Bonus Scene # 4
Takes place between Chapter 3 and 4
Kae POV
“Kae, did you buy something online? I saw a pack-” I rushed past the peacock’s feathers to get my goods outside. After not working for close to a month, I realized I needed something to spice my life up. And what better way than to splurge it on makeup.
Swishing my tail and returning from the door step, I used my claws to open the tape. Ryan tossed his bag to the side, widening his eyes as he watched me tear the thing up in seconds.
“Damn, what did you buy?”
“Just some fashion products,” I said, “A lady like me needs some spice.”
“Right. Are they safe for u-”
“I mean, we’re mostly human. So it should be fine…” I carried the boxes back to the washroom and began shaking them. Excitement filled the room. I had been dreaming of this day since middle school. Secretly, I would watch make-up tutorials and other fashion creators on my phone. While my more ‘normal’ interests would be on my computer.
Closing my eyes, I applied the first layer of moisturizer and primer. It felt a little weird. A little off, but I carried on and applied the foundation. Added the concealer to hide some fur, wiped a bit more on the blush and I looked… Yeah, something was wrong. ‘
The blush emphasised too much on my natural coat while the concealer only served to make me look more human. Like this was meant for other ladies, not anthros for me. Especially with the coloring being more beige than my natural orange fur.
Still, maybe I was being overly critical with myself.
I stepped outside and pointed at my face, “So how do I lo-” His tail feathers flung up and fanned out in shock. Right, “Thanks for answering.”
“Oh Kae, I…” He scratched against his neck. “It's just a little uncanny seeing you with make up. Like you’re neither here nor the-”
I rolled my eyes and sighed. “Yeah, figures. But it's a bummer, I just thought I could finally apply make-up.”
Under his breath, he gruffed out, “You already are pretty enough though.” My ears twitched and a thick blush singed my cheeks. Gah! Since when did he say these things?
“Sorry, what did you say?”
“Ah, nothing! Just saying how good tonight’s dinner was!”
“Right,” I said, glancing back at him. Still, my tail couldn’t hide my joy, swishing faster than before. “Thanks for the compliment.”
“It…it's nothing.” Grabbing the plates to the back, he began to wash them. As I washed my face, I beamed with pride, packing the products back into a bag.
Guess I didn’t really need them, after all.
