“Brad, what’s wrong?” The dragoness stepped back after opening the door, a little shocked to see her brother slam the door behind him.
The larger dragon shook his head. “It’s… about the spell you cast. What did you do to Alex?”
Brigh covered her mouth. Her arms trembled a little. “Shit, is she alright? I… I… made sure all of the spells were safe even if they backfired like right now an-”
“Ok, calm down. This isn’t that big of a deal.” He scratched against his arms. Fuck. Just thinking about this stung against his conscience. It shouldn’t even matter. This was what she wanted for years now but… The fact that he was so bothered only made him feel worse.
Alex suddenly called out, “Brad, you in there?”
“Yes, yes! I’m just talking with Brigh!”
“Oh, alright then!” She continued carrying boxes into her new room.
Now, he hushed down his tone. “Just… Tell me what spell you cast on Alex. Clearly.”
Brigh heaved a sigh of relief. “It's nothing much. She just wanted to be stronger and so I cast a physical enhancement spell on her. But I mischanted a little and changed her gender in the process.”
“Wait, what about the dra-”
“Probably from the spell itself. It was always meant to be for dragons like us instead of regular folk. But still, what’s wrong with Alex?”
He scratched against his head. Shit. What was he supposed to say now?
“Come on, she sounds fine to me.” She nudged against his arm. “Please Brad. If there’s something wrong with Ale-”
“She’s now just as strong as me now.” He sighed, covering his face. There, boxes dropped onto the floor with a loud plop. Brigh calmed herself down, relieved to hear that her spell worked out well. “In the mall, she would pull me around like it was nothing.”
“Isn’t that good?”
“Yes but… She’s supposed to be the weak one.”
Brigh rolled her eyes before punching against his biceps. “Yeah, that’s exactly why I changed her to be stronger. You always like to make fun of her for everything. Why can’t you just be normal about this?”
“Look, it's our birthright. We were born strong. Raised to be the strongest predators to roam the land. Of course, I have to be strong like t-”
“Times changed.” Brigh opened the door, yawning. “Plus, it's kinda cringe of you to feel this way.”
“What’s cringe?” Alex asked, stretching her head out whilst carrying another stack of boxes. “Man, this body is jacked! Can’t believe I could lift these boxes this easily.”
“Oh nothing. Brad is telling something about a cringe clip he saw in the mall.”
“Ohhh, I don’t know why he would need this privacy unless…” She licked her muzzle. “Ah I see, it's those kinds of clips~.”
“Wait, wait, this is a misunderstanding!” Brad quickly helped to bring in the other boxes, pushing the doubts and unease to the back of his mind.
Over the next few days however, it still lingered in his mind. Just always there. He was mostly busy during the day. Going to lectures and rushing for reports distracted him enough to keep him away.
But during the quiet hours, the unease would rear its ugly head. Yes, his best friend was now his girlfriend but… She shouldn’t be strong. That wasn’t how their dynamic worked; he was the strong one while she always relied on him for help on physical strength.
Late at night, he halted under a street lamp. He covered his face. A pinch of guilt attached to each of his heavy thoughts. He should be happy. Alex finally got what she wanted for years. To be strong and could lift her own weights but…
The dragon leaned against the fence. Under the dim lights, his tail flailed around the ground.
It's been years since they were assigned to one another. And was it wrong of him to feel strong in comparison to his friend? He was the strong but dumb one. Alex was the weak but smart one. They… They fixed each other up, didn't they?
He shook his head. Alex used to be a guy but now she’s a beautiful hybrid. With dragon scales and horns to boot. Things changed. He reasoned to himself.
But it just clawed against his mind. To have her finally be as strong as him was almost an insult. An insult to himself because… Without his strength, what was he even left with? His whole family prided themselves on strength; his great ancestors were the first hunters. Clawing down their enemies and being at the top of the food chain.
A sigh escaped. Sliding down to the ground, his legs stretched out, blocking the pavement. Nobody was around anyways. Insecurities ran wild within his mind. If she found out she was this strong… Who was he in this relationship? He wasn’t smart and he wasn’t strong… He was just…
Useless.
The word echoed in his mind. He shook his head. No way Alex would think that about him, right?
Right?
Suddenly, his phone buzzed. It was Alex, asking him when he was returning back to his dorms. The dragon glanced away. No… She couldn’t find this out. He had to keep his place somehow. Brand looked back at where he came from — the campus buildings with a lit 24/7 gym on the second floor.
‘Gotta train for competition.’ He lied. Walking back to the gym, the solution was clear. He just had to be stronger. To maintain superiority over her. Right. He did this before. He had gone through training before. He just had to do it again.
On the other end of the phone, Alex tapped against the table. Strange. Brad’s competition was months away. She would know — she had tabs on his schedule to show up for cheering him on even as a guy. Her face blushed as she glanced at the empty bed.
As school started, she was lucky enough to attend her tutorials online. Most of the professors were still in a holiday mood apparently so they held it online. Great for her. More time to explore what her body could do.
Still, whenever she was out for meals, she definitely spotted more people glancing at her. Some were obviously gawking at her — a few brave ones asked for her number, only for her to flee the scene. She was faster yet she wasn’t used to running away. Not off balance. More so her posture had shifted to be more feminine like how the wind brushed against her skirts.
Her face turned red from remembering her run. Ugh… The tiniest part of her was still arguing that she was a man. That she should be more firm in rejecting those creeps. However, she couldn’t help but enjoy the attention.
For the past decade or so, she never had strangers walk up to her like that. And for the former nerd, she… She liked people talking to her for her looks (as sad as that might have sounded).
Still, the bulk of her attention wasn’t positive. Her ears twitched to the sides whenever she heard the word ‘hybrid’. Like she didn’t fit in. Or how she was an accident of sorts. She leaned against her arm with her heart pounding against her chest. Guessed attention was a double edged sword.
Maybe if Brad was here… He could’ve reassured her. That she was perfectly normal just the way she was. Alas, he was out training. Her eyes slowly darted down at her body in her nightgown.
She liked it. She liked her new sexy body, with her curves all in the right spots and how strong she was compared to her former self. And the scales and horns only made her look cooler. In her opinion of course.
Her tail swished a little left then to the right. Sure, changing genders was a bigger hurdle than she expected. Buying dresses and skirts, adjusting to her pronouns being shifted, being more sensitive to her body… All of those were a challenge in their own right. But the sex with Brad and this current relationship with him was something she never wanted to lose.
Feeling a little drowsy, she turned off the lights and laid in bed. Her mind was still ruminating over the harsh gazes on her. Society had different expectations however. Maybe if she was a guy, it wouldn’t be that bad. Just had to blend in there and be unseen.
But being a woman only caught gazes from others; like oil to fire, gossip sparked discussion around her existence. She tossed in bed. Maybe this was all unfounded worries. She was just thinking too much about it.
Though she would soon know once the following week arrived.
Days passed by. Dread covered her intestine with Brad beginning to avoid her. Their conversation dried up as she barely saw the dragon in the house. Always claiming to be training.
Afraid to ask up, she hid her worries down her throat, allowing the day to arrive.
Dressed up in modest attire, she took a photo of herself in the mirror. She sent it to Brad, asking ‘So how do I look?’
‘Amazing as usual babe.’
‘Btw I won’t come back for dinner. Training again.’
The hybrid sighed. When was the last time she snuggled into his chest…? Making her way to the class, she sat in the front row where her seat was. While she climbed down the stairs, she could see everyone giving her glances.
Her ears twitched once whispers poured down. A few asked who she was. Asking if she was a new student or where Alex went. The others? About how she didn’t fit in here. Her hybrid status once again brought up — with feelings from pity to outright mocking her.
She closed her ears as the professor entered. “Settle down people! Today we’ll be to-” Alex opened up the slides as she tried to tune out the whispers. She couldn’t be that interesting to talk about.
Right?
With the lesson progressing, the little whispers were getting to her, crawling behind her mind. She pushed it down. Deeper. Who cares what the others say? She… She was perfectly fine on her own.
“Is there anyone who would like to answer this question?” The professor tapped on the blackboard. “Remember this will give extra credit.”
Extra credit. See, something to take her mind off. Her hand rose immediately, prompting the professor to raise his eyebrows. “Huh, never seen you around.”
She brushed her hair. “Umm… There were some changes… Professor Smith.”
“Interesting. You sure you aren’t in the wrong class, miss?” He winked back, handing her a chalk. Chuckles followed up. Fuck.
With shaky steps, she walked up and wrote her work. All eyes were on her. Fuck. They were all looking at her. The little chatter only provoked her further. Fuck… They were all talking about her.
“I don’t recall having a hybrid in my class.” The panther professor said, brushing against his grey beard. “Especially one as exotic as you.”
“I suppose so, Professor.” Her grip on the chalk tightened with her symbols deepening down.
“You know what they say about hybrids, a mis-”
Alex clapped her hands, placing the chalk on the board before rushing back.
“Let me see here,” He said, squinting at the equations written. Meanwhile, her heart was pounding. Both in anger and anxiety. So what if she was a hybrid? She wasn’t a mistake. She loved this body over her plain self and yet… Everyone else had other ideas. “Yeah, full credit! May I know your name, miss?”
“Ummm…”
“C’mon if you don’t say it, I won’t be able to give out the marks.” He chuckled.
She sighed. “It's Alex.”
His eyes widened as he jotted something down. “Oh my… I supposed we should have a chat about what happened to you down the line.” Knots tied up in her stomach. Great. A chat with the professor.
Settling into her seat, the chatter about her died down with the professor explaining the question in full. Their attention shifted towards the content at hand. A monstrous mess of symbols that resembled actual runes. Alex giggled a little. Even Brig’s runes didn’t look as bad as the equations written on the board.
The class went smoothly afterwards. Alex already prestudied this but hearing it from the professor made it easier. With the cat dismissing the class, a soft ‘Hey’ shocked Alex. She dropped her pen to the floor.
Picking it up for her, a pure white wolf stood next to Alex’s seat. She had a small frame, slightly shorter than Alex, but her ears and tail were twitched around. “Ummm… Would you like to have lunch with us? ”
“Sorry?”
She blushed hard. The wolf covered her face. “I… I thought it would be nice to have lunch together as girls. Would you like th-?”
The hybrid had a blank expression. Eating out with friends? When she was a guy, nobody asked her out to eat except for Brad. The most anyone did was compliment him. She cleared her throat. “Su-sure! I would love to!”
“Alright then!” Her eyes lit up, her tail wagged on as her voice lifted up, “Oh I almost forgot, I’m May! And you are?”
“Alexia.”
“Alright, let’s go! It's been so long since I’ve seen another girl in class!” She pulled Alex’s hand towards the canteen. Her soft fur made Alex blush hard. Like pillows, she could sink her head within it.
Going to the place, there were two other girls on the round seat. An owl, brown feathers and sharp eyes, turned her head around to meet them. She waved her wings, hooting out, “Over here, May!”
Alex settled in her seat, her legs spreading out on instinct, squeezing against the final member: A lanky grey rabbit with her piercings along her ear.
“May, who is the new girl?” She asked, yawning between her words.
“She’s Alexia, one of my classmates! Didn’t think another girl would attend a Complex Analysis module.” She winked back. “Oh sorry, I forgot to introduce them to you. This is Maddy,” She pointed at the rabbit. “Computer science major and the Owl is Erica, a physics major.”
“Oh hi there.” Alex reached her hand out awkwardly for a handshake. Maddy shook it before gesturing for her to move in. “Could you move in a bit? A little squeezy here.”
Alex’s ears flopped down before closing her legs up. Gah… She didn’t have that anymore. “Alright Alex, could you introduce yourself to us?” May tilted her head to the left. “I mean, this is the first time I’ve ever seen you in class.”
“Yeah… Been really sick and just got back to school now” She scratched her hair, brushing it to the side. Guilt pricked against her heart. For the first time, she had people interested in becoming her friend and here she was lying. Her stomach growled a little. “Sorry about that, let’s get lunch.”
“Get me the usual vegetables,” Erika said before adding on, “Maddie too.”
“And for you, Alexia?”
“I’ll go with you then.” She said, stumbling on her steps. The queue was shorter than expected as they quickly bought their food.
Returning back to their seats, Alex spotted out how touchy they were between one another. In the past, Brad would just joke that it’s ‘no homo’ and slap his ass. Guess there were some changes…
“So… new girl, why are you studying Maths of all majors?” Maddie asked. “Thought you’ll be more into Bio.”
Alex munched on her food, shaking her head. “Haha, bio was my worst subject in high school. Hated everything about memorizing those damn charts and organs. Honestly, I was surprised to even pass it.”
“Oh?” Erica hooted. “Thought you’d be more interested in it?”
Alex blinked back at the owl. “Do I look like that type of gu-girl?”
May nodded. “I mean, for a hybrid like you… Wouldn’t you be more curious about your heritage?”
That damn word again. Hybrid. Did they invite her out because she was a freak? That she was something to laugh at? Still, Alex didn’t show it on her face. “I mean… I-”
“Actually, what hybrid are you? Kinda look like a fox and a lizard.”
“Or those slimy frogs.”
“Hey, that’s rude. She doesn’t have slimy skin like those…”
Maddie continued, “Still, my point remains. It's unfortunate. Maybe you can learn how to reverse the changes. And go back to being a nor-”
“Alexia, you alright?” May asked, reaching over to her fur. “Oh wow, you had scales. Must be a rep-”
“Yeah… Just a bit overwhe-”
“What about your parents? Is it recessive or was it dominant?”
Erica had a tint of sadness in her eyes. “Its unfortunate. I mean, you'd be such a pretty vixen if those horns weren't there. And that tail of yours is a litt-”
“Don’t be so rude. May-maybe she likes this?” May barked back, "It's not her fault she’s like this.”
The trio nodded with Alex’s stomach churning inside. Same glances. Same eyes that she didn’t quite fit in with everyone at this table. She covered her mouth, trying not to show her expression.
“Ultimately, it's her parents' fault. They should’ve known better than to mix. And now Alex has to pay the price.”
“Yeah… Still can’t believe they were that reckle-”
Alex suddenly slammed the table. Huffing and puffing. Her tears were on the brink of dripping. This shit again. It was one thing to call her a freak. It was another to blame her parents. In a frantic mess, she ran. Fled the scene and left her food by the table.
“Wait, Alexia!” May reached out and tried to grab her arm. But she slipped past her paws.
Running back to Brad’s dorm, she locked the door. Panting. Covering her eyes, she looked down at the tears that fell. Fuck… Was she really that different? Why did everyone all have that look of pity?
She pulled out her phone and called Brad. Please. If there was anyone that could help her, it was him. The one guy that she had fell head over heels for.
Unfortunately, Brad was still at the gym. His muscles cranked as he hit another bench press. Loud music that was playing on his phone stopped as Alex called. Fuck… Guilt held against his conscience. Should he pick up?
“Brad! Faster! You aren’t done with your set!” His lion friend roared out, acting as his spotter. With that adrenaline spike, he swiped away Alex’s call and finished his set. Pain surrounded his body from muscle soreness.
The intensive training was paying off — just within the first few days, his personal best of 170 kilograms had now risen to 240 kilograms. His stamina grew better as well as his overall chest muscles were firmer.
Yet, the fatigue was catching up to him.
Gyming for seven days a week without a single rest day had made his entire body sore. He was on a strict bulking diet, which made him hate meals. Not to mention, the past few days, he was slowly slipping to where he was originally before. Someone weak and worthless.
He panted a bit, sitting on the bench set. This wasn’t enough. He had to be much stronger than her. Else, who was he? Some weakling that couldn’t protect his family honour? Plus, this was to make her stay with him. That’s probably why she even liked him in the first place.
“Bro, you good?” His friend nudged against his bulging biceps. “You should really take a rest day. Coach is kinda worried about you.”
Brad shook his face. “I’m fine… Just a bit more an-”
“Nah, that’s cap. You’ve been limping within the gym while your form is straight up garbage. All I’m seeing is someone tryna get hurt.”
“It’s just today only.”
“Yesterday as well. And the day before. And during practice, you had to be sat ou-”
The dragon rolled his eyes. “That’s one ti-”
“You’re our star player, Brad. The hell got you this scared?”
He stood up, pinching between his eyes. “Forget it. I’ll just do it myself then. I’ll get Devon to spot me tomorrow.”
The lion huffed. “You’re seriously gonna get hurt if you keep this up.”
To which Brad whispered under his voice as he walked away. “Better than being weak.”
Chugging down water within the toilet, he looked himself in the mirror. Alex would get this, right? She would love a man way stronger than her. More so than just being equals. He flexed his biceps before feeling a cramp kicking in. Ah fuck, that hurt like hell.
Through some cooldown exercises, he managed to loosen the cramp. Alright. Just another month of training and he should be good to go.
His phone kept buzzing however, over and over again ever since he went to the toilet. Instead of Alex, it was from Brigh, messaging:
‘Come back’
‘ASAP’
‘tf did u do to Alex?’
‘she’s crying in your room.’
‘Never seen her this sad.’
‘Like a melt down.’
His heart skipped a beat. Alex? Crying? Who hurt her? He thought everything was fine with her? She was strong enough to beat up any guys, right? Dragon blood and all that. He packed his things and rushed out of the gym.
Under the cold drizzle, he merely charged through it. Shit… And he hung up on Alex? He must be the worst boyfriend ever… What if she leaves him? Were they breaking up? All of these possibilities and doubts twisted his guts in the worst way possible. He felt like he couldn’t breathe.
Pain only escalated the experience as his body creaked from just walking. Guess Leo was right. His whole body was tearing itself apart. He had a sprain around his ankle from doing too many calves exercises. Or how his chest felt terrible with each breath.
But it didn’t take long for Brad to reach back to his place.
Opening the door, completely drenched, he spotted Brigh on the chair. Glaring back at him. “Brad, did you bully her again?”
“No! I swear! I… I thought everything’s fine!” He dropped his things before grabbing a towel to dry himself. “What happened to her?”
Brigh sighed. “When I came back, I just saw her crying on the floor. Tears all over. She looked like a mess. When she spotted me, she just went back to her cheery self before going into your room. Wouldn’t even tell me what’s wrong.”
“Then what makes you think I di-”
“Cause you’ve been a dick to her? It's been so long since I saw you two interact. Every night, she just waits for you excitedly in your room and every night, you’re not there. The fuck is going on?”
Another twist against his heart. Brad merely hung his head low and rushed to his room. He really didn’t want her to know about this. Especially with how insecure he was about strength. But… If it meant explaining all of his actions to her, so be it.
Creaking the door open, he spotted her laying in his bed within the dark room. A blanket covering up her whole body with her tail exposed. Frozen in place. There, he could still hear the sobs. So very faintly.
“Ale-Alex?” He tapped against her shoulder.
No response.
Yeah, he really had fucked up, didn’t he? Sitting beside her shivering body, he swallowed down his pride. “It’s been a while since we talked, hasn’t it?”
Another silent answer.
“I… I’m sorry for this Alex. I really am.”
The crying grew louder as her tail flicked upwards.
He brushed against his hair, hanging his head low. “I think I owe you an explanation first before… Well whatever this is.”
Her body squirmed, moving closer to the edge. “D…Do you hate me?” She croaked out. “E…every night you don’t co-”
“Hate you? Babe, I still lo-”
“Yeah sure… You’re just out the-there seeing other norm-normal girls. Not like a freak hybrid.”
He shook his head. “Please. The only people I see are sweaty men at the gym.”
“Again w-with this gym excuse?”
“I…”
She turned around, glaring at him in the eye. Her tears still streaming down from her maw. “I should’ve known that you were ly-lying… About me. About us. Claiming to be training for a competition when there weren’t any. Bu-”
“I was training.”
“Training for what?” She rolled her eyes. “Please Brad, I… I can’t deal with your stupid lies now. Ju-”
“It’s the truth.” He sighed, leaning against the back of the wall. “I… I was training because of you.”
“Me? What the hell did I even do?”
Brad could feel the words coming out of his mouth. If he said this… Would he be hurting her even more? Insecurity grasping against his neck while he tried to find the right words. Her gaze only sharpened. Squinting at the man. “You’re as strong as me now, alright?” A light red tint surfaced up his face, glancing away. “And I feel ashamed to be beside you…”
She blinked back at the man. The big burly dragon that was always stronger than her was now insecure about his strength. She giggled. “No way, what are you ev-”
“I’m serious. That day at the mall, do you remember you pulling me to the stall?”
“Yeah?”
“In the past, you wouldn’t be able to make me take a step. Now? You can do it easily. I mean, I’m supposed to be the strong one while you’re the smart one. That’s how it has always been, right?” His voice choked up by the middle. “So I trained. And trained for these weeks. End on end. But I c-”
His eyes brimmed with tears while Alex shifted her position to be sitting next to him. Gripping against his muscles, she poked against them. “I… I never realized how much strength meant to you.”
“It means just as much as you, no? That’s the only reason why you fe-”
She chuckled, leaning against his arm. “Honestly, muscles are nice but they aren’t as sweet as you.”
“Me?”
“Yeah. You Bradly, are the only one who would go any lengths for me.”
“That’s not true.”
“I mean whenever I’m down, you were there to give pep talks or how you would listen to my problems whenever you’re free.”
“You would do the same, wouldn't you?” He raised his eyebrow, wiping the tears away.
She nodded. “Of course. But these small gestures made me fall for you. Not your strength, silly.”
“Bu-”
“I just want to see my handsome boyfriend, alright? I… I don’t care if I’m stronger or if you’re stronger. I just want you by me, is that too much to ask for?”
Brad shook his head. “Handsome me? You’re more prettier tha-”
“That’s not what everyone thinks.” Her ears flopped downwards. “Everywhere, people think of me as a freak.”
His hands pulled her face towards him. “No, you’re not a freak.”
“Yes, I am.” Tears welled up once more. “A hybrid that's just a fr-freak…”
“Oh Alex, who hurt you?” He hugged her, embracing her tighter. “Just let m-”
“It’s everyone, Brad! Onlookers, classmates, my own professor and some of my new friends… I just… I just hate thi-”
“Alex, calm down.” He brushed her hair to the side. “So what if they think of you as we-”
“So what? Then I-”
“Are they going to hurt you?”
“Bu-but it hurts to keep having ey-”
Brad cleared his throat. “Just let them stare, alright Alex?”
“And then let them mock me for being a hy-”
“Do you hate this form?”
She shook her head with her tears falling onto the bed. “No, I love it but wo-”
“Then it’s fine. Alex, do you know what you really need?”
She gripped against his scales tighter. “To learn more magic and cloak my-”
“Nah, you need higher self esteem. Of your body. Cause if you’re happy, who are we to dec-”
She blinked back at Brad. “So even if you hated this form, you still wan-”
“Yeah. I’ll still want you to stick to your guns with this.”
“But that hurts! This is the same as being ugly! Like in middle sc-”
He rolled his eyes and chuckled. “You were kinda ugly now that you mention it.”
“That’s besides the point. The poi-”
“Fuck them then. Fuck everyone who talks shit about your hybrid status. You love it and that’s enough.” He shrugged. “You can’t please everyone, Alex. So stop worrying about it, babe.”
“Bu-”
He pulled her closer. “I know it hurts. But you don’t want to change back, do you? So you need to stand up for yourself, alright?”
“I guess…” Alex pouted a little while Brad let out a wince when moving his body to the side. “And you too! I don’t care if you’re strong or weak. Just be there for me, alright Brad?”
“You got it, Madam.”
“Now, let’s make up all that lost time, shall we?” She licked against her maw before diving into his lips.
________________
Days passed by, Alex now moved on, ignoring other people’s glances. It was hard initially but she learned to just move past these glances and chatter. Luckily, the topic eventually died out as she was seen as normal once more.
Brad now went back to his laidback way. Still reassuring Alex in whatever worries she had, he just followed routine while adding a gym session or two here and there.
As for Alex’s friends, she came out and told them the truth, explaining how she used to be Alex and how she loved being a hybrid. Closing her eyes, she expected to be shunned by her new friend group, only to be excitedly accepted into the friend group itself.
And within her new friend group, she learnt about cosplaying. Slowly, that fascination turned to curiosity, buying wigs and clothes to cosplay characters. Just little bits and pieces.
Then one day, she went all in. Buying the full cosplay set with make up as one of the female main leads in her game. “Brad, you ready~” She said, still in the toilet, applying the last touches.
“Always am, honey!”
Revealing herself in her character’s pose, her face blushed red as Brad’s jaw went agape. His hands however took photos as she switched up the poses. She didn’t think she was going to be this sexy for her boyfriend.
“Oh, my princess, could you please indulge in my sins~”
“Only if you let me take some blood,” She said, bearing her fake fangs out. “Cause you lo-
“Brad!” A sudden bang on the door shocked the duo as they glanced at it. Alex froze up, recognising the voice. Her mum. Shit, she didn’t tell them about this yet. “Is Alexander in there?” Her dad asked.
“Umm, he isn’t here, sir!”
“Well, let us in already! We just want to hear how our little fox is doing, alright?”
The couple talked in hushed voices with the door banging. With Brad walking up, Alex could only groan in silence.
When were they ever going to catch a break…?
