haumo (JP: ハウモ Haumo) is an enemy encountered in onait woods from toy kingdom in chapter 1 of needle travels. he is a dreamer resemblin’ a yellow-orange squirrel. he features an oval-shaped head with whiskers on his cheeks, round ears, a horn atop his head, a black stripe across the bridge of his snout, distinct nostrils, and eyes with dark sclerae and white pupils. he has a bipedal body, appearin’ as though he is wearin’ a garment on his lower half, a crystal sphere at the base of his long, somewhat flattened tail, red arms ending in two white claws, ‘n blue shoes. haumo is a vain, narcissistic, ‘n highly egocentric dreamer, he frequently boasts ‘bout various achievements, many of which are fabricated, ‘n claims to be superior to all other dreamers. in reality, however, he is the complete opposite of what he portrays himself to be. occasionally, he may interact with other dreamers while displayin’ a more confident demeanour ‘n significantly less egocentrism. he also shows a certain disdain fer dogs, especially fer the bowbow species. his name comes from an alteration of the word "haughty," directly referencing his narcissistic, egomaniacal behaviour ‘n his habit of boasting ‘bout false achievements. it could also derive from "hum" ‘n "humour", reflectin’ the irony of its vanity, given that it turns out to be the exact opposite of what it claims to be. in chapter one, it can be found in palm trees ‘r bushes, tossin’ seeds down at hambo ‘r kalligo, if the party shakes a tree, the creature will fall out, triggerin’ an encounter. in battle, a haumo uses the followin’ attack pattern: seed shower": haumo flings several seeds at the party, startin’ off gently ‘fore the attacks ‘come faster and more frantic. to earn its forgiveness, the geek gang must take the followin’ action: "truth": the party judges the haumo more fairly, encouraging it to drop its false claims ‘n be more honest. once pacified, it is ready to be spared ‘n recruited. a haumo appears in the toy castle as a secondary NPC, it speaks with a certain disdain toward the bowbows, callin’ them dogs, ‘n mentions that they kept followin’ it until it finally managed to lose them. ‘fter rockwell is defeated, the haumos celebrate the king's downfall in festival woods, thankin’ the party fer his defeat. in chapter two, haumos appear in funky town, specifically in the training dummy room ‘n funky town woods as secondary NPCs, where they talk more generally ‘bout their lives. in chapter three, a haumo NPC appears in the theatre rooms, it observes the cages with curiosity, wonderin’ why they are so small and strange, ‘n concludes that they were likely just the only ones available. in chapter four, a haumo appears in mashoo’s shop, looking fer ‘me items fer their home, alon’ with some decourations. in chapter six, the haumos appear in the funky town woods, hosting a festival exclusively fer themselves, they sell strange objects that are, for the most part, useless fer the adventure. in chapter seven, they appear in additional locations, such as maze woods ‘n the funky town jungle, explainin’ that they‘ve befriended other dreamers ‘n are learnin’ to get along better. in the anomalous route of chapter one, the haumos flee from the party due to the chaos ‘n destruction caused by the geek gang's actions, however, they are eventually found and killed. in the post-anomalous route of chapter two, they are laid to rest in the olde graveyard in funky town. its stats are 160 HP, 6 attack, ‘n 0 defence. defeatin’ ‘r attackin’ them yields 8 EXP and 12 dream dollars. its dojo fighterZ card reads as follows: type of being: dreamer. element: mouse. categories: slippery squirrel, rogue rodent, seed-thrower, spade-tailed. description: "a rather vain and self-centred squirrel. you can scare them off by bringin’ a dog from yar own home ‘r the neighbourhood to drive them away. even so, be careful, as they might throw seeds ‘r other random objects they’ve scavenged."
