This one needs a little explanation. A lot of people were uncomfortable with this one when I first posted it on another site, and I wanted to clarify. This pic isn't sexual in the slightest. It's not some kinda handicap fetish. I've just always been drawn to underdog characters; ones who might be overlooked for being different. I like looking for beauty past physical forms. This idea was sposto be like a children's hospital where the nice wolf guy comes around and gives all the kids lots of hugs to let them know they're still beautiful and special. Cubs with missing bits still need love!

A touchy subject no doubt, but one that should not be cast away into the darkness and forgotten.

It takes real character to reach out to others who have endured a traumatic event and show them unconditional support and love.

A moving picture indeed but not one to shun.

Amputees can be cute and capable. Just ask pilot Jessica Cox or athlete/model Aimee Mullins.

(Watching the interview with Ms. Mullins brings a song to mind! ;-) )

And yeah, I'm fascinated by people like them. Not at all in a pity way; more like just trying to imagine what it's like to have to come up with your own ways of doing everyday things. Having to think around everything like that. And of course, the technology that goes into prosthetics. I almost wonder if in the future, people will trade in their limbs for custom ones...

YMMV. Some will, particularly if a limb is lost or ceases to work properly. Just ask this guy. He now has a custom prosthetic for his favorite hobby (he's #6).

And yeah, that guy is some serious coolness. although I wanna see an arm amputee who gets himself a flamethrower prosthesis.

The main things stopping anyone from getting a flamethrower hand are legality and a rather limited usefulness. I've wondered about prostheses with guns plenty of times - again the legality and utility questions come up, not to mention the technical challenges. Taser-hands could be fun, though.

Had a whole monologue i was gonna go on about the spiritual strength of those who have been dealt such a paw, but eh...forget it...its a cute pic, I especial like the blind girl...Ive always liked that color eyes.

I think I've been saturated by too many Saturday morning cartoons and comic books when my mind, unbidden, adds "And then a radioactive meteorite crashed into the hospital, and they all got super powers"

I hope i'm not the only one who sees a group of handicapped cubs and think "they need to be a superhero team" >.<

This doesn't seem sexual to me at all. oo; I don't see how anyone could think that, unless they had dirty minds, just wanted to have something to cry about, or had thoughts too predisposed to sex at the moment. To me it looks more like a poster one would see at an orphanage encouraging people (preferably ones who are able to handle the extra responsibility) to adopt handicapped cubs. Heck, even if I TRIED to find something sexual about this, I would have to pretty much grasp at straws. I think you did a cute job of drawing cute, sweet, and innocent. ^^

Makes me think of my Muriel.  She's cute even without arms.  She's also fun to write for.  A bit like the middle cub, but without stumps as she never had arms to lose.

It's a fun and sweet picture.  They really are just as cute as the "normal" ones, or more so as they're more likely to pay attention to things.  They can still become assholes though if treated/raised badly, which proves they're just as normal as the normal ones :}

good work on the scars and physical handicaps.  They all look lovable and reasonably happy.  The clothes all looks fine and fitting.  Nice choice to have a blind girl with them.

The li'l chipmunk isn't an amputee. I was thinking she was born with nubs.

I think its great! Love the idea, but just because one is handicapped, does not mean one is disabled.

I'm glad you like the pic, but... If someone is handicapped, yes, it does mean they are disabled. The two words have the same meaning.

I've struggled with mental illness all my life, which is less visual of a handicap, but it's still a handicap. I haven't gotten better by convincing myself there's nothing wrong with me. What has helped me is acknowledging the fact that I will never be cured. Not completely. I'll always struggle with it, just like an alcoholic struggles with their addiction or an amputee struggles with their decreased physical ability. The strength comes from acknowledging that the struggle will always be there, but that I can still make things better for myself. There's some things I will never be good at, but I can work around my weaknesses and be happy.

Look at my OC carefully... Its blind, and it leads its life with such 'handicap'. It is modeled after me.
But so is its partner, 'a little girl who helps her big brother in what life throws at him', she is his sister, as I have mine.

Being 'blind' is not a disability to me. I am not limited by the inability to see because I can 'see' but in my own way. I drive, fly a glider, talk sign language to the deaf friends I have and live life as normally as I could. My Mac Laptop has a screen magnifier to help me see. This I may have a handicap, but I am not disabled by it. But people see me, my dark glasses and my cane and they yell at me. WHY?!! I'M NOT DEAF YOU IDIOT!!! (not you personally)

To me you seem fine. You create great art. You write great stories for that art. Like you said, you work around your "weakness and be happy." That says that you are not disable despite the handicap. Thats says more about you than you would not realize. Keep up the great art... For art is to be enjoyed. But first to be enjoyed, it must be shared.

Okay, I was misinterpreting you. (Also, your avatar didn't load so I didn't see it when I replied) We just had different interpretations of the word 'disability'. You thought I meant, like, 'permanently disabled', and we both mean, 'something that you can overcome'.
