Episode 39: Looking for the [second] truth
Back to the luxurious house.
Once back at the house, Anna quickly took over, her medical training kicking in. She laid Hershell on a soft blanket and began her assessment.
"He's dehydrated, we need to get fluids into him immediately," she said, her voice tight with concern.
Maxtone and the rest of The Pups Gang hovered around, their tails wagging anxiously as Anna inserted an IV into Hershell's tiny paw.
The golden retriever pup whimpered softly, but remained unconscious.
"This will help cool him down and rehydrate him," Anna explained, her eyes never leaving her patient.
"I'm grateful that Hershell is still alive," Anna whispered, her eyes never leaving the unconscious pup as she worked tirelessly to save him.
The house was eerily quiet, the usual chatter and playful barks replaced by the solemn silence of the group's concern.
"I hope later when he is awake, he still remembers the crash and he can tell what really happened and where's Master now," Maxtone said, his voice laced with worry as he watched Anna work.
"Master Jerony... He was such a great leader," Sylvex murmured, her eyes never leaving Hershell's still form "we can't lose Hershell too."
Anna nodded gravely, her paws moving swiftly as she attached the saline drip to the IV. The clear fluid began to trickle into his tiny vein, and the room held its breath.
Each drip echoed in the quiet house like a ticking clock, counting down the moments until they knew if their little golden retriever would pull through.
"Maxtone, keep an eye on his vitals," Anna instructed, her voice calm but firm "Svara, Seca, stay with him... I and Luna will get some more information from the jet's black box."
Maxtone nodded, his gaze never leaving Hershell. He watched as the saline drip slowly brought life back to his little friend's body.
Svara and Seca took up positions beside him, their tails thumping the floor in a comforting rhythm.
"Hang in there, buddy," Seca murmured, his clumsy paws fidgeting nervously.
Svara leaned closer, her eyes filled with tears, "we're here for you, Hershell."
Meanwhile, Anna and Luna, including Sylvex dashes to the control room where Luna would analyze the data from the jet's black box.
The room was filled with the soft whirring of computers and the scent of electronic components.
"I'll try to hack the black box again... Huuuhhh... I hope it still can be hacked," Luna said, her eyes already glued to the computer screen, her paws dancing over the keyboard like a pianist playing a symphony of data.
"And I'll help you," Sylvex offered, placing her paws on the keyboard as well "I have some new ninja hacking skills that I learned from Japan."
"What is your new ninja hacking skills, Sylvex?" Anna asked, her eyes curious as she watched Luna and Sylvex work together.
"It's a secret," Sylvex said with a playful wink "but it involves a combination of ancient ninja techniques and modern technology."
Anna couldn't help but smile at Sylvex's confidence. The tension in the room was palpable as they waited for Luna to crack the encrypted data.
The screen flickered with lines of code as Luna's paws danced over the keyboard, her eyes darting back and forth as she searched for any clue that could lead them to Jerony.
"Got it!" Luna exclaimed, her tail wagging furiously.
The screen switched to show a series of images and readings from the jet's last moments.
"Looks like we have cockpit video footage, too," Sylvex said, her eyes shimmering like a diamond as she staring at the screen.
Anna's ears perked up, and she leaned in closer, her heart racing.
"Let's see it," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
The grainy video played out in front of them, showing the panic-stricken moments before the crash. They watched in horror as a missile streaked towards the jet, the image jolting and shaking before going dark.
"Wait a second... Only a few seconds? That's not right," Anna said, furrowing her brow, "there has to be more footage."
"That's all, Anna," Sylvex said, her gaze fixed on the screen "the impact must've destroyed the rest of the data."
"Sylvex right," Luna nodded, her gaze flickering over the data "but I can try to reconstruct some of it using Lynna's holographic tech."
"Do what you can, Luna," Anna nodding, her mind now filled with urgency "we need to find out what really happened to Master, is he actually still alive or... Or not."
