever they left Chris they went into the children's wing of the building,  spending time getting to know them the most and playing with them on a near daily basis.

Although she admittedly didn't care for humans very much, the MPD further pushing her detest, Gardevoir was able to show a more... Forgiving side of herself towards children... Showing a willingness to bond with them and care for them with every visit the two made to their wing. Using her psychic abilities, Gardevoir would let the children essentially fly around her wherever she went as Servine enjoyed taking in the praise the children gave her, admiring her looks and petting her all over. More often than not, Servine would lay on their laps and rest around their necks, usually giving the children who couldn't move around as much the most attention in her own way as Gardevoir did most of the actual playing with the children who were able to be the most active, clumsily trying to build things with blocks only to knock them down every time, also stumbling over things whenever trying to play games involving movement like marco polo. Yet no matter how limited she was in what she could do, the children would always praise her for trying nonetheless, providing her a wholehearted type of affection that can only be obtained from the pure adoration of a child. Whenever she felt down for not being able to do things with them very well, often telling them she was sorry, they would all surround her and give her a pat on the back, laughing and assuring her they were happy just having her around. For some reason... She didn't mind when the children touched her either... In fact, it seemingly made her... Happy.

Throughout this experience, both Servine and Gardevoir were actually able to bond somewhat in the process themselves, finding something new to respect one another for as they spent their days making the children happy in what ways they could, gaining the adoration of the hospitals staff as well as they watched the two during their day to day lives amongst the patients. Curious as to what they were up to whenever they up and left his room, Chris had Gerald randomly keep an eye on the two, reporting about their kindness towards the kids as the weeks passed until Chris was able to leave his room. One day, once he was off the breathing machines and was capable of using his arms, Chris had Gerald bring him one of the hospitals wheelchairs, making his way with Gerald at his side should he need help as they went into the children's wing, watching the two in secret. Amazed at seeing Gardevoir treating humans so kindly with his own eyes, watching the children hang from her arms and floating around her with a smile on her face, he also spotted Servine giving many kids her attention as well, climbing all over them, tickling them and giving them someone to hug, he nodded in approval before quietly rolling into the room behind the two. "Well well... So its all true... I'm impressed..." he told them, causing both Pokemon to jump with a shout in surprise. Facing him in shock over the fact he had left his room, they both faced away embarrassed, a bright blush on their faces as the children blinked at Chris, putting Servine down and letting go of Gardevoir. "Ahh... I'm sorry. These two are my family you see. They're with me! " he told them with a smile. Walking up around Chris, they looked him over curiously, tilting their heads as if a bit confused. "Family...? You're the papa?" one of the youngest asked. Blinking in response before laughing loudly, the two Pokemon dropped their jaws and hid their faces in humiliation, Gerald unable to resist a chuckle as well as he shook his head. "I do suppose that's one way you could see it!" he responded as Chris rubbed the child on the head. "No... I'm not their papa... We're a family because we look out for each other... Keep one another safe and happy... They are my companions, not my children... But I admit do love them as I would any human." he said with a smile, causing Gardevoir to face him with a touched expression, Servine looking away with a tiny smile and rubbing her nose embarrassed as Gerald crossed his arms and nodded with a grunt in approval. As the children looked at Chris and his Pokemon quietly, they began muttering amongst one another until one of the little girls suddenly shot up her hand, hopping in place excitedly. "Oh oh!! We get it!! You're like their boyfriend then!!" she giggled, the group suddenly grinning and giving them a thumbs up, causing the two Pokemon to gasp and flail their arms, shaking their heads rapidly and glowing all the brighter with "D... Don't say that!!!"sounds as Chris let out a loud "woah!!" in response to the little girl, nearly falling backwards in his wheelchair only for Gerald to quickly catch it before it flipped back.

Laughing even louder than Chris had from their last guess, Gerald couldn't resist telling them that was another way of looking at it too, causing Chris and the two Pokemon to glow and groan together as the staff laughed as well, making "tsk tsk" noises while the children giggled, the three looking down silently embarrassed. Climbing onto his wheelchair, several children pat Chris on the head as they laughed, whilst others pat Gardevoir and Servine as well. "Ahh dear me... To be called out and embarrassed by such delightful children... How shameful master Chris..." Gerald teased, nudging him playfully. Once they got over the startle, Chris tried to assure the children and staff things weren't like that, only for both, the children and adults to respond by telling them there wasn't anything wrong with it. Explaining how they had overheard Gardevoir telling the kids various stories about their journey with him, they understood how they could wind up in such a relationship as a result, oddly enough seeing nothing wrong with it... Some staff even telling him he was far from the first patient they had with such a relationship with their Pokemon! Unable to see a point in arguing against them any further, the three let out defeated sighs before Chris looked around the playroom they were in. "Th... That topic aside... Is this all there is for the kids to enjoy?" he asked, noticing the size of the room yet the limited things for them to play with and use to exercise. Blinking at him for a moment, Gerald looked around as well, a bit surprised himself now that he took the time to notice. "Y... Yes... Unfortunately we don't have much of a budget for playthings and such for the children. What we have is donated, and sadly most donations are in fairly... Used shape." one of the nurses admitted. "The city puts medical necessities over entertainment you see... We have plenty of funding to care for people medically, but recreation wise... We're admittedly lacking..." she told him as the kids looked around the room as well, letting out sighs. "Yeah... That's why having your Pokemon with us is so awesome! We have plenty of fun when they come! Gardevoir even makes us FLY!!" one of the boys said excitedly with a grin, holding his arms out like a plane. "Yeah! Plus they're soooo pretty too! Servine is really nice and lets us pet her as much as we want! We hope we can be and look as nice as them when we grow up!" one of the girls giggled, causing Gardevoir to show a tear as she smiled and nodded, Servine putting her nose up proudly with a nod of her own and grinning.

"Its gonna really stink when you guys leave though... We'll be bored again... The staff are really nice and all but we still wish we had more stuff to do here... A lot of us kinda live here because of our problems and don't have much to distract ourselves with... We don't wanna complain cause they take good care of us but... " one of the boys said, sulking as the others did the same. "Yeah... When you leave you get to have fun all over the world and have lots more adventures! But... A lot of us... Dunno if we'll get the chance to do so much stuff..." one of the little girls said, rubbing her arm and looking down with a sigh and a tear in her eye. Finding himself overwhelmed, Gerald suddenly burst into tears, wrapping the girl in his arms, startling the nurses and causing the girl to jolt and blink wide eyed in shock as Gerald rubbed his cheek against hers. "G... Gah... G... Gee mister... I'm sorry. Didn't mean to make you do that..." she responded, patting him on the head, still blinking in surprise as the others watched, looking just as surprised from his sudden outburst and walking up, several rubbing and patting him on the back, trying to coax him to stop crying. Looking at them all and seeing the concern hidden in Gardevoir and Servines faces as they smiled and let the children play with them, he rubbed his chin for a moment, raising an eyebrow as he thought before suddenly snapping his fingers, startling the children that were close to him. "Alright then! Tell you all what... I'll have our friend Mr. Gerald go out and get all of you tons of things to play and exercise with! Sound like a plan?" he grinned, everyone blinking at him in surprise for a moment before the kids suddenly smiled from ear to ear, running up to him from all sides in excitement.

"W... Woah there!! Easy easy!!" he laughed as the kids asked if he was for real, their faces brightening up more and more as he promised them he was being serious. Quickly standing and rubbing his eyes, Gerald gave Chris a firm solute. "It would be an honor!!" he said proudly, the staff still looking at Chris in shock. "S... Sir... That could be very expensive... Pl... Please don't build them up like this..." one of the nurses whispered in his ear. "Oh...? But I'm being serious... Money isn't a problem." he told her, blinking and tilting his head as if surprised the staff didn't believe him. Looking at Chris just as confused and surprised, the staff didn't know what to make of his sudden offer for the kids. Running back up to his Pokemon, the kids jumped around excitedly, pulling on Gardevoirs arms and twirling Servine around, shouting about getting new toys and such as the two sweat nervously, trying to handle all of their energy at once until the staff quickly intervened, calming them down as best they could allowing the two Pokemon to breath, Gardevoir rubbing her arms with a nervous laugh as Servine sat next to her feet, shaking off the dizziness with a groan. "H... Ha ha... Hospitalized yet look at em go... Amazing." Chris smiled, Gerald standing next to him letting out random hics as he tried to keep a dignified composure, wiping his eyes several times as he nodded. "I... Indeed... How astounding it is... What one can do for others with a g... Good heart..." he responded, causing Chris to wave his hand and laugh nervously. "Bah... Its not that big a deal. I'm just glad I have the money to do it! And its not really money I earned anyways... Every penny I have my grandfather left me... I just think its better to use it for stuff like this than use it on myself. What he earned in his life can be used to make others happy in mine... Why waste it for personal stuff when doing something like this is worth more than the money itself...?" he smiled warmly, looking at the children as they gave the staff a run for their money as Gerald looked down at him, as always finding himself standing in awe from Chris's presence while Gardevoir and Servine took the chance to back away from the kids and stand with them, feeling they were a bit too wild for them to handle for the time being.

"Ha ha... You pair of chickens..." Chris chuckled, the two Pokemon scowling at him and motioning for him to get in the center of the commotion if he was so brave. Sweating nervously, he quickly responded with "pass" before turning towards the exit, making his way out and returning to his room. Once inside, Gardevoir and Servine plopped onto the couch, letting out a sigh as he searched for his bank card, handing it over to Gerald with a nod. "Alright... Go get those kids plenty of toys... And umm... Video games are a big thing... So try to find whats the most popular... What exercise equipment they had looked pretty terrible... So get a couple of treadmills... Weights and stuff..." he told Gerald, thinking silently for a moment. "Lets see... Those walls looked kinda boring... Some nice art and posters would be good... Plus the playroom is so big its more like a play stadium..." he muttered as Gerald sweat slightly. "A lot of kids probably can't go outside... Get some stuff for outdoors that would work indoors too." he said, getting a nod in response. "Y... Yes sir... Pardon for sounding like the staff but... Are you quite certain you'll have the funds for everything?" he asked, with Chris waving his hand in response. "Not a problem. I don't know who does it, how or why... But whenever I call the bank, whatever I use is always being replaced, and then some... Whenever I try to find out where the money is coming from, the bank never tells me. Its a ton of confidential stuff but its apparently from big businesses and such depositing what they say is his share of the money, a ton of stuff he set up throughout his life to ensure it always has a steady flow coming in to support whatever the account is used for and replenish itself. I had no idea he was so savvy really..." Chris answered, suddenly going into thought and raising an eyebrow.

"V... Very well. No expense then and all that...? You're for certain?" he asked once more, Chris waving his hand and grinning in response. "You go crazy on those kids. We're giving them a reason to forget the bad stuff and enjoy their youth the way they deserve." he said with a thumbs up, causing Gerald to jolt wide eyed and bow in respect. "Leave it to me then sir! I shall return with a world of splendor in hand!" he assured, quickly leaving as Chris chuckled and rolled his way towards the couch where the two sat. Explaining how he left the room, he showed off how well he could use his arms and hands again, having gone through various exercises during the random times they weren't in his room since the casts on his arms were removed, admitting he would need to work them out plenty more nonetheless. Letting both of them know how proud he was of what he had seen them doing for the kids, he rubbed them both on the head, the two Pokemon enjoying his touch again in such a way after so long. After this, seemingly half the hospital began eagerly waiting in anticipation as word spread of what Chris had promised the children, until Gerald finally returned several days later, having swam through countless channels to bring in several trucks of brand new things for the hospitals children to enjoy. Apologizing for how long he was gone, he returned Chris's card and went through everything he had purchased, showing receipt after receipt, each seemingly a mile long... Excited to see how the children would react, Chris went back to the children's wing himself alongside the others and watched the deliverers do their job, removing the badly used contents filling the enormous and seemingly barren playroom with exercise equipment, walls of flat screens connected to games and blue-ray players, and countless tub sized containers were brought in, lined around the room with toys brought in, each container filled until they were all overflowing.

"H... Holy cow... I know the money was there but... It actually covered all this...?" Chris asked, blinking wide eyed as the staff, parents, and random patients from other wings watched with their jaws dropped, looking at Chris with a constant "...Who ARE you?!!" expression on their faces. Smiling and sweating nervously, he simply said "Y... You're welcome...?" in response, waving at them as the delivery teams suddenly brought in more boxes. Arranging everything neatly, they built several slides and swing sets within the room, with several sand tables built as well. "As you requested, the fun of being outside has been brought in as well!" Gerald grinned, giving Chris a thumbs up. "Let no child miss out and all that!" he laughed as Chris nodded with a smirk. Next thing they knew, several huge glass tanks were brought in, along with countless smaller ones, and were filled with countless types of Pokemon, including Goldeen and Staryu, Clamperl and Luvdisc, Alomomola and Tympole and more until each tank was full of the most amazing water Pokemon you could find. "Yeah... You did what I asked alright... And then some... Well done." he chuckled, shaking Geralds hand. "Nonsense sir! I merely put in the proper calls." he grinned with a blush, rubbing the back of his head. "The children do love your Pokemon so, and that being the case, it only made sense to provide them with as many new friends as possible to reside here in their stead!" he smiled. Once they thought everything was finished and the delivery crew set up what posters and paintings had been provided as well, the crowd began to walk into the room, only for Gerald to stop them as the crew brought in one final set of huge boxes.

Opening them up and unloading them one by one, it turned out to be a massive round tank that had been brought in piece by piece, and once it was complete and filled with sand and water, the delivery crew left with a bow towards everyone who had watched, leaving them a bit confused as to why such a large tank was left empty in the middle of the room. "Is it some kind of swimming pool for the children?" one of the parents asked as Gerald walked up to it, the tank only reaching up to his torso yet massively wide. "Not quite... Ladies and gentlemen, what you see here today was provided by young master Chris there, paid for by the money left to him by his grandfather! In honor of his generosity, I have a very special donation of my own to contribute alongside him!" he told the crowd with a smile as Chris waved him off, sweating nervously with a "please don't make it a big deal.." expression. Reaching in his vest and taking out a PokeBall, he looked at it silently for a moment with a warm smile, suddenly tossing it up and freeing the Pokemon within. "Welcome to your new home... My darling Milotic!" he grinned, turning and facing the crowd as the Milotic splashed into the water behind him before rising up and looking around, its body shimmering as if surrounded by stars, lowering its head and rubbing its cheek against Geralds as the crowd and Chris himself went wide eyed, their eyes shimmering in awe as Gerald pet Milotic.

"No need to fear everyone, she's beastly in size, but delicate at heart. This old girl will treat your children as if they were her very own, I assure you." he chuckled as Milotic smiled at the crowd and bowed her head, everybody bowing in response with an immediate "Nice to meet you!" in unison. "I've already explained everything to her. Rest assured the old girl decided to do this of her own free will. All we ask is you treat her as nicely and politely as possible as long as she is here, and I'll be dropping in from time to time to make sure!" he told the crowd with a grin, everybody quickly nodding in agreement before swarming into the room, exploring all the new things and Pokemon it had to offer the kids. Once they were done and the staff approved everything, Chris had Gerald bring Gardevoir and Servine to the room as the staff brought the children together at the entrance. Rolling up in front of them, Chris smiled warmly as his two Pokemon and Gerald stood around him. "I'm a man of my word... Behind these doors awaits your new world full of fun! Mr. Gerald here put everything together, I just provided the funds, so be sure to give him a huge and special thanks as you go in!" he grinned as Gerald stood surprised, blinking at him and muttering "B... But you deserve thanks as well..!!" in his ear, only for Chris to smile quietly and shake his head. "I just gave you the money and sat around watching the sun go up and down... This is all you." he responded. Telling the children to go on in, he wheeled himself out of the way as the children crowded around Gerald, shaking his hands, hugging him all over, even giving him a random kiss that left him blushing with an "awww...." every time, a grin from ear to ear as parents and staff thanked him as well, causing Gerald to glow full of pride.

Watching him with a smile and the children act as though they were in a new kind of wonderland, he chuckled with a nod and wheeled himself back to his room as Gardevoir and Servine joined the children, pulled in as the children gave the two a tour of their new playroom. Once he reached his door, Chris rummaged through his rucksack, putting his bank card away and taking out his Grandfathers PokeBall urn, wheeling his way next to his window before holding it up in the sunlight. "Well old man... Waddaya think...? Did pretty good, huh?" he smiled before setting it in the window seal to have a conversation with the ashes within.

After this, several more weeks seemingly passed by in a flash, and next thing Chris new, his legs were free from their casts at last as well, finally allowing him to move his legs freely for the first time in two months! Unfortunately, a large portion of his muscle had degenerated, causing his movement to be limited at best, outright nearly impossible at most... But thanks to him now being cast free and off all his machines, the time for his discharge had come at last! Throughout his last few weeks at the hospital, the staff, patients, and parents had developed a profound respect and appreciation for Chris just as much as they had for his Pokemon and Gerald, spurred on all the more by Geralds constant reminder of how much Chris spent for the children's sake, something he begrudgingly allowed after Gerald constantly refused to let him go without his own share of thanks... On the day of his discharge, Chris decided it wasn't fair to leave without telling everyone the truth about his Pokemon, and he couldn't have decided to do so at a better time either... As he and his Pokemon along with Gerald gathered in the children's playroom, with the staff, patients and parents having set up a farewell party for them, the MPD arrived at the hospital in swarms. Because of the now beyond extreme protests from the city to cease their invasive searches for Gardevoir and Servine, it was their final day to find them before the case was closed out of mounting pressure and the fierce opposition, and it just so happened they had one last lead to follow...

Having several groups of police swarm all of the exits, the chief walked in with countless officers, ordering them to swarm the building and search every inch as he pulled up videos of when Gardevoir and Servine caused chaos in the city, pointing out the discovery of the two wearing tags from the hospital to the receptionists. Ordering them to reveal everything they knew about the two, the receptionists merely shook their heads and shrugged in response, letting the officers know they had two such Pokemon in the building, but there was no way it could have been the two seen in the footage. "The two Pokemon we have here fitting those descriptions are absolute sweethearts! They've spent nearly every day here keeping the children as happy as can be... There's no way they could have done all that." the receptionists responded, waving their hands at the chief and facing away as if he were wasting his time. Making their way throughout the hospital, the MPD finally swarmed into the children's wing, stopping at the double doors leading to the playroom and looking in through the windows just as Chris and Gerald finished explaining everything about his Pokemon. Finding Gardevoir and Servine inside amongst everyone else, with Gardevoir hovering the kids through the air as she always had, the MPD took this as an attack on the children, and nodding at one another, they suddenly burst into the room, surrounding the crowd causing Chris and Gerald to turn pale and sweat profoundly, the both of them showing an immediate "...shit..." expression as the crowd and children gasped.

Now noticing the MPD herself, Servine quickly hid behind Gardevoir, shivering with a bit of sweat on her face as Gardevoir faced different directions confused. "Step away from the children and stand down!!" one of the officers shout, causing Gardevoir to jolt and tilt her head. "You there!! The Gardevoir!! You speak through telepathy right? Answer us!! Who is your trainer!?" another asked, causing her to blink confused. Thinking it was the hospital staff upset with her over something, she used her abilities to sense where Chris was and began raising her arm to point him out, only for Servine to tug her skirt and make a "dooonnn't..." sound as one of the staff members cleared his throat next to her, muttering not to reveal Chris close to her ear. Freezing, she put down her arm and continued standing confused. "We're searching for a Gardevoir and a Servine, wearing tags from this hospital! We have reports the Gardevoir in question was capable of conversation via telepathy! Answer us, who is your trainer?! Why are you here?! Why are you attacking humans?!" they asked, causing Gardevoir to jolt and open her mouth. Just as she was about to use her telepathy, Gerald suddenly made his way next to her, putting a hand on her shoulder and letting out a "Don't speak" type of grunt before stepping in front of her. "I am their trainer! And rest assured these Pokemon did nothing, and have done nothing wrong! We are merely enjoying a celebration, which you are rudely interrupting!" he responded. "You are the trainer...? Then you and these two are coming with us for interrogation!" an officer responded, holding up a gun and walking towards him until one of the nurses walked up.

"No... They are MY Pokemon! This is a blind Gardevoir, incapable of sending a ride flying through the city! It would have crashed the instant it left the tracks! Look for yourselves!" she told the MPD, showing off her glazed eyes and waving her hand in front of them, only for Gardevoirs eyes to maintain a steady blank stare. "So... YOU are the trainer...? The blind are as capable as those who can see! The two Pokemon we've searched for, both wearing tags from this hospital, are right here! They, and their trainer, are coming with us! If that's you, come along!!" another officer ordered. Next thing they knew, one after another parents, staff, even the patients and children alike were stepping around the two Pokemon to defend them, each claiming them as their own and joining hands around the two one by one. "These cops... They're really desperate..." Chris muttered, watching them pointing their weapons at the two Pokemon, even with patients and children surrounding them. "The tags discovered on the Pokemon involved means their trainer is enlisted into this hospital as well! We know it is a patient, so those of you who are not, move aside!!" one of the police ordered, only for the group to remain still as they continued gathering around the two one by one.

Meanwhile, near the reception counter, one of the guards hired by the hospital saw the MPD in the playroom surrounding and aiming their weapons at everyone inside. Shocked by this, he pointed out the recording to the receptionists next to him as the chief turned his back, the receptionists going wide eyed and dropping their mouths in shock as they saw the hospitals patients and especially the children being aimed at by the force. Spotting both Gardevoir and Servine in the center of the group, they realized what was going on, and nodding silently at one another, the guard immediately set up a line of communication on his computer between the hospital and the local news center. Eating up what they were being told and shown, they began instantly broadcasting the feed being sent to them right away, with titles such as "MPD terrorizing Memorial Hospital" and "MPD desperately targeting children" trailing across screens throughout the city, along with many other titles as feed continued its constant stream. As the guard and receptionists grinned in satisfaction, the chief suddenly turned around, causing the three to jolt and act like nothing was going on, causing him to raise an eyebrow as the force in the playroom contacted him, telling the chief they found the two Pokemon. Grinning, he looked at the three with a raised eyebrow, merely saying "gotcha" with a chuckle.

However... His excitement didn't last long... Just as he began walking past the desk towards one of the elevators, the sound of countless cars speeding onto the scene could be heard from outside. Pausing, he went towards the entrance and looked outside, seeing reporter after reporter arriving in vans and cars, causing him to laugh. "Well lookie here! Dinner and a show!! This city's gonna be in for a real treat... I smell promotions all around!!" he said with a grin. As he went out the entrance to greet everyone, he noticed citizens from all over the city arriving as well, walking together towards the hospital, clearly equally enraged. As the chief went into a speech about finding the criminals and never giving up, another vehicle suddenly arrived on scene, only this time it was the head of Millennium City himself! Initially thrilled by this, the chief bowed and offered a hand shake, until he saw the expression on the mans face and quickly straightened up with a solute. "We've surrounded the criminals! We'll be taking them in immediately!!" he said as the man in front of him grit his teeth. Reaching out to the chief, he suddenly ripped his badge right off his jacked, shoving a finger in the chiefs face and loudly shouting "YOU'RE FIRED!!!" before shoving him aside and standing in front of the reporters and crowds.

Putting his hands up and making a short speech, the head of Millennium City assured the citizens and reporters everything was going to be fine, letting them know he himself was calling off the search for the criminal Pokemon and was dropping all charges against them, telling everyone it was officially over and giving his own apology at last. A roller coaster flying through his city that had since boost tourism and their recognition wasn't worth what his forces were doing to the hospital nor the people of the city in general, only ruining everything the roller coaster incident had done for the city in positive ways. Overhearing this, the officers around the building quickly got in contact with those inside, ordering their forces to cease and desist immediately due to the dropped charges. With the orders now given, the police in the playroom lowered their weapons, letting the group know what they had just been told causing everyone to sigh in relief... That is until the children started throwing stuff at the police, demanding they leave as the staff and their parents tried making them stop. Groaning, the officers left, shaking their heads as one of them lift his mask, sneering at the kids only to get smacked right in the face with a block, the child who threw it shouting "bulls eye!!" before blowing a raspberry, the staff quickly grabbing him and pulling him away as the officers nose turned red as he left, quickly covering it and growling in frustration with a "little brat" remark, the children crossing their arms together with their tongues out.

Once they were sure the MPD was gone, the crowd began cheering and congratulating one another, shaking each others hands and hugging the two Pokemon, with Gardevoir remaining confused as to what actually just happened, Servine wiping the sweat off her face before slithering her way through the crowd and onto Chris's lap, flopping onto her back with an "oh brother..." noise. For the next few hours, everyone in the playroom enjoyed the farewell celebration, with random people from the city and countless reporters joining in on the festivities as well! For some time, everyone enjoyed themselves to the fullest, with Chris and his Pokemon eventually speaking with and being given a second pardon by the head of the city himself, this time in person after he heard their story in detail, including what they had done for the hospital. In fact... He even proclaimed Chris and his Pokemon as blessings for the city, the statement being caught on camera for everyone in the region to see! Knowing they were on camera, Servine stood up straight on Chris's shoulder with her nose up, giving the head of the city a thumbs up in response and shaking his hand, grinning as Chris blinked at the camera nervously, stammering shyly until Servine gave him a smack on the back of the head with her tail, making Chris quickly shout "Yes! Thank you!!" in response, quickly shaking the mans hand as well before quickly wheeling himself away with a blush on his face. Raising an eyebrow at him, Servine rolled her eyes and shook her head, making chicken sounds causing Chris to scowl at her with a quiet "shaddup..." in response.

Once things died down enough, Chris finally decided it was time for them to say their final farewells to the hospital. Shaking everyone's hands and giving them his thanks for their help, Chris watched the kids gather around Gardevoir and Servine, crying their eyes out as the two gave them all hugs, bringing Gerald to tears once more as they swarmed him too and thanked him for everything he put together, the old butler responding with "b best... j job... e ever..." as he sobbed uncontrollably. Seeing this, Gerald's Milotic gave him an "Old softie" expression as she seemingly giggled and leaned over the tank, rubbing her cheek against his as Gerald laughed and continued crying with the children. Bringing tears to the eyes of those watching as well, many of the staff and other adults thanked Chris once again for everything. With a smile and a nod, he called out to the three, ready to finally feel the freedom waiting just beyond the hospitals exit at last. Making their way through the building together, everybody followed them as Chris returned to his room one final time to gather his belongings, looking the place over with a smile. "It was rough... But there were some pretty good times..." he chuckled, glancing at his bed before wheeling his way back to the door. Heading towards the entrance of the building, Chris stopped at the reception desk and signed the final papers for his release, the four stopping at the doors and turning as everybody stood behind them. Thanking them all once again, they gave the crowd a farewell wave, everybody saying "thank you!!" and "goodbye!!" repeatedly in unison as they waved back.

However... As the four left the building, the children in the group suddenly went silent, blinking in surprise and rubbing their eyes as they saw... Something... Appear at the entrance... Glowing faintly before taking on the shape of Ninetails aura! Opening its eyes and looking at the children, Ninetails sat down and slowly lowered its head, bowing to the children as they blinked in amazement with an "ooohhhh" and suddenly bowed in response. Confusing the adults who could see nothing, the children raised up as Ninetails looked at them once again, giving them a smile before fading away. But its what the children saw once the aura was gone that truly amazed them even more!

As Chris wheeled his way along in the wheelchair, the children could see an aura, like that of a pair of fox-like ears, on top of his head along with nine different tails glowing faintly... All attached to him!! Opening their mouths in awe, they suddenly grinned from ear to ear as their eyes lit up as though they had just seen something made of pure magic, and they began applauding and shouting "Thank you!!" and "Goodbye!!" once again. Driving the limo up, Gerald helped the three get in, about to return the wheelchair only for the staff to tell them to keep it. Thanking them, he put it away in the limo as well and climbed in, driving off into the city with Chris on board, finally a free man... Asking if he had anywhere in mind he wanted to go, Chris looked out the window towards the harbors, and with a smile, he said...

"I just feel like some fresh air... Mind taking me to the beach for a bit...?"

Yes indeed... The man who will one day become a legend has truly left his mark once again... Another unforgettable chapter written by his kind heart and the being which guides him towards those in need most...

Pokemon - Tale Of The Guardian Master - CH 49
Pokemon - Tale Of The Guardian Master - CH 51
Previous Chapter - https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=864773

Next Chapter - https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=866956

A young man named Chris, now 23, who discovered he carries a curse placed on him by a Ninetails his grandfather saved long ago by grabbing its tail as it fell from a cliff, is to forever put others first before doing what he wishes in life, and has now finally set off on his own Pokemon journey, a little later in life than most, after dedicating his youth to care for his grandfather and the other elders in his village, part of the fate the Ninetails told his grandfather would befall Chris after his birth when the curse was placed.

Now that his grandfather has passed away and the elders have sent him on his way to live life as he should, his curse now strings him along as he walks the path of a Pokemon trainer, doing what he always dreamed while also, unknowingly, conveniently fulfilling his part of the Ninetails curse...

Err... I'd love to respond to this but I'm afraid your wording has me a tad confused...

Are you looking for the other chapters in the story? They are all arranged in their own section/pool. If there are some you cannot see or think are missing, just remove any blocks set on your account to see them.

No like down in the description where u says he's 23 put like what each chapter will be about considering I think after 50 chapters what the whole series is about is pretty ingrained in our memories
ModestImmorality

Ahhh... I see...

Well, generally I stick with using journal updates for that, giving tips on what the next chapter will be about. I'd rather not spoil what the chapters plots are generally about by providing descriptions for them, even if vague ones. I'd rather readers take the time to find everything out for themselves in each chapter, over looking at a description and writing this or that chapter off as either interesting/worthwhile or not based on that alone as many tend to do.

When the presence of the Guardian master is felt it brings out many emotions. Just let Gerald do the weeping for you.

A tear-jerking and thrilling Chapter! And again a perfect LWR. LWR should be an obligation, not an option, if you offer it!

Sooo….
He even proclaimed Chris and his Pokemon as blessings for the city, the statement being caught on camera for everyone in the region to see!
After the MPD scandal, these news probably getting more attention than normal acknowledgments in the media. As always I’m looking forward to the next Chapter and what you will do with the growing popularity of Chris in the region.

Ha ha, its amusing because really he wants no part of the recognition. Merely doing what feels good in the moment. Chris loves his peace more than anything and just wants to travel without any labels given, willing to help out and do stuff for people but really not wanting much in return, just glad to be traveling. Granted he'll become renowned more and more, but it will never be something he feels necessary or will really want.

Just how he is.

Hmm, do both Pokemon still wear bracelets that safes them from being caught in a Pokeball, or is it again something, that you will mention in the next Chapter? It looks like a very useful gadget.

Another great chapter! Hah, and with you saying you cried i was expecting a sad chaoter. That was fantastic. First Geral being generally great again. Crazy kind old guy. Chris is apparently ridiculously wealthy with almost unlimited money.
And rhen the police finally catch Gardevoir and Servine only for the whole hospital to pull a Spartacus! That was hilarious! And then the Mayor shows up to fire the chief and pardon the two. Like damn. Chris is both ridiculously lucky and surpisingly unlucky. He is a glorious oaradox and I thank you for this fantastic story.

Heheh, that's a good way of putting it. And damn, somehow I got so many typos in my comment...
