For it's 20th year, I've started a project to illustrate every (major) chapter in the GeneX series! (sfw only)
It's finally time for GeneX - Knuckles the Echidna! I'll go over each pic chapter by chapter and briefly explain them. Or you could read the fanfic. I've got pools for the stories, and bigger stories have been collected into arcs as well, like this arc here: https://inkbunny.net/s/2863074
Ch. 21 - Bombs have been planted in the sewers to destroy key targets in Troblusk City. Knuckles teams up with Gemini and some others to find and disarm the bombs. This image is supposed to depict Adam trying to get rid of a bomb...but the Ai makes it look like he's aiming to blow up Gemini...and that's the BEST I could pull off :/
Ch. 22 - Eddie the hyena attempts to protect the bombs with his illusions. Oh, and Rainbow was there.
Ch. 23 - Punchy fighting Patch in Despair Castle. Copter & Punchy were looking for Rainbow, who was seen with Kosmo, who might be at Despair Castle... Yeah, this story gets convoluted ^^'
Ch. 24 - Talon escapes with one of the Chaos Emeralds that Despair had acquired. Punchy and Copter have a bit of a chaotic escape from the castle themselves.
Ch. 25 (first image) - A flashback; Bucky meets Hope the Raven, who comforts him after the former human has been rejected by his family, thought of as a monster due to his transformation into a rat.
Ch. 25 (next image) - Sonic heads for the Security Tower, which has been taken over by Eggman. Amy attempts to make Sonic jealous by giving her affection to Silver, or "Silvy Wilvy", as she calls him.
Ch. 26 (two images) - Eggman's forces have gathered at the top of the Security Tower, but all of this was little more than a ruse to draw Sonic's attention away from Central City. I can't generate the robots Sonic actually fought, so I added him to Spiny the Porcupine's fight with Metal Sonic.
Ch. 27 - Kosmo has to fight an enraged Punchy in Dark Punchy form over the missing Rainbow. Violet is able to snap Punchy out of it, and Punchy & Kosmo team up.
Ch. 27~28 - Experiments 1, 2 and 3 (Punchy, Copter & Kosmo) join forces to battle their way through GUN Headquarters. Punchy is looking for Rainbow, Copter wants to save Heather (oh yeah, Heather was captured by Guard at Despair Castle. She's been brought back to life.) And Kosmo, uhh... had some other flimsy pretext for the teamup. (This story is tough for me to remember the details of...)
Ch. 28 - A misfire from Gemini's wand strikes the President, and reveals that he was an imposter; Loskeletor! He was spurning GUN to battle Despair, and also taking advantage of a doomsday weapon being developed by Dr. Nammed: Project GXterminate! (Which utilized Gemini's wand and Heather's phoenix energy...plus a Chaos Emerald... This story was so convoluted...)
Ch. 29 - Knuckles, Tails, Shadow and Gemini all end up in the Dream Temple. Shadow is once again faced with memories of his past while the Dream King takes the form of Mephiles (who Shadow doesn't exactly remember).
Ch. 30 - Knuckles faces some of his own nightmares as the Dream King becomes Shadow Knuckles. I wanted to depict the actual battle where the Dream King transforms into Perfect Chaos, but Ai just wasn't going to do it. During the battle with Perfect Chaos, Knuckles decides to expand his duties beyond Angel Island, calling himself the Guardian of All.
