---FINAL FIVE---
Semi Final - "A quartet who police the living."
TRICK: The Dark Judges (Death, Fire, Fear & Mortis) - Judge Dredd
TREAT: Blinky, Pinky, Inky & Clyde - Pac-Man
Getting down to wire now we turn to the most primal fears of man -- death. It is inevitable. It haunts us, judges us and will come for us all and no matter how well we navigate the endless maze of our lives it will eventually catch up to us. Death is a concept I've visited often in my works. It's something I'm oddly invested in, whether it be for comedic effect or not there's something about it that I find...alluring? That's not to say I enjoy death, just that I find mankind's ways of putting a face to it's encroaching demise fascinating. It comes in all different shapes and sizes, where it's a group of undead super cops or a pack of multicolored sheet ghosts.
I've always found the Dark Judges to be great villains, even if they are a tad silly-(I mean one is literally just on fire)-but they're that perfect 90's era comic villain that embraces that silliness to make something that is threatening despite it. It's always been a huge shame to me that because of Dredd's lack of success that we'll never get to see them depicted in a movie.
While in that same vain, the ghosts in Pac-Man manage to be one of the most well known and powerful presences in gaming despite being utterly silly. You don't always have to be big and scary to get the job done. Sometimes all you need is a sheet and determination and people will respect you! (Also I just realized I put in a lot of Namco characters this year...)
