"Friend of the abandoned"
Ever since he ended up there so many years ago, Oggie has taken well to Lake Onondaga despite its pollution. After realizing he wasn't the only ex-pet there, he decided he was going to watch over and protect them to make sure they had the good lives their previous owners didn't give them, which was gradually made easier by his increasing size as the polluted waters mutated him. Now, with him gargantuan in size compared to how he'd been as a normal salamander, he and the lake's fish live peaceful lives, any potential intruders warded off by both the pollution and the rumors of Oggie's "aggression" he'd intentionally spread.
According to Cryptid Wiki (And a couple other sources, since each don't have much): Oggie began life as an ordinary, if large, salamander that a boy scout happened across in 1972 and kept as a pet for some time. After he got bored of them, his parents released the salamander, who ended up in the highly polluted Lake Onondaga and gradually mutated. Oggie in his new form was first sighted in 1977 by a troop of cub scouts who then made him their mascot (Though their depiction of him is entirely different from this one). He was used as a cautionary tale to keep people from swimming in Lake Onondaga, though nowadays it's in far better condition. The most recent alleged sighting of him I could find was in 2015. He's my favorite of the cryptids in this little art event, and there's a non-zero chance I'll be drawing him again.
