spiretta (JP:悪血鬼 Akuchioni) is a recurring boss 'n lesser ruler of pumpkin rot in chapter 6 of needle travels; she belon's to the species of dream vampires, so she is technically a vampire. spiretta is a 13-year-old dream vampire with pale, white skin. she wears what appears to be a large ribbon, very similar to reimu’s from touhou. she has prominent fangs which she uses to absorb the essence of any food and drain its colour. she also has dark hair with red wings on her head, her eyes are hidden by her hair, however, she can reveal her true eyes, of which there are three, with red and black pupils. 'round her neck she wears a red scarf with a crystal sphere that enhances the power of her fire abilities. her arms resemble the wings of a feathered devil, however, they are actually concealed beneath them, as these ‘wings’ are in fact dark long sleeves that form part of her outfit, these sleeves appear to 've orange claws 'nd dark buttons, she wears an orange robe, elongated shoes and dark, elongated socks. she is also capable of doublin' the number of sleeves to a total of four, 'nd can stretch them out to use to her advantage in battle. spiretta is a girl who tends to be the most chaotic 'nd insane of the other rulers, displayin' an obvious hyperfixation on various things that catch her attention, she is also a rather unstable 'nd, to a certain extent, sadistic girl. she also seems to shout very often, in an exaggerated, childish 'nd dramatic tone. she also seems to be easily angered and manipulated, she tends to be very dependent on most people 'nd doesn’t want them to leave, otherwise she’ll say she’ll be in a helpless state. she also seems to cry quite a lot if thin's take a turn fer the worse fer her, however, she can 'come happy 'nd friendly if thin's go her way on occasion. she has a compulsive desire to mature and grow up much faster than other dreamers, to the point of tryin' to pretend to be an adult, 'lthough she does so clumsily 'nd ends up gettin' herself into even more trouble than she already had to begin with. however, she 'metimes displays certain signs of maturity when she speaks in a more formal and proper manner at certain moments. she also has a strong hyperfixation with stakes and daggers, to the point of using them as if they were toys. she also has a fondness fer anime 'nd video games, 'nd enjoys makin' friendly gestures, doin' somersaults and dancin' at various times when she is happy 'r calm. spiretta’s speech pattern is peculiar; she tends to use capital letters, 'me with spellin' mistakes that she even struggles to pronounce properly, such as “DREMUR” instead of “dreemer” 'r “DREAMUR” instead of “dreamer”, not to mention that she uses broken musical notation such as “DO RE MON” '“TOU YO” '“POR KI MO”' ''RAN MA'' ''YU JIOH'' ''DAN GANRON PA'' ''PA TA PON'' ''VI RIB ON'' “'SAI LOUR MUN” 'r “'DO RAGON B ALL”'. she also tends to use a bit of leet speak in 'me words, enclosin' certain words in <> such as <SOUL> <PAIN> <DETERMINATION> 'r <LOVE>, 'nd uses japanese words to refer to death, such as '' 死ぬ'“ 'nd ”'死,“” 'nd 'metimes uses a full sentence in japanese. she also often use dark hearts at the start and end of their dialogue, such as '' 🖤DO RE MON🖤“” fer example. she also use the colours red, orange 'nd yellow fer 'me words, possibly to indicate 'methin'. they also tend to shout 'r greet people in a strange way, such as '' 🖤E3EEY LMAO🖤“” or repeatin' letters fer no apparent reason, such as “GGGGGG”. they also often use certain words at the end of each sentence, such as “BUDDY”, “PAL”, “FRIEND” “GUY” 'r “BUDDEH”. 'metimes they use the word “EH”, and they also use words like “LMAO”, “DAT BOI”, “HAWK TUAH”, “SIXSEVEN”, “ROFL” or “DAB”. she often use phrases such as: 🖤I’M NOT YOUR FRIEND, BUDDY!🖤 or others such as 🖤I’M NOT YOUR FRIEND, GUY!🖤 'nd others like 🖤 I’M NOT YOUR BUDDEH, GUY! 🖤 it’s often written without numbers 'nd 'metimes with numbers, accordin' to lolo, this speech pattern is due to her havin' suffered a great deal from neglect, as well as her notorious clinginess 'nd compulsiveness, and the little 'r no education she has received. in the japanese translation, she continues to use the markers typical of a ‘dream vampire’, openin' 'nd closin' with the ‘🖤’ emoticons, but with notable differences, she tends to use rural japanese with poor grammar, omittin' 'me words or spellin' them incorrectly. she often uses a sort of adaptation of her english words, such as ‘ブディ’ fer ‘BUDDY’ ‘グイド’ fer ‘GUY’, ‘フリエト’ fer ‘FRIEND’ 'nd ‘パッカ’ fer ‘PAL’. she also retains the word ‘EH’ in japanese, 'nd uses the words ‘DEATH49’ 'nd ‘94DIE’ as equivalents fer the words ‘ 死ぬ’ 'nd ‘死’. the use of 9 and 4 could be a clear reference to bad luck 'nd death in east asian cultures such as japan 'r china. she has another quirk where she uses the emoticons ‘(oДo)’, ‘(^ω^)’, '“(T_T)”', “”(x_x)“”, and “”(益)“”. these emoticons are usually used when she is confused, happy, sad, depressed 'r angry. she still uses “”<>“” 'nd red, orange and yellow text fer her dialogue, as well as incorporatin' japanese shitpost terminology into her dialogue. her name (spiretta) could be derived from an anagram of ‘spin’; it could also be derived from an anagram of the word ‘spark’, which possibly refers to sparks of fire, 'nd the feminine suffix ‘ette’ or ‘etta’, given that spiretta is a girl. her japanese name, (悪血鬼), is a play on words 'tween ‘悪夢’ (meaning ‘nightmare’) 'nd ‘吸血鬼’ (the word fer ‘vampire’), so its literal translation would be ‘nightmare vampire’, as she is a dream vampire. spiretta’s background is unknown, however, everythin' seems to suggest that she is an orphan, as her parents never came forward, so cornthorn 'nd the others adopted her at that time. it is said that she used to break thin's she didn’t like, however, she would try to fix them in ''me way, though it never worked. she also seems to 've known fang 'nd xiao at 'me point in her life, 'lthough she doesn’t seem to remember much about it. she also used to cry quite loudly, to the point where she simply wouldn’t stop crying, it’s possible that her real parents abandoned her 'cause of these misdeeds. the party may first encounter her in dark laugh woods, where she’ll be with lolo, lookin' 'fter her, 'nd both have been sent by cornthorn to ensure their plans go accordin' to plan. upon findin' them, spiretta will be thrilled to see she has new friends, to the point of spinnin' round 'nd jumpin' 'bout in all directions. when kalligo notices this, she’ll joke that spiretta is lackin' calcium in her brain. this sets the area ablaze, infuriatin' spiretta, in battle, lolo is terrified and runs off. 'fter this, hambo 'nd spiretta will start fightin' each other.in battle. spiretta use these attack patterns: "spear dance": she'll summon two chains of fireballs from her hands, an' they'll move from top to bottom, with two fireballs missin' on the board. "fire vampire": she'll spin 'round to make a bunch of fire bats, an' those'll shoot three random fireballs from different spots at a low angle. "knife party": she'll use her other four arms to summon three knife projectiles, 'n those knives'll aim fer the soul to deal damage. "stake rain": spiretta summon a bunch of sharp stake-shaped projectiles from every angle, the soul gotta follow a specific little gap to avoid extra damage. to spare her, the geek gang gotta use these ACTs: "cosplay party": the geek gang gotta pick this ACT three times in a row, from hambo dancin' with spiretta, all the way to hambo dressin' up as her. tea time, this ACT'll 've hambo play with her fer two turns, from little chats to spiretta playin' dangerously with hambo. recognize "your strength": to finish the battle, spiretta's gotta throw a plastic stake at the soul on the board to see if hambo's stron' deep down, an' either way, whether the geek gang pass 'r not, this ACT'll end the battle at the end. 'fter the battle ends, spiretta says the fight was fun, however, she mentions that somethin' more special is still missing. she is often seen summonin' spirits similar to herself, so that the geek gang wastes their time. in subsequent battles, it 'comes clear that she has a stron' reliance on lolo, to the point where the two form a team, jowever, it seems that spiretta only serves to ruin her plans. at pumpkin cliffs, both lolo 'nd spiretta battle the geek gang. however, everythin' goes awry due to how unstable 'nd uncontrollable spiretta 'comes, so they end up in a draw. later, at the pumpkin palace, she appears in the spooky cafe as one of the characters hambo can talk to in order to easily gain her trust, choosing from three dialogue options when speaking to her. she also appears alon'side lolo when the geek gang are locked in a cell, however, she accidentally reveals 'me information 'bout the key, so kalligo opens the cell 'nd falls out, but not 'fore hambo has a brief chat with lolo. she can also be seen in the battle against fern, lolo, rytta, bakhty 'nd shi, as one of the suspects accused of takin' part in an absurd crime durin' the battle. she can also be seen alon'side the others 'nd cornthorn, they're will say that the future of pumpkin rot is, to a certain extent, uncertain, so spiretta worries a little 'bout this. spiretta will also help the other rulers to stop the geek band alon'side lolo, however, both fail, as 'lways. in the battle against conthorn, she and the other rulers will use their powers to brin' hyper conthorn to life, thereby engaging in a battle against the geek band. at the end of the battle 'nd followin' conthorn’s death, she will appear alon'side the other rulers, this time she will be excited that she will finally be able to make more friends 'nd be happy at last, 'nd she will wish hambo all the best on her travels. in chapter 7 in funky town, she gets relocated to the gamer gang room, meetin' xiao, fang, 'n sweater meat girl (if the party has talked to her since chapter 3) an' naamah, formin' a real tight bond 'tween the vampires in the group, and playin' video games together and jokin' 'round a bit.
