When one of our longtime fans and followers came to us asking if we could help him get snipped, we were more than willing to lend a hand. The problem, it seemed, was a certain anxiety about the process itself. A little bit of talking, a pocketwatch to distract the forebrain, and he has a direct line to the unconscious mind. Once there, all it took was a gentle distraction and a refocusing of the patient's emotional associations on what he had come here for, instead of that which made the fur fluff and the skin crawl. And just like that, he eagerly awaits that noise that means the deed has been done, the sound of a stainless steel bowl ringing with two soft and wet sounding impacts.
All that's left now is to close the skin back up, tidy up, and apply a bandage. And, perhaps, invite him to a support group meeting for the just-cut, where he can celebrate achieving his goal with a few other like-minded folk.
