Similar to the Anki, they just took a long time to get. But I digress... ---- Existing alongside the raunikayle as the smallest of the sentient species, the Kethana are a far cry from their slave race counterparts, being highly gifted in the use of magic and well respected within Edarel by other species. The Kethana are second only to the emerald dragons in power and social status and due to their history, serve as the most volatile race in all of Edarel. Standing at only an average of about 0.5 meters tall, the Kethana measure at about the same height as a raunikayle. Their fur color is reminiscent of the elemental affinity combination that they are born with, with light always being present as one of their presiding attributes. Kethana themselves are short and stocky, with small arms and legs coupled with a prominently large, soft, rounded belly that takes up most of their form. The Kethana walk in a way that could be considered waddling with their bodies being ill suited for fast movement. Kethana have large, thick, furred tails that round out their form, with the tail towering over their smaller frames. At the tip, the tail wraps around a large colored gemstone, with this stone being their most prominent feature. The stone is heavy, weighing the already heavyset species down even more. Many often have the gem on the tail carved into shapes to better stand out. They have a gemstone on their forehead as well, which sometimes matches the color of the gem on their tail, but can often differ. Kethana have an average lifespan of around 90-100 years, and while their elemental affinity varies, they are always found with a light attribute. Despite the large amount of variation however, no Kethana has ever been found possessing the dragon attribute. Ability wise, The Kethana are skilled magic users, being very adept at using and controlling magic, but lack the same level of skill and efficiency that Emerald dragons have. Their body shape and anatomy make them slow as well, while also lacking the natural defenses of the Amber dragons. Kethana are slow, powerful casters with very weak defense options in a fight, making for a race that’s ill suited for any forms of close combat. They are a long range magic wielding species and can do little else besides. The Kethana came about sometime after Garnet dragons conquered the anki on the Charir. Once they had been given control over the raunikayle that served as the ankis’ slave race, overtime, a few Garnet dragons interbred with raunikayle and created the Kethana race. Starting off quite small, the Kethana were quickly made to be slaves alongside the raunikayle, existing only to serve for many years. This changed once the era of the emerald dragons came; however, as soon after the emeralds discovered the Kethana race's latent magic capabilities, the race was taken under their wing and thrust into the role of second in command. This sudden shift in dynamic caused the Kethana to celebrate their newfound freedom, but also seek revenge for the centuries of abuse they were forced to endure under the rule of both the Garnet dragons and the Anki. The Kethana became abusive, pompous and cruel, taking on the role of guards and task force members in many parts of the world. Their cruel nature likewise was increased even further due to the confidence and assuredness of the emeralds that they answered to, an inferiority complex that is pushed onto every other race that is below them. This pervading nature still exists even to this day, making the Kethana as a whole one of the most hated races.
