SpikeXSweetie is best pairing in my opinion, wish it was so! I do have to wonder, why don't you draw genitals or anus on every panel? There are points on this that you could draw the anus on spike or Sweetie Belle. I feel that it would give the comic a more realistic feel, or as realistic as magical talking animals can get, and feel less fake. But that is just me, I understand why you don't draw it every panel, might detract from the story.

kit and i had a long discussion about this. it detracting from the story was indeed a minor reason we decided against full realism; but the primary reasons were:
(1) we didn't feel comfortable going against the show's style of presenting story segments;
(2) to emphasize the division this society makes between public and private. sex is an entirely private activity, partially explaining why spike got embarrassed of his boner on page 1 even though the norm is nudity. if sex were an activity acceptable in the public sphere, there'd be fucking in the streets, mares wouldn't try to keep their tails down, and spike woulda probably known all about sex a long time ago and been a little horndog by now. probably woulda thrust his meat at rarity through the doorway or something, thinking that would attract her to him. their genitals don't appear during story segments because they're not even on the characters' minds. when they are in private and sex is on their minds, genitals will dutifully appear.

Her grabbing his hands with magic, and the ruby sitting in the corner, are excellent touches. I do wonder if he's going to overcome his lack of speaking to her or if this is suddenly gonna jump in another direction...

Also, bogus points go to the writers (of the show) for dropping the ball on a sweet relationship between Spike and Rarity. Doesn't even have to be 'mushy', but the idea of him spending whatever free times he's not working with Twilight or at a get together with the others he'd be hanging out with Rarity. Simple stuff really.

yeah, it's sad that they didn't follow through on the "spike crushing on rarity" premise. it's shameful for any writer not to follow through on any premise. but with this one, it felt like they dropped a major element of the show. it just kinda petered out instead. thing is, you know there's like 1 guy on the team there that remembers it and wants it to be a thing, though, cuz of inserts like spike dancing to filli vanilli and watching rarity as he does.

I'd say its because its made by Hasbro, to sell TOYS to little GIRLS who at their age think "boys are icky". Besides the fact that any tiny little hint at a relationship or romance, or heaven forbid SEX would drive the hair trigger, extremely sensitive, fire nukes at anything that could "corrupt our children" american parents to doing just that. Nuke the show with bad press and feedback until its either completely removed from the air or worse the freedom of writing is cut back until its on the level of generation 2.

How about him knowing that she had a mindless crush on Mr. "I'm in one episode never to be seen again" and rolling his eyes at her efforts to 'woo' him by being someone she's not?

I thought for sure it was going to be something like Spike going to stupid lengths to sabotage their meetup, but instead he showed a level of maturity that was absurd and just was like "Pffft, it's just a crush. It'll burn out." meaning that he knows the difference between a crush and real love.

But yeah, Hasbro has stomped on other things.

Transformers Prime showed Jack and Arcee growing really close and damn near being lovers and the higher ups LITERALLY stepped in and said "Hey, I know it's a guy and a lady who spend all their time together and really got to know eachother, but you totally can't have them fall in love."

The writers were pissed and still managed to sneak in hints now and then in a similar manner.

Really though, the fanbase of both franchises already know that Spike is gaga for Rarity and that Spike will go to great lengths to make Rarity happy, be it anything from simple tasks to harming himself.

Even that abomination of an episode Dragon's Quest showed she'd fight other dragons to protect Spike despite him 'shrugging off' her affections early on.

When I read through this page all I could think of was ... sigh ...women. That's so typical of them in my opinion ... most of them at least. There are exceptions, but more often then not they are like this. @_@

I never liked the Rarity and Spike relationship the story im writing my human will tell Rarity and Spike to go on several dates with each paid by the human of course a get to know each other. The reason why the human feels that Rarity wants the human and he feels that Spike deserve a chance to get to know Rarity in these dates and they both realized that they were not meant to be together thus say human suggesting another pony of Coco Pommel and they both hit it off and really like each other. But they are those out there still thinks that the Rarity and Spike relationship is possible, I rather have them go out on dates get to know each other more better to have that depth with both characters. If this where its leading to in the comic you are writing and etc as we speak, we shall see in future chapters in this comic.
