For those of you who don't know, Alfonso was an old character of mine that was a flagship character for quite some time. Long story short, he was a dog priest who in reality was a cultist that served a godlike entity, and he was very, very violent. But, before he was a dog... he was this.
My original idea was Alfonso was a character that can break the fourth wall and travel between dimensions (a.k.a. intrude into the worlds of other artists' OCs, hence the picture of him with Merunyaa's Meru), causing mischief for others all the while.
My earliest, earliest idea for him was a mad scientist with a red, eye-shaped amulet that granted him incredible power, with one of those powers being the power to travel between "dimensions". But I cycled though other designs for him (I recall one being a pimp who used a red jewel to hypnotize women to be his prostitutes) until I decided to make him this guy.
Both his face and hair are based on those of Megaman Juno from Megaman Legends, and the red amulet/jewel became a big red eye design on his robe while his superpowers became a natural part of his body.
It wasn't until a couple drawings I made of him that I realized the idea of him wasn't really working out very well... that is, until I decided to make him a dog priest, and the rest is history.
