yaaay! my first pic done as a commemoration of me joining Team Acorn.   Anyway, someone suggested this is how Sally would look in "Sonic and the Black Knight".  I streamed the creation of it, It took me about 3 hours to get the lineart done, someone offered to color it, so I'll leave it in inks for now.  Extra cookie points to those who get the references.

This armour looks pretty, but to many parts on it... Easy for a dagger to slip through a gap.

Feeling a tad bit evil here... Hehehe we all know under all that armour, she still our favorite princess in a such a way https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=502555

Armour like that is more meant to defend against arrows and other projectiles due to the many curves, ie; Royal guards in the back of the throne room or on watchtowers.
It's not close-combat armour, but that's what the under chain armour is for, slashes.

I know a lot about armour and everything medieval.

yeah she has a layering of chainmail underneath, notice her neck and part of the belly typically the chainmail is used to deflect slashes and some piercing attacks, the Larger plates are for more powerful blows made by larger blades and hammer weapons.  I'm an aficionado for armors also, I'm a Total War (hur SEGA) fanwhore among other things, I know my armors and armor composition.

Have you ever worn one when LARPing?

gaps are protected by chainmail, her only weakness is not wearing a proper helmet

Not the helmet... The weakness is the layer of chain mail used. Long sleeve chain mail is a pain and they pinch around the elbow area and the armpits. If you don't shave your armpit hair, you will be in a world of hurt. We use long sleeve satin turtle neck shirts as a cheaper alternative before putting on chain mail. Wool or Cotten long sleeves would be good, but when it rains, bloody hell it is heavy... Satin dries fast and the chain links slide like water on it. Also, plain metal chain mail is heavy. We Compensate it with aluminum or stainless steel links for modern reenactment chain mail in LARPs

Another alternative is to use fake leather cutout strips in the between gaps of the armour. However, not good to use when it rains... Ugh...and they smell...

Most high-class/royal/whatever you want to call it Chainmail shirts have leather elbows and sometimes armpits for extra comfort due to them standing inside for long periods.
I've never LARPed but I've done years of research on medieval everything so I do know Wool shirts/talbards are better for comfort but the gaps in the armour are protected from slashes with chainmail.
The biggest problem (minus no helmet) is not leather armour what-so-ever making her weak to blunt attacks.
Leather protects from blunt attack better than plate armour.

If worse comes to it and she is attacked, it's best to arrow her head or mace the hell out of her. Bladed weapons not aimed at her head will do very little.
But, this is a drawing, it could be enchanted for all we know. :P

Oh wow the body armor looks awesome.  Great work in the design and with the details in the armor.  I like how you even kept the Acorn as part of the armor's heraldry
