A recent convert being branded into the fold by two of the lapdragons he'll be joining, while their keeper watches from the wings.  They enjoy the opportunity to help out at least as much as the opportunity to evangelize; this crowd is confident that they've found the best way of being available to them and aren't afraid to proclaim their obvious superiority.  Usually it's a source of amusement, but sometimes they change minds.  This one let himself be persuaded by the casual camaraderie, the complete lack of sexual tension, and the prospect of having his tail lifted at any time without warning for a quickie.  (Which, perhaps, has something to do with the lack of sexual tension; that and the lack of sexual organs.)

This pack's bedside manner is … generously described as quirky, however they're actually quite good at their craft - the one holding the new one still just delivered the punchline of a particularly dirty joke, timed to provide a distraction at just the moment his companion leans on the branding iron and the new recruit might flinch.  Instead, the imprint comes out beautifully clear, the sign of his commitment cleanly applied with professional results.

Once he's marked, they'll reflash his (new, with the band-aid to prove it) microchip implant to match, and shoot him up with lapdragon drug, but they'll let the professionals take over once knives are involved.  Fortunately, professionals make house calls if you offer enough cash.  Their vet will, in about ten minutes, offer to show them how to geld a dragon and they'll get their first taste of that part of the process from the other end of the scalpel, while a drug-addled newbie questions the vet's wisdom regarding letting the other two learn to cut for the first time on a real live dragon.  The vet will acknowledge the concern, then point out that on the other hand, that's the only real way to learn the craft.

And in six months, he'll be looking forward to a chance to welcome another newbie to the pack with an opportunity to learn these skills for himself.
