Tiki returned home from camp in a rather down mood due to not knowing when he'd see Kody again. His mother had picked him up and asked the usual questions on the ride back home. "How was camp?" "Did you make any friends?" Tiki kept his answers vague and straight to the point - partially because he missed Kody, but mostly because he didn't trust telling his mother about Kody.

His brothers ignored him when he first returned home but they could not resist teasing their little brother. And they were mean-spirited about it.

"It's been so nice without you here all week," was a jaunt that cut deeper than the rest.

Tiki felt himself shutting down. The joyful cub that loved to talk about his interest and explore new things with Kody felt like a completely different cub.

It wasn't more than a couple days that Tiki was upset enough with his brothers that he worked up the courage to ask his mom to call a guidance counselor from Summer Camp.

His mom immediately seemed skeptical, at least from his perspective. The request just caught her off guard. She questioned him, and Tiki shyly gave vague answers. "We camped together. He was my cooking and survival lessons councilor."

When Kody received the call from an unfamiliar number, he was hopeful it was Tiki.

"Hello?"

"Kody.....?" a small, familiar voice answered from the other side.

"Tiki!"

The wolf jumped out of his seat and couldn't help but keep pacing in his room while he chatted on the phone.

Kody's return to life was simple - back to video games, staying in his room and only coming out when his parents had food ready - but he was ecstatic that Tiki reached out to him so soon.

Tiki was hesitant to say too much - knowing his family, it's likely one would be trying to listen in on the line - but he soon happily talked to Kody about his card collection, and the video games he tried to play but would get kicked off so his brothers could play instead, and how it's been too hot for summer here.

Kody eventually mentioned that there was a mall not too far from where they both lived - a half way point for them. He asked if Tiki wanted to hang out at the mall.

Tiki was nervous about the request, he'd have to ask his mom, and she declined most of his request. But he really wanted to see Kody again.

"I can't drive you out there, we can't afford the gas," she answered - Tiki wasn't all that surprised but he felt his heart drop, and he relayed the message to Kody. The wolf offered to pick him up. Tiki's mother had that skeptical look again before answering, "Then I want to meet him first."

Tiki felt a shiver go down his spine.

When Kody arrived to pick up the fox, his mother was not shy in interrogating. "How'd you meet Tiki? "How long have you been a counselor?" "Do you have your driver's license?" "Who's your mother?" "What does your father do?"

Kody obviously kept from talking about the campsite activities, but the questions made him nervous. Eventually, she allowed Tiki to go to the mall with him, telling him to have Tiki back home by eight - which both Tiki and Kody thought was earlier than expected.

Once gone, Tiki hugged Kody tightly before they drove to the mall. Once there, Kody bought Tiki a popsicle, and just sat across from him with a smile. The fox was so darn cute, and looked so happy to be there. Kody noticed the quality of Tiki's clothing - looking like hand-me-downs.

"Want to get some new clothes?" Kody offered with a smile. Tiki had a big smile and nodded.
