in the comic canon the felidae of the Mysterious Cat Country also known as the Pais Mysterioso are an Aztec/Mayan cat civilization.
In the InSa continuity, Blaze has conquered the Sol Zone and at one point invaded mobius, due to Queen Sally's diplomatic savy (which was going to be explained in that old Diplomacy comic) Blaze ended up ruling over the Mysterious Cat Country and continent of Soumerca as it's Cihuātlàtoāni.

I remember reading somewhere that the one group down south in ancient times had a huge ritual that involved all people in the city to take part in an orgy, I don't remember if it was after a conquest of another group or some kind of worship ceremony to a sun god in the summer.
