The town being down in a basin kind of reminds me of Missoula, Montana.

I take it you've been to Missoula.
In the pic, I can almost imagine I-90 in the left of the background, coming out from between the last and next to last mountain, if you are not far from Blue Mountain looking northwest.
The car would be blocking the view of Reserve Street (a north / south main through fare).
