Jack the Clown - Universal Studio's Halloween Horror Nights
See? I told you it would all make sense in the end! From Not-So-Scary to Horror Nights we go full circle from out initial treat to the trick to bring it all home. Because what's Halloween without tricks? But it runs deeper than that...
Within every Floridian there are two wolves -- that of the consistent duality of Disney and Universal. The two great empires that mark this state and while Not-So-Scary has it's place, my heart will always side with Halloween Horror Nights. An event that brings me the unrelenting splatterhouse horrors that my wretched little heart craves...but it runs deeper still!
Halloween Horror Nights has a profound place in my heart. It's something that has been with me for a very long time and a thing I hold dearly. Sure, it may be a shmaltzy theme park attraction, but it is also the last bastion of Halloween fun that this sun drenched hellscape I find myself in provides and it runs in tandem with my Halloween Countdowns themselves. For I started making these back when I first started going all those years ago; no, Halloween Horror Nights isn't the only thing that inspired me to make my countdowns, but if it wasn't for it's presence in my life who knows if I would have continued them to this very day.
And with it being an anniversary year for the event I knew that Jack the Clown, Horror Night's first original icon had to win this year, marking him the perfect parallel to Mickey's innocent demeanor. But even more so, Jack might very well be the most deserving of top billing in all of my countdowns. More than Jack Skellington or Cthulhu before him, this entire thing I do it marked by Jack the Clown's very existence. My first full 31 day countdown concluded with a joke at his very expense, having Dr. Rockso's Carnival of Cocaine to rival that year's "Jack's Carnival of Carnage". He may not be the soul reason I do it, but his presence is always there in the back of my mind and if was this was the last thing I ever do, he deserves to end it all with a bang.
