It's time for GeneX Chronicles: The Twilight Cage! I'll go over each pic chapter by chapter and briefly explain them. Or you could read the fanfic. I've got pools for the stories, and bigger stories have been collected into arcs as well, like this arc here: https://inkbunny.net/s/2862274
Ch. 1 Act 1 - The Nocturnus Marauders appear, stealing the Chaos Emeralds that Knuckles and Punchy had collected. Punchy fights back and knocks off Shade's helmet, discovering she is an echidna.
Ch. 1 Act 2 - A morph is on the loose stirring up trouble. GUN thinks it's Kosmo, but the troublemaker is Nova. Here he is in the Mystic Ruins, working on his secret teamup with Jak the echidna of the Nocturnus tribe.
Ch. 2 Act 1 - Kosmo tries to keep a low profile while trying to solve the mystery of Nova. Tommy the porcupine recognizes him, however, and Kosmo ends up chased by the young porcupine on his way to Blue Ridge Zone.
Ch. 2 Act 2 - Gemini is surrounded by Nocturnus soldiers while in Blue Ridge Zone. Copter & Punchy's group shows up to help her, and she uses magic to melt a large snowbank blocking the way to Metropolis.
Ch. 3 Act 1 - When Tommy is taken prisoner by the Nocturnus tribe, Kosmo surrenders to keep them from hurting him. Locked up aboard a Nocturnus transport ship, Kosmo is able to break them both out. (This pic wasn't working no way, no how. I had to settle for Tommy not having quills...)
Ch. 3 Act 2 - Angel Island has fallen onto Metropolis and a wormhole has appeared in the sky, leading to the Twilight Cage. Eggman secretly helps Copter's group by building the Tsunami, a ship capable of traversing through the portal and exploring the Twilight Cage.
Ch. 4 Act 1 - Arriving on Kron Colony, Rainbow quickly discovers a Twilight Shard. There are many of them scattered about the Twilight Cage, each filled with strange power. Our heroes begin searching them out...
Ch. 4 Act 2 - Jak the echidna is also searching for the Twilight Shards. He appears on Zoah Colony, intending to order the Zoah to dispose of Kosmo and Tommy. Kosmo bests the Zoah champion in battle, however, so... Jak is left unhappy at his orders being ignored.
Ch. 5 Act 1 - The Voxai Overmind is able to control the minds of anyone near it. Guard the gargoyle soon finds himself surrounded by Copter, Punchy, Gemini, Kosmo and the others. Having a robotic brain, Guard is the only one immune to the mind control, but all he can do is survive until Sonic defeats the Overmind.
Ch. 5 Act 2 - While Sonic battles through the Nocturne, facing off against Imperator Ix, our heroes face Jak and Nova. Nova uses the power of 10 Twilight Shards to become Supernova, but Kosmo is still able to defeat him with some help. None of it matters in the end, as all of our heroes, Sonic included, are betrayed by Dr. Eggman on their return home, and they are killed...
GeneX 10th Anniversary: The Lost Chronicle Image 1 - Silver the hedgehog is sent back in time by a being known as Argus, intent on preventing the tragic end of Sonic the hedgehog. But Silver isn't the only time traveller altering events; The Deathbringer kills Jak and captures Gemini, requiring the fennec's aid to gather all of the Twilight Shards quickly.
The Lost Chronicle Image 2 - Silver arrives on Angel Island with Dimentime and some other allies. He tries to talk Shade out of fighting, but that doesn't work out too well. Ultimately, Shade is hurled off the island during battle. She ends up the sole survivor of the Nocturnus, settling down somewhere...
The Lost Chronicle Image 3 - The Twilight Shards form up the Enerjak Mask. Containing the spirit of a vengeful god, Enerjak possesses a time traveling Darkseeker. A battle with Super Sonic ensues. Enerjak kills the Nocturnus marauders, including Imperator Ix. The Deathbringer kills the Darkseeker for betraying their masters in the Zodiac Council. The Enerjak mask ends up secured by GUN, for now...
The Lost Chronicle Image 4 - Silver and Dimentime shake hands after the time travel adventure. Silver knows Dimentime will meet him again, but that's in Silver's past and his future...
Not Pictured: Sonic Vs. Dr. Eggman - Project 20 - Included in the story arc post is this story written for Sonic's 20th birthday. It is technically canon, but not important enough for an illustration. I'm tired of fighting with the Ai at the time of wrapping up this image set. You can read the stories if you want.
