Episode 40: The truth [almost] revealed
A few days has passed, and Hershell was still unconscious. Anna and the rest of the Pups Gang took turns watching over him, each hoping that their friend would soon wake up and tell them what happened to Master Jerony.
The house felt empty without the young techno spy puppy's cheerful barks and the sound of his clumsy paws on the floor.
In the control room, Luna worked tirelessly with Lynna's holographic technology to piece together the last moments of the jet crash. The footage was fragmented, but they managed to create a 3D simulation of the event.
The holographic image hovered in the middle of the room, showing the missile locking on to their jet, the frantic evasive maneuvers, and the eventual impact.
"Look at this!" Anna barked, pointing at a spot where the holographic image of the jet broke apart "it's a parachute... Looks like Hershell using the parachute just after he jumped out of the jet!"
"This means he had time to escape before the crash... He's a smart pup," Luna nodded, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
"But why didn't Master come out of Jet after Hershell jumped out?" Svara asked, her spots standing out with worry.
Anna's ears drooped as she studied the simulation.
"We don't know yet," Sylvex said, her voice tight "but we've got to keep searching."
But after a few days, the puppies still haven't gotten more information. They were worried and confused.
The know that only Hershell who knows the truth about the crash and where is their master.
That night, Anna and Sylvex was at the backyard, watching a sparkling night sky filled with stars.
They couldn't help but wonder where Jerony was, if he was okay, and if he was looking at the same stars.
"You know, cousin... I came here initially wanted to visit and play with Hershell after our last meeting," Sylvex said, her voice barely a whisper as she gazed up at the stars.
"I know, but now we've got a bigger mission," Anna replied "we need to find Master... I know that he's still alive, it's just that we don't know where he is."
"But... What would you think if Master was really passed away?" Sylvex's voice was barely a whisper, the weight of the words heavy in the air.
Anna's gaze remained fixed on the stars.
"I... I can't think like that, Sylvex," she said, her voice shaking "we have to believe he's out there, waiting for us to find him."
"But what if we can't?" Sylvex pressed, her own voice filled with doubt.
"Well... Huuuhh, yeah... We'll try to survive first," Anna said firmly, turning to face Sylvex "and if the worst has happened, we'll honor his memory by continuing his legacy... We're The Pups Gang, and we stick together, no matter what."
Sylvex nodded, a hint of determination sparkling in her diamond eyes, "you're right, Anna... We'll find him, or we'll create a new mission to remember him by."
The two pups stood in silence for a moment, the quiet night air thick with unspoken fears and hopes. Then, Sylvex spoke up again.
"There's something I need to tell you, Anna," she began, her tone serious "when I was in the cave with Hershell... I see something that so strange, but... I think it's important."
"What was it?" Anna's ears perked up, her eyes searching Sylvex's face for answers.
Sylvex took a deep breath.
"I saw a symbol carved into the wall of the cave," she said, her voice low "it was faint, but it looked like the emblem of the dark shadow syndicate."
"Thunderbolts Corporation... It is a nuclear terrorist network in the world, under the leadership of Elena Rose," Anna said, her voice laced with concern as the implications of Sylvex's discovery sank in.
"It was a rival to our master, Jerony... They are known for their brutality and their love for chaos," Anna continued, her voice was firmly.
Sylvex nodded gravely.
"I remember hearing about them," she said, her tail drooping "but what could they want with a puppy like Hershell?"
"SoS chipset... Our spy satellite... And our encrypted communication devices are linked to it," Anna murmured, her mind racing "if they had it, isn't only will be the end of us but it will be the end of everything."
"What is that means, the end of the world can happen if..." Sylvex's voice trailed off, her eyes wide with horror.
"Yeah, they can control everything," Anna said, her voice barely above a whisper "we need to keep Hershell safe at all costs."
Two weeks passed but Hershell remained unconscious, his fever finally broken but his body still weak from the ordeal. Anna had managed to stabilize him, but he hadn't regained consciousness.
The Pups Gang took turns by his side, whispering encouragements and praying for his recovery. The house, once full of laughter and energy, had turned into a solemn vigil.
Maxtone, Svara, and Seca were patrolling the perimeter, just to make sure their house is safe.
Because after Jerony's death, they must always be vigilant and alert for any danger that could threaten their pack. Their hearts were heavy, but their spirits remained strong, fueled by the hope that Hershell would soon wake up and tell them the truth about their master's fate.
Maxtone hovered in the air, using his advanced air spy gear to survey the area, while Svara and Seca patrolled the ground.
They had become more cautious, more attentive to every sound and scent.
"Do you think Hershell will ever wake up?" Seca asked, his clumsy paws shuffling through the leaves.
Maxtone looked over at him, his gaze serious.
"He has to," he said "we need him to tell us what happened to Master."
Svara's eyes searched the horizon.
"I know it's hard, but we have to stay strong," she said "we are spies, we can't let our emotions cloud our judgment."
"Ngghhh... Svara, Seca... Can you keep the perimeter... I need to poop," Maxtone's voice crackled over their pup-tag communication devices, interrupting the somber mood.
"Now?!?? But we're in the middle of a patrol, Maxtone," Svara groaned, rolling her eyes as she then looked up at him, hovering in the air.
"Sorry, but nature calls," Maxtone said with a shrug "it's the curse of flying too much."
"Fine, we'll keep an eye out," Svara sighed, her voice resigned.
Maxtone landed on the ground and then he dashed to the house, leaving Svara and Seca to continue the patrol. The two pups shared a look of understanding, and then Svara turned to Seca.
"You don't need to go too, Seca?" she teased, her tail wagging slightly.
"No, I'm good," Seca replied, his ears flattening slightly with embarrassment "but thanks for asking."
"Alright... Um... I have to use the bathroom too," Svara said as she suddenly running away leaving Seca alone.
""Huuuhhh... Not Maxtone, not Svara... They're same," Seca murmured to himself, his clumsy paws continuing to patrol the area.
His eyes scanned the grounds, searching for any signs of trouble or intrusion.
Meanwhile, Anna was still next to Hershell's bedside, her eyes never leaving his still form.
"You're going to be okay," she whispered, her paws gently stroking his head "we're going to find Master, I promise."
