fang (JP:フクシア Fukushia) is an NPC who appears in chapter 4 of needle travels, where she is found trapped in the snow of the leng de mountains. Rescuing her is mandatory to unlock a secret battle against goniajak. she is a fourteen-year-old eastern vampire dragon with white hair that covers her pointed ears. her fur is bluish-purple, ‘n she has orange-yellow eyes. she wears a traditional chinese-style hat with an attached scroll, a purple chinese-style outfit, a dark hat adorned with a purple pom-pom, ‘n pink buttons. she also wears dark boots, has long sleeves, and possesses small, dark-coloured wings. fang is quite agile, playful, curious, ‘mewhat clumsy, ‘n very childlike, yet always cheerful. she enjoys experimentin’ with the tone of her voice and is notably naive, at times, perhaps too innocent, as she remains unaware of potential future dangers. she is also easily manipulated and tends to form intense attachments to people she has only just met ‘r begun to befriend. furthermore, she has an affinity for contemporary trends and thin’s she finds objectively funny, such as shitposts ‘n current memes, she also enjoys video games ‘n anime in general. like other dream vampires, she uses "🖤" symbols at the beginnin’ and end of her dialogue, and when speakin’ english, she adopts a cantonese-inflected accent. occasionally, she uses chinese terms to refer to specific objects ‘r people. in the japanese translation, mixin' katakana and hiragana, she retains the "🖤" symbols, and her speech incorporates a blend of chinese and japanese. her name, fang, may derive from the chinese surname "fang", a connection suggested by her appearance, which resembles that of a chinese nun from the qing dynasty. the name can signify "fragrance" ‘r "virtue", qualities closely associated with her, ‘n much like the name "xiao", it is a unisex name. her japanese name, *fukushia* (フクシア), is the japanese term fer "fuchsia", a reference to the colour of her attire. ‘fore hambo and kalligo entered the dream world, fang was apparently a child adopted by runerus monks. she is ‘lso the creator of goniajak, it seems goniajak was originally a plushie that fang cherished deeply, viewin’ it as her best, ‘n only friend. as she grew older, goniajak came to life ‘n now appears to look after her. the where’bouts of her biological parents are unknown, she may ‘ve been adopted. ‘me runerus mention that her parents died from unknown causes, suggestin’ that these runerus, along with goniajak, may ‘ve cared fer her, potentially misleadin’ her by claimin’ her parents were simply elsewhere. it is also revealed that jian ‘n fang knew each other at some point, though the timin’ remains unspecified, jian appears to have served as a mentor to her, teachin’ her the basics of the world she inhabits. jian also mentions that fang once crossed paths with sora. furthermore, fang encountered a strange bein’, a black, cat-like silhouette with pink and yellow eyes. although she denies its existence, she continues to converse with this entity. She also reveals that a malicious serpent once dragged her into the middle of a snowy forest and buried her beneath the snow, an act possibly committed by sinsun, while goniajak searched fer her in a state of desperation. in chapter 4, ‘fter bein’ rescued and brought home, she gives the group a gift, the dream maneki-neko. this peculiar item, when equipped as a secondary accessory fer the adventure, grants an additional 30 HP during battle. it can only be used by one party member at a time, meanin’ it does not provide the 30 HP bonus to other team members. she also spends time on the maimai roads, observin’ the geek gang ‘n attemptin’ to earn their trust, driven by her desire fer social connection with them. furthermore, she assists the party by disarmin’ traps in the temple ruins. she is accompanied by goniajak, a dreamer chimera who also aids the party, whom fang herself created, by her own account, she brought him into existence with love, tenderness, ‘n a great deal of magic. ‘fter the titan guard is defeated, fang ‘n goniajak can be found in funky town in chapter 5, where she asks the geek gang fer ‘me cookies ‘n milk to feed him, fang also enters hambo’s consciousness, hopin’ to meet new people. on the way to mozzath town, she senses ‘meone who shares her own vampiric lineage ‘n immediately sets out to investigate. the party does not realize she has slipped away until they eventually encounter naamah, the princess of the holy kingdom. accordin’ to naamah, she crossed paths with fang by chance, findin’ her ‘mewhat bothersome, though she had no idea where fang had come from, consequently, naamah tells the geek gang ‘n fang to investigate the strange laboratories located in the holy kingdom. fang follows the geek gang, ‘n upon enterin’ one of the sinsun laboratories, she ‘comes excited to see robots ‘n machines inside. she steals ‘me controls, intendin’ simply to play with the machinery. ‘fter the ultimate robosinsun is defeated, fang emerges safe and sound, she mentions that she took several strange controls, which she views as toys, ‘n stashes them in a toy bag. upon returnin’ to mozzath town, fang stays with naamah, lookin’ after her and decidin’ what to do next. at one point, fang plays a videogame. after the burnin' titan is defeated, fang returns to funky town in chapter 6, bringin’ naamah along, the two having ‘come close friends while assistin’ hambo and her group in the holy kingdom during chapter 5, she also appears to be concealin’ certain conversations, tryin’ to hide ‘mething regardin’ a dark cat with pink and yellow eyes. she claims ‘mewhat disingenuously that she doesn't know this creature, ‘coming noticeably paranoid when asked ‘bout it, yet, it seems she continues to communicate with the bein’ in secret. during the credits of chapter 6, she appears alongside a crowd of dreamers, helpin’ kalligo decourate fer the holidays with pink and yellow paper, a gesture symbolizing the friendship ‘tween funky town and the spirit of christmas. in chapter 7, fang appears near the dojo fighterZ, couvered in gift ribbons, she insists that this is the latest fashion trend, which is why she decided to join in. after the spire in funky town is removed, fang expresses her gratitude fer the company durin’ her adventure ‘n wishes the geek gang all the best. in the fireshock route of chapter 4, ‘lthough fang appears and acts as an ally to the party, she senses a strange presence ‘n gradually drifts away from the party, eventually disappearin’ from both the temple ruins ‘n funky town. meanwhile, goniajak appears, expressin’ that he misses fang and needs her. her dojo fighterZ card as a recruitable NPC reads the following: type of being: dreamer. elements: vampire ‘n dragon. categories: vampire dragon, eastern vampire dragon, dream vampire, chinese bat, jiangshi, bratty bat, playful. description: “a little dreamer with a vivid imagination, she tends to clin’ to others in search of a bit more attention. even so, she is quite kind and sweet, she never wants anyone to get hurt. furthermore, she is the creator of goniajak, upon whom she bestowed a great deal of affection.”
